My advice is stick to regular tables instead of zoom! Zoom micros is a game where I only see positive winrates in small samples, I'm tbh not sure someone with micro skills and mindset issues could beat it. I don't want to call it unbeatable, because it's likely not. If a NL50 or NL100 player with a solid mind set moved down I'm sure he could produce a win rate. But with the rake and aggressive players, then added tilt etc and the avg skills of a micro player.. it's very very tough to beat long term.

Yes, it's convenient as hell. But if tilt makes you play your B-game mixed with C-game and you make some 20bb mistakes here and there... you're putting in a lot of work and sweat with little in return! The negative emotions in poker is what make most people demotivated and quit at some point (and yeah, I took a 2 year break from poker myself for this very reason), they can be hell to deal with. So my advice is, move to regular tables, table select, cut your volume down. It's better to play 50k hands at a 3-5bb wr than to grind 100k hands at BE. Sometimes less is more, poker is one area where it makes a lot of sense!

That said, do what makes you happy and what makes sense to you! GL!

@vonki Thank you for the great comment! I appreaciate. In general, I prefer regular tables, because of the table selection and having dynamics with the opponents. It feels more like a real poker. The issue is I play on a laptop and it's hard to multi-table. Playing only 6 regular tables is kind of boring and I need more action or I get distracted by music/podcasts/videos. The solution would be another screen, but I keep moving places and countries ♦. Maybe, in the future.

It's true that negative results can lead to frustration, but it also gives you motivation to develop. There's just so much to learn in poker. Of course, if I continue to lose/be break even, I would not keep beating my head against the wall. So, my plan is to stick to zoom for August and then see how it goes.

August is a nice month - more parties and going out, less poker. The zoom didn't go well at all. I had 4 or 5 days in which I lost 20 buy-ins.. and I didn't even play so much. The graph is on my laptop and can't upload it now. I guess vonki was quite right with the above post ^^ and I had to change the game earlier :D. So, I thought - where I won the most so far? The answer was FR regulars. I never really lost much there, but the reason to move was to play a more popular format that will be beneficial in a long term. But if I can build BR with them, there's no reason to torture myself with 6max zoom.

And it was a good decision!

The first graph was the same, but downwards. Feels so much better playing full rings. I hijacked my brother's pc for awhile to play 12 tables as he's not at home for 2 weeks. His machine and screen are f*cking beasts. Everything is nice and cool. I'm having a mountain camping this weekend and then going to our seaside. It won't be a lot of poker, but it's summer

August 2016

It was a very chill month and poker was left in the background. At the same time, I got some good results and I'm pretty satisfied. Although, I had a little crisis in the middle of the month, I managed to overcome it and then went on the upswing. Changed to full rings again, simply because I beat the games there. I didn't play the last week as I was on the seaside (black sea), getting a nice tan and drinking beers. As usual:

* Hands - maybe 50k or 60 (played on both computer and laptop, mixed graphs, can't be bothered)
* winnings - $150ish together with bonuses

Kind of stopped carrying much about analysing hands or strictly following ranges and stuff. Watched some videos, but nothing too serious. I'll just look for good games and play whatever I feel comfortable without worrying about long term success or whatever. Probably move away from pokerstars when I go back to Scotland. I lost my status as I played in pokerstars.bg. It should be back this month.

Don't feel like setting goals now. just chilling..

the summer is over again and new adventures are coming. I can't say anything very interesting poker-wise. Didn't play almost at all this month. The laptop kinda died and I will neeed to buy a new one. Going back to Scotland tomorrow. Another study year is going to start. No idea how much I would play or where things would go, but we will see.

its a short up, just to stay in shape.

I can recommend 888 for both cash games and MTTs. It's one of the softest sites around (may even be the softest), so you should see an immediate lift in your win rate.

Definitely can use more Floyd. I have been a huge fan since Dark Side of the Moon came out in 1973 (showing my advanced age ) and I normally prefer studio recordings but the Pulse live set is the best live set I have ever heard.

