This +1,000,000!
Record the coaching please!
Please be honest - isn't wife saying smth about poker that you spend a lot of time for little money ?
That could make you want to thing about things like quitting.
I know girls like to complain about how much time you spent where you make little money. But girls also spend a lot of time where not only that they dont make money, but they loose money, for example shopping.
I have also parents, friends who tell - oh you make so little, its waste of time. Good that I do not live with them and they do not see it and I still have a hope to show them that I can beat NL20 and go up then.
But I really sometime am affected by those people saying to not play poker.
But in case you quit - there are good things also - you leave more money to make for us
Btw even if gordon gecko looks like scammer, at least his motivational videos look good, I still have his quotes on my fridge from those videos from few years ago on pokerstrategy
1outerHITS: If it´s possible and wouldn´t bother you, I´d take part in that "coaching" as well. I would let you aim at aleen and would be something more like spectator, so you don´t waste much time ♦. I play NL4 (already shot NL10 once, now I´m preparing for another try.

Sorry, but as a person swindeld by Gordon and his bestpokercoaching I have to say that this is rubbish. Who cares if his old or new motivation videos work if his strategy doesn't. Hundreds if not thousands of players paid him big deposites and huge shares and received close to nothing speaking in terms of quality coaching. Saying that at least his motivation videos look good is like taking flight from Rome to London, land in Mediolan and say "At least the flight was short"
Topic of private coachings is very interesting. 1outerHITS can you write something more about it? What was special about the coachings that pushed you forward? It is hard for me to believe that there is still some hidden knowledge which can improve your play so dramatically after just a few coachings. Are all other coaches hidding that, don't know it themselves or maybe they just can't teach? Do you have some more odvice on finding good deal?
Alleen I really hope you don't mind us having discussion here
And I hope you will crush eventually. You deserve it!

You really made me smile!
No, she was surprised when I told her for my plans to quit.

I think the thinking should be changed. Ok, he gets free coaching, crushes NL25, makes 4k. Now starts NL50 and set goal to make 10k and - says if I do not make 10k, I quit. And to crush NL50 will be harder than NL25. Ok, maybe not harder if you find good way to improve, maybe really good coach can make this thing much faster.
But even if you do not like Gordon, I like what he said - "Champions stand up one more time than the rest". So if you do not make 4k now, you have to stand up and try again. Its not smth imposible, if people beat NL200 and even say that at NL200 players are lazy as fuck (some coach said so) then NL25 should be peace of cake.
If you are strugling to beat NL200, yea, maybe thats different story. I do not know if everybody can beat that limit.
No, she was surprised when I told her for my plans to quit.
I am not surpised that she is surprised
But on the other hand - if you really find something more fun with the free time that can give such satisfaction when you crush the limit, then it might make sense to do so.
But I do know know what would give me such satisfaction. Playing computer games could give I believe, but it required also lot of time as poker. But if satisfaction is the same, but poker adds money, I prefer poker. And I can brag to some people that I crush this limit and made x amount this year. Plus if I crush good enough limit I can make it my job in case I loose a job. While if I crush some other computer game - only those who play this game will understand your success and you still need to make money from somewhere else.
Btw I am now having 14 BI downswing at NL20 ipoker and I see fish and not going to give up at all. I think I should beat them, I just do not get why I am not beating those fish. I guess need to go back to NL10 now to check how I do and recover a bit.
Hey guys,
I just had a nice talk with Alleen86 and we agreed on the conditions of the free coaching.
We'll not record the coaching and he will not post his leaks / new strategies here in the thread. This are my conditions, I'm sorry.

It's really an interesting topic and you'll not find much info about it.
What really pushed me forward is that my coach implemented a completely new thinking. In the first 4-5 lessons we only did game-theory and rangework (my coach studied math); no single hand discussion / liveplay or something similar.
I thought like "wtf" I don't need this shit, I play NL10. But now I know how a solver works. I understand the concepts why u have to use different betsizes in certain situations, how to choose/develope a sizing plan etc.
We did a lot of toygames and math calculations.
After these lessons we needed 1-2 liveplay-sessions with a lot of exploit-stuff + I started to work with a solver. This was the time I "exploded" and crushed NL10/25/50 quickly (also documentated it in a blog, but in german and on another forum, so can't post the link here)
I don't know how to find a good deal. I know 3 coaches who offer good deals.
1 is my coach. 1 is a friend of my coach (but he only coaches in german). And the 3rd I don't know personally but heard only good about him through a friend I trust. But I'm sure there are many others out there
If you have further questions dont hesitate to ask (e.g. if you find a deal, you can add me through the com-tool and I will have a look for you as I know the conditions of these 3 stables / coaches who do deals regularly. So I have a lot of knowledge about what are normal rates and what is likely a scam).
SPeedFANat1c, I agree that you should be persistent in achieving the goals you have. I remember and love this saying "Champions stand up one more time than the rest", but I also think that you should set yourself some limitations and be realistic. For example, it would be ridiculous to dream of becoming a profesional footballer when you are 36 and play in 7th division. I don't want to be 60 and still trying to beat NL25. ♦ "Get rich or dye trying" sounds nice, but I don't want to follow it literally. ♦

