Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 81 BB (VPIP: 21.40, PFR: 13.08, 3Bet Preflop: 1.11, Hands: 217)
SB: 40 BB (VPIP: 8.06, PFR: 4.84, 3Bet Preflop: 3.85, Hands: 63)
Hero (BB): 136.5 BB
UTG: 138 BB (VPIP: 13.04, PFR: 8.70, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 23)
MP: 95 BB (VPIP: 24.00, PFR: 4.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 26)
CO: 49.5 BB (VPIP: 15.38, PFR: 9.62, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 54)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J♦ J♠

Note: fold to the 4b?

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 3 BB, fold, Hero raises to 9.5 BB, BTN raises to 29 BB, Hero calls 19.5 BB

Flop: (58.5 BB, 2 players) 6♦ 7♦ 5♦
Hero checks, BTN bets 52 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 52 BB

Turn: (162.5 BB, 2 players) 3♥

River: (162.5 BB, 2 players) 9♥

BTN shows K♦ K♠ (One Pair, Kings)
(Pre 82%, Flop 92%, Turn 92%)
Hero shows J♦ J♠ (One Pair, Jacks)
(Pre 18%, Flop 8%, Turn 8%)
BTN wins 152.5 BB

Can I fold to BU 4b? It is a big one, too.

Calling does not seem right for sure. With the BU having less than pot behind.

4betting seems overplaying JJ.

So folding seems the best? Villain´s stats seem to corroborate that (low 3b), albeit on a small sample size.

If you had a note on him that he was very aggresive in LP with reraises, Jam preflop. It seems to be an average opponent so a fold is better, if the stacks were bigger a call could be good. But I don't know the minimal size of the effective stack size to make a call profitable against a 4bet.

Also don't post the result of the hand.

This is standard fold for me. I play only when I have some read on villain, which makes me believe I can be ahead with JJ.

I think I wouldn't call 4bets pre from these positions so much. Something like AK or AQs would be a decent call but pocket pairs that we 3bet for value I would shove. Here you could consider 5bet shove pre flop but since villain is short hand he 4bets so big and he has a 3bet% of 1% on 200 hands, I think you could let this one go and fold pre.

On the flop you can just fold. You need around 30% equity to call here and villain definitely has QQ+, AdKd, AdQd in his range, and a lot of hands that has a lot of equity.

Villain is shortstack. If you 3b you should go all the way and push.

3bet is 1% in 217 hands and now he is 4betting. And villain is not super short. I'm not sure if I want to shove only to hope we hit a set.

217 hands is not enough to rely on 3 bet imo :).

The probability of getting dealt KK+ pre flop is around 1% so if he 3bets only those his 3bet% would be around 2.1% here.
He might have had a bad run and haven't got as many AA or KK he should have but I think from this sample it is safe to say he is extremely tight with this 3bets.. If he would 3bet AK and QQ too, he would already have a lot bigger 3bet% than just 1%. And in this case he is 4betting.

If he got AK+ QQ+ vs that range we are pretty crushed 36.20%. I Think you're better off playing a tight game on NL 2 and just valuebet the living shiit out of players.

Then you should not 3b in the first place vs the shortstack.

Not exact but it does not matter. We should have plan for the hand before entering the pot. That is the most important thing. And turning JJ into a bluff preflop is not that good.

Villain can still call a 3bet with wide range. And by 3betting we avoid being multiway or getting squeezed. I don't see how villains tight 3bet and 4bet range prevents us from 3betting him. If this guy 4bets only AA our plan can easily be to 3bet him and fold vs 4bet. I don't see any problem in that.
