Hi
If you had to choose between Pokertracker4 and Pokersnowie which would you consider the more useful . they are both are good for analysis of ones game and learning. I have HM2 but I think pokertracker4 offer a lot more.
Thanks
james
Hi tmannie,
PT4 and Snowie are totally different. Snowie is not even a tracking program. If you already have HM2, of course you should get Snowie ![]()
PS. I don't think PT4 offers any more things than HM2, or am I wrong?
Hi la55i
Thanks for your reply . I tried that Pokersnowie a week or two back it is usefull, it rated some of my games quite high and some not too good. I have had HM2 for a few years, but it constantly freezes my computer and often at critical times in tournies and cash games. I have reinstalled it dozens of time. The things I like about PT4 are the notecaddy, the luckbell, the built in feature similar to Equilab and the Game theory feature. I also use a free program DDpoker which has practise tournies based on the WASOP and can be adjusted to suit ones needs it also includes play advisors.
Thanks
James
If your HM2 crashes I think you should contact their support and ask for help. It definitely shouldn't do that and I believe it can be fixed. I have used HM for years with no problems ![]()
That luck bell thing looks nice, it is fun to see how lucky you have been, but in reality it doesn't help your game at all and I wouldn't pay for that. You can get notecaddy for HM2 too.
So if you already have HM2 I think you shouldn't invest in other tracking software, just get the crashing fixed
Ok thanks for the advise . I have been in contact with HM2 several times over the years but I don't seem to get a lasting solution, on my previous computers they even did the teamwork correction/fix, but a few weeks down the line and I am back to square one. The other thing if I buy PT4 I get gold on pokerstrategy, which I think is more valuable than HM2 plus PT4 and pokersnowie and notecaddy all lumped together. Pokersnowie is only a licence for a year PT4 is for life. That DDpoker program does a lot of what pokersnowie does , But my most compelling pro point in favour of PT4 is I suppose (at the end of the day) that it's a new toy LOL (to use a distastefull modern expression).
Thanks
james
I recently started playing poker again. Finally got PT4 as well. This is my first full tracking software. I used to use Tournament Indicator. PT4 has been great, taking me a while to understand everything that it is spitting out though. Would it also be recommended to use Sidekick too or is that overdoing it?
Hi vinnie8887,
If getting badges for some achievements gets you motivated or you want to track your strategy points easily, go ahead and use Sidekick at the same time. But as far as I know there is no other benefits if you are already using another tracking software.

yeah, both has its ups and downs
I agree with what has been said, it seems HM is much friendlier for reports, filters etc...this can be important for someone not so experienced, i know I have struggled a lot with PT4 when i tried to get into reports etc...For someone more advanced though, PT4 is a more powerful tool i think...
Soo also if you play in 888 or pokerstar
I would not recommend using tracking software until you’ve played at least a thousand hands, whatever your preferred game type. The pace of online poker is very different from live play, and the extra software might distract or confuse you given that you're not already comfortable
I would only use tracking software if you are used to it, you afford this and win more money with it as well. Also, is a 1k sample not much at all. I think there are a lot of players that will play more hands on 1 day.
Rather than create a new thread, I thought I'd dig deeper here: I have been using PT4 for quite some time now and there's a ton I like about it. That said, I hadn't tried HM2 in a couple of years so I went for the free trial and there are advanced features that HM2 has that PT4 does not. Mainly as a result of the Notecaddy pro version available. That really adds a ton to the overall HUD experience.
I am doing almost all of my current studying here on PokerStrategy.com and over @ FTR. I've researched all the training sites and communities available today in 2017 and this (PS.com) is probably the best overall, and definitely the best for a micros player right now. No question. I've noticed a lot of your coaches and videos feature HM2. Almost exclusively. Why is this? It would cost me $128 total to get HM2 small stakes + NoteCaddy Pro. The money really isn't the issue since I have literally everything else as far as software goes to carry me for a long time. For someone in my position who is really trying to improve as much as they can, as fast as they can, and playing/studying full time: Would you guys suggest I invest in HM2 at this point? I know HM3's in beta and you can still get in if you purchase HM2 at this time. Further, it would provide a discount on HM3 and this is much closer to reality than PT5. So, all of that together and I'm wondering if I should switch HUDs and just get used to HM's design since the two development teams merged anyway and HM3 is what's next.
Thanks for any and all input. I really appreciate the feedback this community gives.
edit: In another thread I also saw several players say that they prefer HM2 for cash games. I am a cash game player. Just thought I'd add that in case it truly does matter.
imho, both HUD are great. I'm Using 2 HUDs right now , one is HM2 and the other is DriveHUD, tried used PT4 free-trial and it was good, user friendly and you can hardy make mistake with the setup. HM2 on the other hand, you can play with the setup that sometimes it breaks(better remember the email of their support:f_biggrin: )
Right now, my HM2 is for mainly hand analysis purposes and use my other HUD for actual play.

