About today
Day started weird. My student was late for lesson and we moved it for later in the day. I then went to meet with best friend for session where we discussed difficult texture over 1 hour as well as responded to some questions outside of texture that he had. He then played some 1 tabling and I observed and discussed lines. Many times he made the right play IP which shows that past 10 days or less from doing range vs range IP has been paying off well.
I then ate in coffee place my favorite meal (200gr of chicken breast with spinach and on the side tomato and cabbage salad) after which I watched Partizan 1st half and then grinded 3 tabling 15s 2nd half.
My focus in the coffee place was very good. I then got home and was deciding how to proceed since it was already 3pm. I ended up grinding until 5pm but the more time passed the worse I played. My focus was going off, I made -EV plays, my huds switching didn't work properly again, and that was that. Between grinding I went to market to get my 2nd meal for the day and that was huge -EV. I ended up buying Pepsi (drinking most of it) and things to make sandwiches. As you can guess I feel very bloated and full and simply want to explode from this crap food. I was telling today my best friend how I constructed financial plan for healthy eating and that it would cost me 200$ per month to eat less then 50gr of carbs per day, have 200gr of protein per day and eat the foods that I truly like. But, I did not account that on Sunday, my favorite restaurant which is close to place where I live does not work. So lesson learned there, it means that on Saturday's I need to buy 2 meals in advance there or simply get 2 meals from the other place where I eat close to the coffee shop.
Anyways, it may seem like I am going off topic but I am really not. With bad food and drink choices, this drops my focus and puts me in tired/need to lie down mode. You can guess that this mode is very lazy and is not ideal for playing poker or doing anything really.
So besides my poker related goals for 2017, my nutrition goal is to eat clean minimum 6 out of 7 days foods that I enjoy and are around 1.4k calories total with protein and fats emphasis and very low carbs (less then 50gr). 1 out of 7 days to have it as a cheat day due to going to cinema with my female friend and getting popcorn there with soda
Outside of that, no more Pepsi, Coke and shit like that, just sticking to coffee and water.
On the other note, I am very excited to start exercising outside. I will start very light when weather gets better. I am thinking 10-15 minutes warming up which involves detailed stretching, and then just running couple of laps aiming to have each next lap not surpass the very 1st lap. So if I ran 1:45 minutes 1st lap, each next should not be over 1:45. Of course running them with moderately fast tempo, not light jogging or walking. If I see that I am exhausted after 2 laps, I will do 1 lap at the time and in between do some exercise like push ups, squats, sit ups or such and after completing it going for another lap but resting in between no more then 15 seconds.
Once I have my schedule down for both grinding, coaching sessions and guitar lessons and when weather gets nicer + I get additional $ to invest, I will re-hire my friend Sensei to keep me accountable for work outs. I am talking about 3 work outs per week in front of my building, doing things outside. The investment of 10 euro per session is 10x more value at least then the price asked. I will regain energy, be more focused, have accountability partner for my work outs, have plan to go from where I am now to 10% body fat target before next Thailand trip and finally I will with this make my nutrition stick much more better.
Mentally I found that if I don't exercise, my mind tends to say "relax its fine, have some candy or soda". This sucks for many reasons. While its okay to do it sometimes as a treat, doing this daily for long period of time is disaster. And I have been doing this pretty much from December last year. So I want to put myself back on track and stick to that track as long as possible. Falling off will happen but I want to keep getting back on it until it becomes full lifetime choice for me. Until then, I need to rely on outside help which is my Sensei and that requires investing money in fitness sessions with him but I am counting on that in the future. So 12 sessions per month is 120 euro monthly investment. I will likely not have that money to invest in April but have it for May so starting May my fitness financial goal is to get 8x120 euro which is 960 euro set apart for sessions with my Sensei. Training outside from September on will be very difficult and for that I will likely need to go again to Crossfit temple which is far and I will need 2 hours vs 1 for each work out long term that way which then becomes -EV for time management but +EV for life choice long term. So I will add those 960 euro to my financial goals this year as part of my goals. In the meanwhile before May, I will do my best to eat my favorite meals, revert back to intermittent fasting, stick to coffee and water and remove all distractions in this area + work out at home (pull ups, now at 8 per set, do them when I wake up 1st thing, 1 single set though!) and when sunny weather kicks in go early morning 1st thing for 30 minutes warm up with running and some exercises.
Phew, that was a long write up, but a needed one. Today reminded me how bad nutrition (food and drink choices) as well as lack of exercise effects my overall life, mood, energy levels, focus and ability to put my strong efforts in.
Due to nature of goals I have set in both studying and grinding this year, I need to change my lifestyle to things that are +EV.
To me, those things are:
- Steady schedule for everything!
- Schedule that prioritizes work out, studying and coaching 1st thing in the morning (most important and difficult things 1st)
- Grinding minimum 2 hours before 2pm , adding 3 more hours by 9pm
- Working out 3 times per week. Setting goals and going for them in this area, focusing on progression and enjoying work outs.
- Eating healthier and focusing on right number of protein vs carbs vs fats. Sticking to up to 1.5k calories daily intake
- Drinking water vs soda. 3l per day as a minimum
- Sleeping steady 7 to 7.5 hours. This is going great in 2017 so far but I don't like that I don't lie down on fixed times. This I want to change and hit bed by 2am, get up by 9am and start studying 9:30am or working out or coaching session at that time!
About working on my game, I will do it now before I hit the bed. There is over 60 hands marked and today I opened very 1st hand, saw mono texture, saw what I held, saw how I played the hand and my immediate reaction was "This is OK BUT There are better hands to play here that way". So that is just 1 hand and 1 reaction. That is not even complete analysis. I will take same hand now and do range vs range, 1st focusing on my value and then thinking of potential bluffs while also writting out opponents expected bet/stacking off ranges. That specific mono texture gives me trouble a bit so its something that I look forwad to in future checking with PIO.
Tomorrow have session with my friend, lunch with my dad brother and my dad's friend who is guest here in Nis, and my goal is to study in the morning before session with my friend, have session with my friend, grind 5 hours steady, pay my internet wireless bill, eat healthy, do pull ups through out the day and in the evening update blog. No lessons tomorrow so I can make tomorrow as productive as possible.
Not happy how I ended doing today at the tables and outside of them. Despite 3 hours playing, coaching my friend, watching Partizan, scheduling session with my friend, I had a lot of interupted time outside of tables and that is something I will look to eliminate.
Any suggestion for plug ins that can block sites like facebook or youtube? I want to potentially on my laptop just have at medium to low volume some light comedy sit coms while I 3 table on my desktop through out the day. This way I limit my access and responding to FB and do it only before the bed time for example.
Appreciate the suggestions, looking for non paying version of add on by the way!
