ON the preflop i have AJ , i bet big, everybody folds but ONE. :(
On the flop theres : A , J and 3. A perfect hand for me, the other one checks i raise about half my chips, and then he goes all in. I cant fold, since i've already wasted half my chips and im thinking my hand is pretty good. So i call his bet, he wins with three of a kind 3's. And it didnt happened to me ONCE. IT happens to me over and over again when im playing in tournaments...

Well it seems to me you might be playing the wrong hands? Youre not giving a specific spot your sitting in or stage in tournament, but u do say that 'everyone except one folds' meaning that u might have been sitting somewhere early on the table? AJ is not a very strong hand from early positions-mid in tournaments as far as i know....

This is quite typical. I think this is bad beat. When something like that happen when you hold two pairs and opponent makes three of the kind its terible but it may happen.

Problem is of course that bad beats are more often with weaker hands but the answer to every post like this should not be "you should fold it pre flop".

When someone posts like this you should better describe preferable play with this combination on the table. Personally I think you dont want to commit yourselve to the big pot with hand like that. You should expect to extract some value from such situations and not to bet more then size of the pot. You should expect Ax to call it and you win something. But if opponent strikes back carefully think about his holding. Its a problem especially in holdem and from the other side you can extract lot of value from your opponents by drawing on trips and you should expect your opponents to hold small pairs.

"I was so angry I could have killed a penguin..." lmao I gotta use that one in real life... lmaaaao

but as for the original poster I'm not trying to throw punches but seems like you haven't played a lot... Seems like a pretty standard hand...

it's called a cooler

It happens, its called a cooler, when you have a strong hand n lose to one even stronger one. Usually top 2 pair vs one opponent is strong so don't be sacred to get it all in. When you lose to a suckout straight on the river thats a bad beat. With experience you'll get used to it, just don't start playing your strong hands weakly coz ur afraid of a cooler\badbeat. If you dont bet your strong hands its much more likely weaker hands will over take you.

i did bet strog! you know, so I can make him fold, just by the book... but as i said, he checks ( and im thinking hes waiting for a good card) i bet strog so i can make him fold ) and then he goes all in. I cant fold to that, especially with two big pairs.

P.S. It happened to me again :( :( (but this time he got a flush)

No matter how a pokers pecialist u'd be , theres always gonna be an amateur or a maniac that will call with weird hands and win.
Yea yea, on the long run he will loose, but who cares, he kicked my ass and i dont care if someone else kicks his.

if you have top two you shouldn't try to make anyone fold.

does it matter? even if i would have checked instead of betting he would still bet me. ;)

The point is, with top 2 pair your hand is usually good, unless the board is somethin like 10 J Q K all hearts. So keep betting your strong hands, don't start playing passively coz of a few coolers. With experience you'll notice that it happens sometimes. So you better get used to it!

yes, it does matter. what matters is what decision you make and why.

Yeah, so you received a cooler. I love doing this to people, limp/call with a pocket pair, hit a set and stack them. We all do love it. But when it happens to you it's bad, I agree. That doesn't mean the game is only about luck.

Btw with 2 pair you have 4 outs to full house which is like a gutshot odds which is going to happen in like 12% of these hands. It's not much but happens.
Anyway, you just have to large-bet top 2 pairs on a safe board. It's a strong made hand and that's the only way to play it.

And an advice: try to get used to bad beats/coolers/reverse domination or just quit poker.

ps: reverse domination is when you have the better hand preflop but you are dominated on the flop. Like AA preflop vs say Q10 on a flop of AKJ is reverse domination.
