Today 2.65 hours of grind
Graph:

2 short and 1 "long" session. I was feeling whole day tired as I wrote in the previous updates. Playing shorter sessions certainly helped and 1st 2 sessions I played very well. Last session was OK for the most part but there were parts of me being polarized with my game. Doing absolute crushing in spots vs making some -EV spew unnecessary plays in others. But, overall, level of play is very high and great in relation to the new things I experimenting and applying. Feel I am becoming even more difficult opponent to play, bringing more arsenal of weapons to my battles and that is never a bad thing!
Tomorrow I hope to wake up more rested and then spend the day in the following way:
- Study
- Grind as much as I can (6 hours and twitch it all)
- Go for food in favorite restaurant for both lunch and dinner!
- Try to do pull ups (since doing 9 sets of 7 pull ups I can't now do a single one, feeling so much muscle sourness and Magnesium doesn't help!)
I might enter 2017 by grinding on Twitch - you never know!
My will, dedication, determination to make 2017 best year yet (improvement and financial wise) is beyond me. It is taking me over hard, my study habit is set now and I can't even go to play without studying 1st! I talked with my GF yesterday and she also knows of my plans for 2017. My best friend also knows of it. Girl that I go to movies also know it. They all know how hard I will push and that I won't give up. This is too important to me. I want to prove to myself yet again that I can keep raising the bar of my knowledge, success and future comfort in the times when game is getting harder each day! No fear, just relentless focus on habits and things that matter 1) studying 2) grinding 3) resting 4) eating right 5) taking time off doing things I enjoy (movies, coffee with best friend, some Partizan Belgrade game) 6) reflecting 7) keeping myself accountable daily via blog and twitch 8) automating other things (minimizing monthly expenses thanks to this approach)
I will see you all tomorrow/today in the final day of 2016!
Twitch update:
Study session starting in 35 minutes.
Will continue with edges 3/3 using notes from previous study session with DB analysis and CREV.
Before that, need to grab some coffee from local market.
See you there at 11am.
Twitch update:
Finished study session. Some very interesting results from DB and CREV. Definitely regained another edge from past and I feel now that I can tackle tables even better with my game plan and play.
In future study sessions, there is more work to be done for 3/3. After I complete it all I will move to HU DB analysis and do it all there. For now my post flop texture study is on hold. These pre flop edges and range construction are too important and can easily bring additional 10+ cEV over long term, especially on 15s or limits where people don't do DB analysis nor adjust (which happens everywhere up to highest stakes).
Today plan to grind 6 hours. 12:46pm now. Starting 1st session after I complete next update in regards to new years goals.
I will see you soon HERE
2017 Goals and How to Achieve Them - Part 1
I decided to write out 2 parts for goals that I have set for myself in 2017. Part 1 will deal with how to achieve while, part 2 will focus on mathematical aspect (financial) with different win rates for 4 tabling instead of 5 tabling, so lets start.
Grinding 1500 hours
Solution 1:
Grind 10 months, 150 hours each of those months. Have 2 months off to travel and work on another skill/business.
How to achieve it:
1) 5 hours daily grind without a single day rest
2) 6 hours daily grind 6 days per week, 1 day per week off
Solution 2:
Grind whole year, average of 120 hours per month, 4 hours per day average.
How to achieve it:
1) 4 hours daily grind without a day off
2) Grind 5 hours and every 4 days have a day off
Conclusion:
I like the idea of going for 6 grind sessions instead of 4 or 5 much better. Reason is because life can bring those phantom unexpected things that will require my time and attention. I can get sick, need to be there for family, friends and such things. When those things happen, my grinding can't be as straight line or going up but rather goes down. Another reason why 6 hours is better vs 4 or 5 is because there will be days when my focus is off, where my mind is focused on some other life ongoing things. Thanks to accumulated hours of grind, I can take it easier during those days and grind little or not grind at all. 3rd and very important reason is time off! Grinding 6 vs 4 or 5 hours per day gets me additional days off (besides 2 months planed) where I can spend time with family, gf, my best friend, go see a movie I am interested in, watch Partizan Belgrade game, invest more time into studying on those days etc.
So I will start the year just like I have been grinding past 2 weeks roughly estimating 6 hours per day average.
Studying
- 20 textures range vs range
- DB analysis for 3/3 and HU
- Hand reading with thinking process (HH review)
- Coaching other players
- Getting coaching
- Systematic approach to all of the above (daily with notes, screen shots, diary type logging)
Solution:
Daily study, warm up routine is studying.
On days where there are no guitar and music lessons aim to study twice per day. On days where there are more lessons, still study but then diminish grind by 1 or 2 sessions.
Conclusion:
Keeping a steady improvement, increasing knowledge, gaining new edges, being sure in my game, taking it to whole new level = hourly increase, lesser variance, more control, less hours needed to invest to achieve same goal (50k). So systematic approach to study is important. Ideally, every day when grinding happens studying should be preceding it. Number of hours are not as important to set as accomplishing all the DB analysis for spots that I want to improve in + to learn range vs range due to moving up and playing better opponents post flop.
Teaching
- Guitar and Music average of 4 hours per week (16-20 hours per month)
- Poker accepting only several students (very dependent on time availability)
Solution:
Teaching will happen every other day and likely I will dedicate minimum 15 hours per month teaching guitar and with potential new students in poker invest another 10 hours (2 students for example) per month.
Conclusion:
To make teaching work with grinding and studying, on days when teaching is scheduled I will decrease grind from 6 to 4 or 3 sessions but not sacrifice studying.
These are my main goals for 2017 and the ones that I will have full control over!
In Part 2 I will discuss my hourly and expectations for 2017 in relation to cEV increase so stick around for it.
2017 Goals and How to Achieve Them - Part 2 Monetary
Now I will move onto cEV goal and financial part of 2017 expectations.
Note: If I follow everything that I set in Part 1, this part should take care of it by itself in the long run. Also, if I don't achieve monetary goal but rather improve a ton, I will still feel great about it because it will bring me step closer to achieving higher hourly, moving stakes and improving as poker player.
Teaching music/guitar lessons
- I will make minimum 5k in 2017 teaching. That will of course mean that I still need 45k from Poker which for 1500 grind hours means 30$ hourly.
I will regardless of that hourly hunt and go for 35$ hourly because I want to increase my skill and edge as well as hourly in 2017 + I can finish financial goals before 1500 hours of grind.
Poker win rate
- Check out my analysis for 5 tabling HERE
- My goal is to reach 35$ hourly. If I reach 30$ hourly I will be OK but I am certain I can reach even higher hourly in 2017.
- I will likely 4 table for most of the year instead of 5 tabling. I have more edge 4 tabling, I take notes, pay way more attention and can discuss every hand pre and post flop doing it. Feel that with 4 tabling I can reach set hourly sooner vs 5 tabling.
So here is the break down of what cEV is needed 4 tabling to get to 35$ post RB
Facts:
- Stars will decrease SN RB to 28% so I have input that number for RB.
- 4 tabling gets 32 games per hour in
- I will grind 150 hours on average the months that I do grind so that gives total of 4800 games
- I used Swongsim to get all the win rates
cEV 62 = 35.033$ hourly

