How the fuck can I run into 3 quads in 300 hands? In that same 300 hands hit set twice only for the person to hit runner runner straight. Then get all in with KK and turns out to be AA, then I get AA and the KK hits a set on the flop. How can all this happen in 300 hands? #RageQuit

I know this is probably sarcasm, but really feels like that these days. Today I have had so many occasions where someone is clearly bluffing then catches the one card on the river. I had top two pair and someone is bluffing with K5o, hits two 5's on the turn and river. I have top pair top kicker, someone bluffing with bottom pair and catches a random 3 on the river to give him two pair. How are you meant to expect that? How are you meant to play against that sort of thing? Only thing I could do is just fold all the time if I don't have the nuts but then I would never win a single hand and would get bluffed out of ever pot. Why is bad play always reward, should just go all in with any two at the start, at least that way there is no illusion of being any influence of playing....

Since I first joined Pokerstrategy I am up $2,500 playing 2nl / 4nl. So at these stakes I am not a fish. For the last 15k hands or so on 'stars I am down 26 full buy-ins on Full Ring. Basically, what has been happening to you has also been happening to me. One ridiculous cooler, set-up, bad beat after another. My hands hardly ever hold up. So I hardly ever play there any more and play on the MPN network, and ipoker. What I can't get my head around is that I am running great on MPN but as soon as I play on 'stars its back to the same old bullshit of runner runner suckouts. With idiots calling 4 bets with pocket Twos and flopping a set.

I suppose it is variance but while I am losing on 'stars and winning on MPN, I may as well forget about Jokerstars and play on MPN until I run bad and then switch over to 'stars.:f_biggrin:

Another session, and another load of coolers. Flop top boat, the guy hits a larger boat on the river. 3 queens on the board and me holding AA, of course he is sat there with Q5o. And the more these sort of things happen the more my play starts to fall to bits. Before I had an NL5 shot i was running at 22bb/100 of 17k hands (not huge sample). Took the NL5 shot and just got coolered and 2nd best handed into oblivion. Dropped down to NL2 and haven't been able to have a winning session. Things start going well then I get trashed by some random trash hand which has held on vs pot sized bets on every street only to catch something on the river. Or get called on 4bets with AA by 22-55 which flop a set almost everytime. Or AA just get walked. I just can't seem to get back into the same flow that I was in before taking the NL5 shot, have I just used up or my luck?

At least im not the only one. It kills the insides when it happens one after the other though. I dont mind the occational bad beat, ya know when it happens like the statistics say it should like that 5% of the time but when its more like 75% of the time that they pull the nowhere cards from space. Last night i had an all in gambler, i flop top two, he goes all in runner runner straight... beaten. ok ok, I'll keep going, next hand some else takes a chunk out of him next up me. I win hip hip haraa, so ive got 1.5 stack. Someone double him up i pick up AJs here we go pre flop. He hits his random card in the middle of the pack to win. And then leaves. Bullshit!
I went to bed took me the morning to earn that back.
When you get it in the best its just unjust when you come out the worst.
Oh and to win a tourney on stars the winning formula get it in with the worst hand
Works every time. Have a worse A or pocket KKs and the guy that call 79 will hit the flop 779. Happened to me yesterday on the chrome freeroll.
Cant write it can ya

They do say that that a day will come when you will run so bad like you have never run so bad before. 26 buy-ins down at 2nl is my worse ever downswing. I've had 20+ buy-in swongs at 6-max but these games are more variance heavy. I may have to drop a level at 'stars and play fun money - except the fun chips cost money now. :f_biggrin:

26 buy-ins in one day how many hands were you playing to be able to get you chips in the middle 20 times? And still lose? Over a 1000 odd hands i can only felt people or get big hands maybe 10 times at most.

26 buy-ins in about 15k hands over a few weeks period. Absolute nightmare. Worse swong ever in my poker career. I am sure it is variance because I don't super monkey tilt by 3/bet shoving AJ suited after a bad beat, and I can let go of TPTK to aggression. But whatever it is, I don't feel confident playing on 'stars anymore, and seeing as I am winning solidly elsewhere I shall continue to play away from there until I run bad on MPN, and then give it another crack. I am fully rolled for 10NL on Stars and was hoping to give it a shot but not until I regain my mojo.

haha. telling ya its the winning formula on pokerstars. big tourney all in from behind. and youll win everytime

I lost 4 stacks today. but I knew I was fuming then so I took the dog for a walk relaxed for an 3 hours or so, really calmed myself down was patient sat back down and got myself 3.5 stacks back.

I am so happy with myself.

I'm so happy that I was calm and able to walk away when I knew I was tilting. its getting much more of a subtle tilt now that I have to recognize it in a different way rather than noticing I am running around the house smashing anything that isn't screwed into the wall HaHa. only joking but you get the point. I know where this afternoon started I should have won 3 stacks in one hand but some came from behind and rivered me, set of 3s vs AA that couldn't fold and a straight and flush draw and he got his flush on the river. his call to an all in was justified easy but he instantly left. so there was that one and then someone got me for a backdoor flush after getting them all in. so its not just once its when it happens multiply times, I should just walk away for a few hours. because after that I am playing fast and hard to getting it in bad with TP expecting it to be good.

So this is me recognizing my little triggers and what I can do to stop them. what I can do to resolve my tilting habits. getting away and out for a bit.

Mine? Yea. I find that in general I can see it is my fault, but everynow and then need to vent so thought best to do it in this thread then ruin my blog thread. The feeling normally passes after writting it really, so isn't for reading more just for me writting :f_biggrin:

Edit: And so it begins again. 30 hands in, two set over set and then AA v JJ he flats 4bet then flops a set on a dry board... no idea how I a meant to guess that he has that, always going to go broke, so fucking annoying.

Its definitely better to vent it off. A little moan and you can relax a bit knowing people are the same.

More or less I managed to control Tilt just remembering as a mantra that poker is a long term game based on profit of decisions that will repeat themselves tending to infinity. That and eventual blows to the table!

Guys, on a small sample luck has a big impact but on a long run good players will make money. Sometimes we get sucked out but sometimes we are the ones sucking villain out. That is normal.

In Catonthemat's hand I don't see anything special. That will happen often. Though I would be interested how that hand was played on every street to see if there is something we could do better.
kr0daking's graph looks exactly like mine. If I look at my graph from last 10k hands, I went over 10 stacks up in the first 2k hands and now I'm back in break even :) Shit happens :)

A lot of times villains get sucked out but is in human nature to remember when we get sucked out... Consistent play has to be profitable!