I agree
I am not saying we have to beat NL1k. But it is possible, some do even in one year, so its bit unlike the football.
Btw can you post your NL25 graph, its interesting what is your situation?
I also agree that I do not want to be 60 and still trying to beat the micros. However, we can always change and/or adapt our process of achieving our strategy. Your life strategy should always have certain elements that you truly want and truly makes you happy. You want to achieve this and when you have true passion for something (it can be literally anything) you already visualize the end result and start to think 'how am I going to achieve this' and not just 'hope' for it. Hope is a valuable thing but very limited. We both read the Mental Game of Poker and they state almost the same. It doesn't matter what you do, whether it's poker or something else. It is what you want from it. I think we have a certain passion for the game and through this passion we can really achieve what we really want.
I think the clue in my story is just to be open for change, admitting you do things wrong, admitting you have limitations and admitting you need help. There is no shame in this all because all the successful people have failed many more times than others for the quote you just stated that 'they stood up one more time extra'.
Good luck on the new journey
Cheers,
Hesticus

This is the graph of my unsuccsessfull NL25 shot:

And the stats:

Hesticus, I don't have a problem with admitting that I'm doing the things wrong! It's just I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or better to say, is it really wrong what I think it's wrong. ♦ Let me give you an example. I've allready achieved some of the goal stats I posted above. For example, my 3bet by positions looks almost the same like those goal stats. But the monetary results are the same whatever I changed. I'm also close to many of the goal stats, but the results are the same they were before when I had "worse" stats. Might be that when I "fix" some leak, I create some other and the end result is neutral. Who would know. Might be that I shouldn't even think about the stats, like 1outerHITS said. Maybe the "right" stats are just a result of right play, but you can't achieve the right play by achieving the "right" stats.
At least you are still close to break even
My graph looks a bit uglier
I think I have adapted better and now I maybe know what I should do. One thing that helped me was folding a lot more. Even pre flop I sometimes fold when I don't feel comfortable, for example I folded AJo from CO vs UTG open and MP call.. That would be a standard bluff squeeze but the guys looked scary so didn't want to play. That ruins my stats but I believe I avoided some losses.
I started playing zoom and because it is so fast I noticed I started making automatic and quick decisions. I had to learn to take it slow and concentrate more on my villains and how to play against them. I also noticed that if I just overfold I make more money. Some exploits or bluff lines coaches tell us in videos might work in NL50 but at my limit (NL10) ppl are just so brain dead that they will call. One good tip is to avoid bluffing if you don't have info that villain is capable of folding.

May I ask who told you this is a std. bluff squeeze for that situation ♠_o:

Don't agree with that in general [speaking for NL50->NL10].
The other thing is: does the coach play every hand the maxEV way
AJo would be a standard squeeze in weazel's ranges for example. I can understand the reasons why it is fine to use that as a bluff squeeze and I believe weazel has put many hours into those ranges so it is probably fine to squeeze that.
You don't agree with what? With that people at NL10 like to call way more and therefore bluffing is not as good? For example once I made a perfect bluff in my opinion, my line was exactly what I would play with a flush on that board and still villain called with mid pair (unknown guy so couldn't have any info on me, he was just a station).
Hello alleen!
I would not be worried about your results at all. Your ev is just -6 bin over 78k hands.
78k hands is a small sample. I know players that are crushing nl100-200 over huge samples at like 8bb/100 and they have had brake even or losing stretches of 200k hands.
nl 25 is not that different from nl16. You should beat nl25 if you are beating nl16. I have faith in you!
It is really nice to see how lively this blog is
I agree with you Alleen86, I think you are definitely thinking in the right direction and I think I might sent off the wrong message. I didn't mean you were not admitting things. However, I do mean to keep having faith in your play because I think you just got the wrong signs. Perhaps now everyone is focussing on your improvement, you will be triggered more. Success is just as much technique as it is mental and the example you give; indeed, maybe your stats just shouldn't be the discussion. I hope 1outerHITS will be of great help for you
