Good luck in the beautiful Denmark ![]()
Brings some warm clothes though - the weather is just awful right now.
OH MY GOD!
I just read the entire blog all in once.
I just can't believe what I read. You really got talent for this game!
I really hope you will manage through this downswing coach!!
Dustrial, thats what I thought too.
Timor, keep going! You are somewhat of an inspiration for all the aspiring pokerpros to keep pushing and folding.
And busted.
UTG (Iversen, pretty good Swedish player, pretty laggy too) raises UTG. I've seen him doing this with A7o and QTo before. MP, who knows he's raising light because I have seen him shoving over Iversens raises with A9o for 15BB (in early position situations), 3bets to 8.5BB. He has about 15BB left. I have AKs in SB and I have about 35BB (Iversen has me covered). Tough spot as I can't really raise/fold if Iversen shoves, folding is kinda out of the question either given what I saw before from both players, and calling OOP with what is essentially a drawing hand sucks too. On the other hand, putting 35BB in with AKs is not really something I'm thrilled about against 2 players, but if I manage to get it in vs MP alone I'm pretty happy about it.
Anyway, I push, Iversen pushes too and MP folds his JJ after a long thought. Iversen has AA, flop A22 and I'm out . Pretty disappointed with the outcome and with the tourney overall, but can't really say I made mistakes. It just wasn't my tourney I guess.
Well, I busted on day one but I certainly wasn't bored in Copenhagen, so perhaps a little trip report.
MONDAY:
Me and Rob deliberately took an afternoon flight because we're sleepyheads and sleep until at least noon. Everything went according as plan, our flight was delayed for 20 minutes, so no biggie, that's pretty standard variance. After a 90-minutes flight we arrived in Copenhagen. We didn't have any Danish Crones yet, but we were hungry and in the mood for Burger King (they don't have that here in Belgium, a real shame but always a party when we're abroad). No ATM anywhere in the airport so it seemed, but it turned out we were just blind and walked across one 3 times before noticing it.
We took a taxi to the hotel, and upon arrival we both agreed the hotel looked good.
When we first walked in the lobby of our hotel Rob couldn't help staring at legs walking by. When they were already passed me I said: "our first celebritys". Rob: "huh?", looking at them again he saw it was Dario Minieri and that Mercier girl. After checking in we went to our room, which unfortunately was pretty mediocre (no wardrobe closet for example). At least it was free, so can't complain about that.
We went downstairs and checked the players lounge. Playstation 3 with Guitar Hero, Wii, a big screen with EPT broadcasts and most important: free sandwiches and beer! Ship it. We saw Annette Obrestad playing Wii Golf and she was actually pretty good at it, because she kicked some other guys ass. Apparently she's competitive off of the poker tables as well.
Some PokerStars staff asked us to play along in their 50€ SNG, which we agreed on. Rob busted and I finished 3rd for...50€. We went to bed after a pretty nice first impression.
TUESDAY:
So, the first day of my first really big tournament. I was a little bit nervous tbh.
My plan was to play tight and let those Scandis bluff their chips away, and changing gears when the antes kicked it. I lost the first 4 pots I played, so not really a good start. Was down to 7.5k at one point. Then Iversen minraises blind UTG, something he has been doing quite a few times already. One caller, I have A9s in SB and call as well. flop AsAx8s. I bet, Iversen calls and other guy folds. Turn completes flushdraw and it would be pretty gross if he (bluff)raises me there because of the stack-to-pot-ratio, but I can't give a free card so I have to bet. He calls again and at that point I'm pretty sure he has an 8 or K-high, possibly with a spade. I really liked to 8 on the river for that reason, so I made a halfpot valuebet but he unfortunately folded after some thought.
A few hands later we get a family pot (5 people), with me having AQ. Flop QhTh8, PFA and fishy guy check/calls my potsize bet and the rest folds. Turn is an offsuit 9, and he check/folds after taking a really long time.
Another AQ, I raise UTG and BB calls. Flop 66T, I cbet and Villain folds.
The rest of my hands are all preflop and not really worth mentioning. So basically I played about 10 hands postflop. Lost AA < TT for 5k. Next thing I know I bust (see post above). After I busted I got over it pretty fast. So yeah I just blew almost 7k€ but whatever, it felt more like a freeroll because I basically only put about 150$ into it.
Gonna write some more about the rest of the week later on, am pretty tired now. I will post some funny pics and movies as well
Lost my password there, and when I want to retrieve it the application doesn't work.
TUESDAY:
So after I busted I went on to the players lounge with Rob. We drank some Carlsberg and played Guitar Hero World Tour for the first time in our lives. That game was pretty fun actually, I'm thinking about buying it myself. The songs are great and it's really addictive. We were also in the company of a sports celebrity:

Other poker celebrities we came across: Peter Eastgate, Juha Helpi,...
We got into a chat with Joe, a Californian guy who had busted as well already. He was looking for some company to go out in the center of the city. Of course we agreed to that, but first:some more mindless boozing! We grabbed some more free Carlsberg and decided to take a breathalyzer test (the policy in Denmark is to have 0 pro mille when you're driving, that's why they're around I guess). After 4 beers Rob got this:

Me on the other hand, got this whopping result after the same amount of beers:
Weird, because I felt perfectly okay ^^. Well, I'm 30 centimeters shorter than him but that's no excuse, I had at least as much practice.
We went off to the city centre but unfortunately found out that Tuesdays aren't the greatest days for going out in beautiful Copenhagen. No decent club was open. After some wandering around, we came across a bar that was apparantly packed with Americans and British people because they were all standing in front of it. We decided to go in, hoping not all girls would be British. Thank god there were also some Scandinavian girls inside. Damnit, why don't they have such beatiful girls in Belgium. Blonde, cute, nice, everything a guy's heart desires. I have no idea why Rob didn't take any pictures of them. Damn that guy ^^.

Me and Joe

Overview of the bar.
After the bar closed we wandered around some more in the center. Rob wanted to go to a strip club but all of them were either closed, were too expensive or had ugly girls. I guess we were already in the "dirty" part of Copenhagen because some prostitute started talking to us. Rob bargained the price downwards, at first she refused and still made her price fixed to 1000 Crones (about 130€), but eventually she gave in and asked only 300 Crones anymore. Then Rob said dryishly that he wasn't interested, and gave her 30 Crones for the effort. Lol.
We decided to call it a night and returned to the hotel.

Nice post Timor.
The rules about drinking and driving in Denmark is that you're allowed to have a pro mille up to 0.5 ♦
Well, I'm going to share the cliffnotes of my EPT trip with you guys, because things are becoming blurry in my mind again and I don't really feel a lot for making a long blogpost.

Again.

10k SNG with Ziigmund,Boeken,... . Notice the hot blond girl in the back, she was easily one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen...She asked us if we wanted to join her to go shopping the day after that, but we overslept :/. Given the fact that her boyfriend was not exactly what you'd call a stud, I think we might've even stood a chance :P.

Featured table
Visited the erotica museum, saw some pretty funky and funny stuff there, but those are XXX-rated
If you're ever in Copenhagen: visit it, it's not really spectacular, but certainly a nice hour of amusement.
On Friday we (me, Rob, Joe and Jason (a friend of Joe's)) went out clubbing, but first we went to the 7/11 for some predrinking.
Kill your brain!! ♦
Anyways, we went into Club Luux where an official EPT party was held. Immediately we lost Joe inside the club, and after some searching we found him sitting next to Annette Obrestad, lol. We joined the table and had a pretty fun time with Annette and 3 friends of her. Unfortunately I was too drunk to have a decent conversation with our million dollar baby
I kept on saying that I liked her competitiveness and don't really remember anything apart from that. I hope I didn't come across as some complete drunk retard, because she's a really sweet and down-to-earth girl. I had a good conversation with a friend of hers (and if I may add, the cutest one of the 3). Later on Rob cursed me for not making a move on her because it was clear she was into me, according to him. A missed opportunity, that's for sure. No pics of her unfortunately, but some other ones:

Thanks Annette!

I don't know how the evening ended, but I do know I woke up in the hotel room with a pretty sizeable hangover. Couldn't care less about that, it was a pretty baller night once again ♦

Rest of the trip was pretty standard: some chilling in the players lounge (long live Guitar Hero), some sightseeing, some shopping and we went out one night again where nothing really spectacular happened. All in all a pretty good trip worth doing again, although the way overpriced drinks and food in the hotel are somewhat of a negative point.
As for poker related news: I play some NL200FR nowadays as this is very easily beatable and quite low-variance. Gonna rebuild my roll to +/-20k$ (I'm at 11k$ atm) playing that and then we'll see what I'm in the mood for.
Once again I was quite disappointed this Sunday as I managed to finish 37th in the Sunday Warmup for 1.5k$, but it could've been a lot more because I was 3th in chips an hour before that with 88 players left to go. I'm quite happy with the way I played that tournament, I feel my MTT game has seriously improved the last weeks and months. I didn't even had to suckout once to get this deep, but needless to say fairness doesn't mean anything to the poker gods as I got busted out of the tournament with KK<K9 for 20BB against the weakest player on the table. The 1.5k$ is still pretty nice but quite frankly I was so disappointed with the outcome I couldn't care less about the money.
Maybe I'll try to qualify for EPT San Remo, Italy is pretty nice during the spring...
Grrr!!
Just finished 7th in the 50k gtd for 1.8k$...after being 3rd in chips for 50BB.
Some history:
Table was very aggro, lots of 3- and 4-betting. Just 2 hands ago, Villain called a 4-bet for 55BB with AQ and got there vs KK. He 3-betted about 16% percent of his hands so far.

Hehe, originally they filmed a lot more. They were here filming for 4 hours but eventually ended up showing just 1 minute. Had to fake some tells but that didn't make it into the show. Ah well, the program sucks anyway, so no big deal. What sucks even more is this:
I'm really starting to get fed up with the way I run. This has been going on for months now and it doesn't seem to be stopping. Maybe it's time to reevaluate some things.
