Really nice results dude! You are really going the good way :f_thumbsup: Almost 1k. When is your target? Or no final date?

When I first started my br challenge I didn't have any kind of final date because I had no idea how fast I could reach my target 1k. I started by playing NL2 back then.
Now I have set a goal that I complete my br challenge by March, so about 2 months to go :)
After that I will move to a higher level, dunno if it will be NL16 or NL25. I will also start a new challenge but this time I will withdraw some of my winnings from time to time instead only trying to increase my roll.

This week has started ok. I have made some nice profit but I just took a bad hit when I tried to make a herocall:

Spoiler

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $13.55 (135.5 bb)
BB: $12.07 (120.7 bb)
UTG: $15.48 (154.8 bb)
Hero (MP): $19.31 (193.1 bb)
CO: $9.33 (93.3 bb)
BTN: $10.42 (104.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 9♦: A♦:
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.30, CO calls $0.30, 3 folds

Flop: ($0.75) 3♠: K♥: A♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.36, CO calls $0.36

Turn: ($1.47) 8♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.70, CO raises to $1.90, Hero calls $1.20

River: ($5.27) J♠: (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $6.77, Hero calls $6.77

Results:

Spoiler

$18.81 pot ($0.85 rake)
Final Board: 3♠: K♥: A♠: 8♥: J♠:
Hero showed 9♦: A♦: and lost (-$9.33 net)
CO showed 3♣: 3♥: and won $17.96 ($8.63 net)

I just thought him raising OTT doesn't make much sense and he could have some kind of drawing hand or then just a pure bluff (I have seen turn bluffs with air lately). I know I should have folded there and I really don't know why I called. And OTR his overbet shove didn't make much sense because I'm either so weak I will always fold or then I have a flush myself. So made a big mistake and called.

Checked this with Snowie and it recommends me to fold OTT and OTR. Tried to see what kind of range snowie thinks villain has and the result was:

Spoiler

And yea, I have Snowie now. I haven't played with it much yet. I'm trying to think what is the best way I can improve my game with Snowie. Any tips?

I must say the way villain played the hand doesn't make sense (alright, now I have enough time to think about it :f_biggrin: ) but AK he would probably not call vs MP on CO and 88 would fold OTF with A and K because you are way behind with such a flop. SCs are out of the question as well so a bluff raise OTT wouldn't make sense. I would fold unless I have a lot of info on villain indeed but at the micros (as discussed) has no use and it is a different field. Best to play mostly your default games vs the types of villain you see even though you play exploitative then.

Cheers,

Hesticus :f_drink:

Yea that is absolutely true. I could have just followed Baluga theorem and fold my hand OTT . But it happens. I still made profit yesterday :)

I haven't played in a loooong time (about a week). I was sure I have already forgotten how to play and now I will get crushed...
Now I played a short 20min session.

Hand of the day:

Reasons for calling river? Note that he overplays hands? TT is pretty high up in your range though but his line looks strong and you get horrible pot odds.. I would fold riv readless.

Actually the reason to call river was that I don't think his line looks strong.
When I got to the river I started thinking what can he have:

1) when he shoves like that, he really should do this only with the nuts (A high flush) or with total air.
2) he didn't 3bet pre so I can exclude some nut flushes
3) he didn't cbet turn so I take a lot of flushes out of his range

So if villain has a hand that he is repping, it would mean he didn't 3bet it pre (I would 3bet almost any AXs BTNvMP), he would have cbet flop with A high but not continue OTT when he improves.
-----> I just didn't believe he has it

That is the reason why I bet pot OTR with set when flush comes. I thought he doesn't have a flush so I choose a bet size that I hope he can interpret as a bluff. If I had bet 1/2 he can just think "well, let him have it". Now that I bet big it is more interesting to him and I hope he catches me with weaker made hands.

Ty. I agree with your thought process but personally when I have called in simillar spots villains show up with super slow/badplayed hands and even though they don't really rep anything they have nutted hands. :f_confused: Anyways nh.

Hi la55i,

I like thinking outside of box and this is clearly not an auto pilot move so it's nicely played hand.

Wish you good luck with your challenge. :f_drink:

We played some tournaments at PokerStrategy.com Players Club today...
Not here to brag or anything... but check the results

But seriously, I'm not used to playing 4 tables at the same time. My head got super dizzy especially when I played 3 heads ups vs MetalMonkie.

Congrats la55i

When the pace starts to get hectic, just slow it down by taking almost the full available time.

Gr8 result!