Thanks for your post.
I just heard back from HM2 support and they confirmed that if I buy HM2 now, I will get HM3 for free. So, for $128 I can get HM2 small stakes + Notecaddy Holdem Premium, and then HM3 for free, as well as access to their beta. On the other hand, $128 is $128 and I already have a great setup in PT4 here. I don't know if it's really worth the difference. PT4 is far more responsive and faster. Further, the HUD is just newer tech and fits/adjusts far, far better than the somewhat outdated HM2 HUD.
It is indeed a tough call. I think I'm just going to continue to utilize my PT4, as well as the HM2 trial, and then make a final decision. There really are a ton of addons and things for PT4 that I could get which would cost well under the HM2 $128 cost I'd have to bear and in all reality, it does seem like I access information and get reads from notes quicker with PT4. I'm downloading all sorts of stat and notetracker addons, too and starting to dig deeper into the software than ever before. As said, I'll continue to do that and tinker with HM2 now and then, also.
Just to follow up on this: I put in some volume last night and then dug into this hud situation even deeper because I wanted to put it to bed and move forward with whatever I'm going to use fully at this point. Bottom line: I'm sticking with PT4 and will probably just stroll over to PT5 when it releases. It's far, far more my style and everything about it is just faster, more practical, and easier to read/interpret during a live hand. I have 8GB of RAM and no matter what I do, HM2 is slow. It takes 2-3 seconds for popups and notes to appear in game and when they do, they're clunky, unresponsive, and buggy. I was 4 tabling 6max with PT4 last night profitably and there's no way I could do that with HM2. I just could never access the information I needed to quick enough to make accurate reads in time. Further, Notecaddy is phenomenal but again, the small stakes version (up to 50NL) of HM2 + Notecaddy is $128 USD. I've already had PT4 for a couple of years and I could add the ProPokerHuds 6max cash game HUD for just $99...if I even decide to get it. It's almost overkill at that point. With notetracker built into PT4 for free, and just TONS of free downloadable stats, notes, customizations, themes, etc, etc, etc - It really isn't even a decision. PT4 is miles ahead of HM2 right now.
So, now that I made that decision I'm just tailoring and customizing PT4 at this point. There really is no end to what you can do on the felt and in post game analysis with it. I can replay 10-15 hands in the same time it takes me to replay 1 or 2 in HM2 (truth). It's just so much more modern, sleeker, and faster.
Lastly: There were definitely people saying that HM2 + NoteCaddy Premium was better than PT4 for cash games but when I looked at the dates, all of these people were saying this like 3+ years ago. Since then, so much has been added to PT4 and so many companies started producing commercial addons for it, that there is just absolutely nothing you can't do with PT4 to improve your cash game play. It's actually *better* than HM2 for cash games now.
edit: Regarding 8 GB's of RAM and HM2 still slow - The support team on the HM2 forums and via email will tell you to buy more ram, a better motherboard, update to PostgreSQL higher than 9.3 (higher than 9.3 doesn't work with your PT4 database so you may lose everything if you perform this update prior to backing up your PT4 database. The HM2 staff certainly doesn't mention that), and even to just go out and buy a brand new computer. Now, I could have just thrown all of this advice in the trash as I know none of it would help nor is reasonable. Obviously the problem is the software and how dated it is at this point. Everyone complains how slow it is. Regardless, I spent a good 6 hours in the last 2 days uninstalling/reinstalling the newest version of PostgreSQL, defragging, and updating drivers, etc etc, and didn't receive even the slightest bit of improvement in HM2. I can also assure you that there's nothing in HM2 that's worth $128+ just to get started and THEN the cost of new hardware or an entirely new PC. To even suggest that a micro or low stakes player make that kind of investment simply so they can use a HUD/database inferior to PT4, is borderline criminal in my eyes lol. Save your time/money and get PT4.
good for you.
I'll stick with HM2 because i already have it and just wait for the upgrade. I do hope they put in a HUD Designer like in DriveHUD where in you just have to drag and drop to make your own setup.
Drivehud is much easier to use and also has a note app that's coming out soon. It already has a built in free badge system, and the hud designer blows hm2 or pt4 out of the water.
The good thing is there's free trials for hm2/pt4 and drivehud. But the future is going to be drivehud.
please advise wich poker room does not allow HM2 or PT4. I do not want play poker with program and against players with program.
I am good in live cash, but when i start playing cash on pokerstars - it's armagedon
Hey pharaonsgold,
You can find the supported rooms for PT4 and HM2 below:
Poker Tracker 4
Holdem Manager 2
To add to that, Party randomise HHs at cash tables which makes the using of HUDs obsolete. Also some rooms have changed their waiting lists to ensure that tracker users can't deliberately target weaker users by their stats.
