$0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $7.23 (72.3 bb)
Hero (BB): $10.33 (103.3 bb)
UTG: $9.90 (99 bb)
MP: $18.52 (185.2 bb)
CO: $13.79 (137.9 bb)
BTN: $10 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2♥: A♦:
3 folds, BTN raises to $0.30, SB folds, Hero raises to $1, BTN calls $0.70

Flop: ($2.05) 8♠: 7♦: 2♦: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.98, BTN calls $0.98

Turn: ($4.01) A♣: (2 players)
Hero bets $1.91, BTN raises to $8.02 and is all-in, Hero

No info on villain so I like to 3b them more as they should give me more respect.

Pre: 3b bluff.

flop: I cbet and If I can make some overcards flod I'm happy.

Turn: I make 2pair so now I'm value betting but villain ships it in, do I fold or call?

I think that sets+ would raise flop.

Imo his range OTT has few combos of sets/78 and then some Ax 2 pairs if he calls them like this and then what else? 9Tdd?

This should be a fold right.?

It's borderline here. Straight and flush are not possible. Just a few set combos and you block some of them. The question you should ask yourself is is he capable to shove with hands like AQ,AJ,AT? That is NL10 where people love too much their TP and overplay it often. But from my experience at the micros call OTF and raise OTT almost always means strenght

I personally would muck this hand preflop, but call vs 2,5x and less. Flop cbet is fine as a protection bet (also a protection from being bluffed) and turn cbet when we hit two pairs is also fine. When he shoves, I think he would have AK-AT more often than 88-77. First of all, not all the players call 88-77 vs preflop 3bet and secondly, I believe sets will raise the flop. If he wanted to trap you OTF, I don't see a reason to stop trapping OTT - he should be happy with this card because you might hit it. It's very possible that he floated the flop with A-high. I would call.

Maybe in the reason for bluffing preflop lies the key to his hildings on turn...

I would not call this. However, we can run equilab for this. What is your result?

Call preflop, you get great odds, close the action and you got a freaking Ace! :)

Alleen (my hero) - I don't know wtf a protection bet is on the flop here? How does it protect us from getting bluffed? It might protect us from getting bluffed on this street but there are two more after this - are we gonna protect on those too!?

Turn is obv a good value bet now we got here like this.

He is not raising T9 here - he would more likely do that on the flop. Also he is unlikely to bluff raise a card that smashes your preflop value range.

I fold (pretty quickly) but I would call A8.

Let me explain. :f_pleased: His preflop range is mostly broadways (btw. that's why we have to bluff those flops almost always as a preflop 3bettor if we have a bluff and cbet alot in general). When we have a pair on this kind of board in this kind of situation, there is a big possibility that we have the best hand, but we don't have a clear value, so we bet for protection. Also, with betting we protect ourselves from being bluffed now and later in the hand. Would we hapilly check/call flop, check/call turn with 3rd and 4th pair; or check flop and check/call turn, for example? We don't want to give him initiative - free cards + a chance to take the pot with a worse hand.

Alleen you are not protecting you are just bluffing with a made hand. When he calls flop his range's equity is all over you. When he folds you folded out a worse hand (that admittedly has equity that can be used against you) but who says he is not going to bluff raise you now anyway?

So when he calls you are dead, when he folds you just bluffed.
