I would bet in this spot much less, 10-20% pot. With 50% bet size, you turned your hand into bluff.
Hi there. This is a bit confusing...
"Don't listen to other players" - followed by your opinion - I assume you are an "other player"?
Then "I would bet 10-20%" - that is about as close to checking as you can get with out actually checking so your strategy is super close to what I am suggesting and you then agree that Alleen is bluffing with his betsizes (agree 100%).
The other suggestion is that this is actually Weasel's strategy here and although I don't know him I doubt that. Which is exactly why my initial suggestion was "ask your coach".
GL.

Sorry for being imprecise, English is not my native language. By saying don't liste to other players, I meant regarding protection betting because one player in this thread wrote that he would win higher limits if he would stop protection betting, so I suggested that he should listen to coach and not opinions of other players who are learning poker. Still explained confusing ![]()

Yes it is close to checking, but still you get some hands to fold which have equity vs your hand and if they dont, then you value bet vs those with that small bet size.

Yes, Weasel is explaining protection betting in one of his latest videos, where he uses small bet sizes for protection / thin value betting

A bit annoying week behind me with alot of coolers and bad beats (including the hand where BB 3bet/called Hero CO with 64s and hits a straight), but nothing dramatic happened overall. Still have alot of chips to bust before having to move down to NL16. My wish is to reach $3.200 by the end of the year and take shots at NL50. Chances are still alive so hopefully it will happen.
What a session!

Think this is my biggest losing sesson so far, but after a quick analysis, I would play just a couple of spots differently and lose aproximately the same. Poker is not threating me well lately, but the focus is now on surviving this period without dropping the game quality. Am I good enough to stay at NL25?

Imo you should not have any trouble beating nl25, I wouldn't be worried after a few not so good sessions. ♠_thumbsup:

I hope so. Thanks!
But these are my first 50k stats there:
Couldn't be more break-even by the EV, but I do feel that was hit a bit harder by the variance through that period, especially in last 20k hands. Nothing went my way. Couldn't hit any board, couldn't bluff anyone, coolers, bad beats etc. So I believe (but am not convinced) that my true winrate should be at least 2 bb/100. Will certainly do my best to prove that in next 50k hands (if wouldn't have to drop down a limit before reaching it).

What happened?
The "wierdest" 77 yesterday was this:
Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.SB: $28.71 (114.8 bb)
Hero (BB): $34.77 (139.1 bb)

3 folds, BTN raises to $0.56, SB folds, Hero calls $0.31Flop: ($1.22) 9♣: 2♥: K♦: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checksTurn: ($1.22) K♣: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.58, BTN calls $0.58River: ($2.38) K♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $1.13, BTN calls $1.13Results:
Spoiler
$4.64 pot ($0.21 rake)
Final Board: 9♣: 2♥: K♦: K♣: K♥:
Hero showed 7♦: 7♠: and won $4.43 ($2.16 net)
BTN mucked A♦: 3♣: and lost (-$2.27 net)
If that's the hand, turn bet was mostly a protection bet (don't want to see any overcard to 7 OTR), but also a thin value bet. I expect K or 9 to cbet the flop most of the time. The river could be a check, I believe, but I decided for a thin value/blocking bet because expect 66-22 to call sometimes given how the board developed + I don't want to face a big bet. What did you put me on to call the river?
I can't find another 77 hand where I bet the river...
I like that theory of betting vs missed cbet. But I think we need to be careful still with "Kx would cbet most of the time". I would not cbet K3-K8, maybe even KT, TT-QQ, because there are not many overcards which have high equity and will fold. Like vs K there is just A overcard and it does not have high equity. Vs TT there is QJ, AJ overcards. Qj will not fold (GS), AJ give the positions also likely call. And we are not getting 3 streets of value from those medium hands. But those hands work well as bluffcatchers vs attacks like you mentioned vs missed cbet. Otherwise its really easy to attack us when we do not have protection range.
I mean what I have learned is: cbet medium hand only when there are high equity hands which can fold, so that we get protection. By high equity I mean at least 2 overcards equity.
If I can see only one hand which are 2 overs, then I also do not cbet. For example A22 and I have JJ. Overs which will fold are KQ. I check.

Don't worry 50k hands is a small sample, as is 100k hands.

The reason why double barreling vs missed flop cbet when you are OOP is profitable by default at these limits is that people do not bluffcatch often enough. They don't generally check top and 2nd pairs OTF as a preflop aggressor. So, I believe it will be more profitable to double barrel even with a mid strenght hand or weaker showdown value (as a protection, thin value, bluff - who knows) than check/call and leave opponent to hit something better. I even remember one coaching session with w34z3l where he gave me a homework to bet and barrel every single time vs checks (no matter the hand I have, the board, the situation... no matter what) for a longer period of time just to see that this is working.

It's very interesting that if, for example, your true winrate is 3 bb/100 and you play 50k hands a month (which is unrealistic for the majority of us I believe), you can still have a losing year. One could ask yourself - does really skill play the biggest role for people who can't have volumes like 100k a month. Let's say one can play 20k hands a month, has a decent true winrate of 3 bb/100, but he could still lose big time even over period of 2 years. He will be convinced that he sucks.

Poker is definitely not giving a fair share lately and the week was very emotionaly consuming. Anyway, I still have $178,75 to lose before having to go back to NL16 and the chance that I will stay a NL25 reg is still realistic. Next three weeks will probably not have much time for poker because am getting married on 27th and am going to a seaside afterwards to arrive home just before the new school year starts. I'm also starting to be nervous because of the wedding.
Alot of stuff to do before the Big Day. Let's hope everything will be just fine!

checked the simulator, good thing is that its 25% probabilyty that you will be loosing over 50k hands. And after 1k hands its 17%, so the more hands, the less likely you will be loosing. It is likely that you will be breakeven, but then you add bonuses and its still good.

thats big thing, I wish you good marital life and hopefully you will still find time for this awesome game when being in family

I will find the time, ofcourse. Nothing major will change in my life since we are allready living together and she is suporting me to play poker, as long as I have enough time for her.
Probably changes will come when kids arrive, but for now no one is pregnant.