How's everyone doing? I hope you keep well in these times.
I haven't been here in 4 years and neither did I play poker until 3 weeks ago when I deposited $10 in Stars. The urge to play came after getting a recommended poker video on YouTube. Their algorithm works in mysterious ways. Then, I watched Lex Veldhuis streaming and thought why not put a few dollars and play the old game.

Maybe, I'll go back to the grind, who knows ♦

It's super funny reading my old comments. It's also cool to see some familiar faces who are still around keeping their blogs. Did the game change a lot, is it unbeatable nowadays? I played one $0,10 360man SNG and won it - so the money must be still there ♦

Anyway, I wanted to pass by and say hi for old sakes. If I start playing more, I'll be visiting the forum and reading your blogs.

I've been playing a bit for the last weeks after work, mostly cash games on NL2. Players are trickier, more aggressive even on this limit compared to a few years back from what I remember. It's still a lot of fun though. I made 10k hands moving between zoom, normal short tables, and full tables. I'd probably just stick to 9-ring normal for now as I do best there.

I even got my silver status today in here so I can watch a few strategies/videos to refresh my knowledge. Anyway, I'm playing very casually at the moment but now will have almost 3 weeks of holidays so I'll probably play more. What else can you do these days ♦

Question - what do you think is a good WTSD% on the micros? I read you can aim for 25 - 27 playing Tight. Mine is at 25.7 currently, which should be fine, but I was curious.

It makes sense to do what you do best, but I also like variety.
I stuck to 5-Card Draw so long I got rather lost when I played Hold'em again -- but you have to play hold'em 'cuz that's where the big money is.

It varies by stake, by position, and varies by full-ring or 6-max, but 25-27 puts you in mid range -- <25 is considered tight and >30 considered loose.
More importantly IMHO is now how often you get to showdown, but rather how you get there.
If you call passively that is one thing, and if you put pressure on opponents that's another.

If you use PokerTracker you can use the tool "leaktracker" to get a report on how you do on all stats.
My leaktracker says I have an overall WTSD of 31, which is on the very top of the "good" range -- but it is for hold'em so small sample size

Thanks for the tips VorpalF2F, I use HM2, not sure if there's a similar feature as leaktracker. My WTSD stays at 25 so far as I play nitty on full rings. I agree variance is nice, I tried a bit of PLO recently and it was fun. I also join a few SNGs and Tournaments from time to time. Hopefully more and bigger tournaments in the future.

The poker bank is growing slowly with the help of the daily challenge to match cards and opening a few chests. Today I got lucky and had $5 from the challenge ♠_drink: I would give it a shot at NL5 if I continue this way.

The plan for the next weeks is to celebrate the holidays at home, relax, play some poker. It should be good. Wish you good times!

Poker is going fine, the bankroll is up to $60 from $10 deposited last month. Let's see if I can make it 6x next month too. I started opening one 5NL table now together with the 2NLs trying to move up slowly.

Also joined a few tournaments - $0.55 (cashed for $1.89), $1.10 and got into a $5.50 Blowout via a satellite, but lasted for about two hours and busted. I'll be playing a few micro tournaments on the weekends mostly likely going forward apart from the cash games.

Today, I'll be shopping and getting ready for welcoming the new year and then enjoy my last holiday days.

Small Sunday update.

I can play less poker now because of work starting. I'll be mostly able to play in the evenings for 1-2 hours and then on the weekends when free. So I've had 4k hands since the beginning of the year and the bank is at $74 right now. I played more 5NL but had a bad day with -4BI which made me go back to 2NL again. I plan to return in the next days and give it another shot. 5Nl players are more agro and limp less, but still very beatable and a lot of fun players.

On the tournament side, not much. I played $1,10 yesterday and ended around 900th place out of 3k+ pool. I tried to qualify for a $5.50 Blowout again but busted towards the end. I like the 180 regular SNGs, so far I won one for 0,10c a few months back and was 8th in 1$ 180s. May play one more today and see how it goes. What are some micro tourneys or SNGs you like playing on the side?

To complain a bit about the Stars chests, I needed 600 points for a blue chest at first, then it became 800, and now I need 2,850 points which is ridiculous given the rewards. Oh well, at least I have the daily challenge to match cards which gives me some small cash.
