First, I have moved your thread to the hand discussion forum. This way you get faster feedback on your hand and it’s fits better there as well.

I would most likely bet again on the turn for thin value and protection, but checking isn’t bad I think with top pair on a wet board like this against an unknown.

Cheers,

Checking can be good if we give Villain a very tight range for calling the flop. Since Hero opens the Button, the calling-range should be wide enough to fire another cbet, mainly for protection. Shouldn't be too big, about 55-60% of the pot.

1) Villain can have many flushdraws, and straightdraws
2) By betting we protect our hand and control the size of the pot at the same time
3) We avoid getting bluffed out of our hand on a river such as the A.

Overall I believe cbetting the Turn has a higher expectation than checking

I like the cbet turn here as well.
As played I wonder if you could not call that river though ?

All draws have arrived on the river and I don’t think he will bluff enough to make a call profitable.

I think that when the T doubles, it is a good card to barrel. Your fold equity improves, he might even fold a better J.

I can see a second barrel on turn here.
OTR as all draws got there we can safely fold.

Too many hands beat us on river. We cannot call.
