What were the exact stats of villains?
What type of limping range do you give them? I would at least say that SB range is probably wider than BTN. How much of that range will call your overshove?

It is an ugly hand for sure and i can see the doubt. Its the mindfuck between so many scarecards to come and having top pair here with a board that could get a lot of hands to call when the price is right. The problem with overshoving (2x pot) the flop though is that when we get called, we are probably behind (88,99,TJ,Q3-QK) or are up against a hand that have a lot of equity against our hand (flushdraws, straight draws with/without hit) AND we could possibly scare of hands that we beat now (8x, 9x). And above all this board hits their limping range pretty hard. So by 2x ing the flop, you are making the $EV when called smaller because of villains more capped range.

I'm not really sure... but my feeling says I'm checking flop and will fold to any substantial aggression. But maybe I'm way too nitty here.

I would try Raise and then fold after villain re-raise. Difficult hand here. Here you can se big minus of free play

The problem with limped pots is that even 2 players with > 50% could hit anything.
You can be way-ahead-way-behind here and i think TPBK is not the hand to shove.
I would shove however with a TPTK, any overpair or even a bottom 2 with this pot/stack relation.
Top pair bad kicker not so...
Better wait and shove your stack preflop. Chances are your loose players would exit the tournament faster than you think.
Yes, value betting relentlessly calling stations is the default strategy but there are 2 problems:
1) pot was not raised but limped
2) there are 2 stations here rather HU
3) your hand is not a "value" one. I would check/fold here, protecting mostly my stack than this marginal holding.

It’s indeed good to know what kind of stats the villains have, but I would most likely bet/fold this hand with a half pot bet. This way you protect your hand better without risking your entire stack.