cEV 57 = 30.53$ hourly

Conclusion:
Thanks to guitar and music lessons, even with cEV of 57 4 tabling I would reach my 50k profit goal in 2017. So besides the fact that I will aim for cEV of 62 4 tabling on a larger sample, I will settle for cEV 57 or a bit lower then it since I will make from guitar lessons likely 6k+ in 2017 which leaves me from Poker 44k as max needed to make.
Note:
If during the year I get to cEV 62, I will not stop but continue to improve my game and win rate while focusing on:
- Moving up stakes
- Testing things with 5 tabling again eventually
- Mixing 15s and 30s to test the waters and improve hourly
Thank you all for reading and following. 2017 will be best year yet for me in poker. I hope you will all stick around and follow me down that path, seeing what it takes to make it in today's poker climate and economy and how dream of being poker professional in 2017 is still alive!
Now lets hit the tables and finish this year strong and crush next one!

Thank you my friend!
Wish you all the best and crush those Spins in 2017 ♦
Twitch update:
Finished with SB strategy vs BTN. Summarized all my notes, created default game plan and several others vs specific opponent types. My SB EV should be going up from this point on, assuming that tilt, loss of focus and bad play/rushing doesn't kill it all
About to start 1st grind session in 2017. Keep in mind that I set 180 seconds delay on Twitch stream due to other players not seeing whole cards in the real time.
Lets crush this - see you here
