[0.55 € 6-max Double or Nothing] JJ - HELP! How would you have played this hand in this situation?

I’m not playing DON’s often, but I would go for it pre-flop with a 3bet to around 500 in total and her-evaluate on further action. As played you could call 1 street I think with your JJ and the turn it’s an easy fold for me.

ICM is always tricky in spots like this in DON’s and that’s why I don’t play them, but this is 1 of the easier hands most likely. Sometimes you even need to fold AA if you can fold ITM.

I'd say its a good fold OTT. At these micro stakes it can be very tricky to determine if you have to 3-bet or push all-in. Since its a DON, people are less likely to call. But you don't want to be the person knocking everybody out. So I think it depends very much on your read on the opponent.

Villain was unknown. It was at the beginning of the DoN. Villains at these stakes are not aware of ICM, risk factors, correct bubble play or some strategy. Many of them just see their cards, love them and push all-in with them, because they think poker is about gambling and about having good cards and luck.

So it´s me who has to be careful. In a DoN your hand should be about 65% favourite against Villains range to go all-in. At the bubble even more, around 75-80% to call an all-in.

Because many Villains overplay EVERY pair, EVERY two facecards and some of them even every ace, it is indeed sometimes very difficult to put them exactly on a range. Normally, generally spoken, it´s something like:

*every pair
*every two face cards
*every suited ace
*A5o+ (sometimes A2o+)
*suited broadway hands

But there are also a couple of regs.

Because it was in the early phase of the tournament I couldn´t put Villain on a certain range yet.

I understand the rationale but I'm afraid that it leads to oversimplification that can be dangerous : it leads to a very very narrow range for Hero : in example to get that 65% Hero's range is ~5% and thus we become supper easy to read and exploit.

This is a very good point! Thank you! Indeed, some regs started to push against me with any 2 so I had to widen my range.

I should vary and become hard to exploit.
