PokerStars - 10/20 Ante 3 NL - Holdem - 8 players

MP: 3,094 (VPIP: 57.14, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
MP+1: 1,419 (VPIP: 28.57, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
CO: 2,038 (VPIP: 13.04, PFR: 8.70, 3Bet Preflop: 10.00, Hands: 23)
Hero (BTN): 1,449
SB: 1,886 (VPIP: 57.14, PFR: 57.14, 3Bet Preflop: 100.00, Hands: 7)

8 players post ante of 3, SB posts SB 10, BB posts BB 20

Pre Flop: (pot: 54) Hero has K♥ Q♣

UTG raises to 40, fold, MP calls 40, fold, fold, fold, SB calls 30, BB calls 20

Should I be 3bet this hand in this spot? I feel like its a raise or fold spot.

Thanks for the comments,
Nate

We are playing in the early phase of the tournament and in position as well. I don’t think this is bad to call only here, because 3bet bluff will never work in a 25c SNG and folding seems a little bit tight with position.

Yeah, MP played 4/7 hands before, so is likely a fish and we have position on him. But it seems like SB is going crazy. I think folding is fine.

I do like to 3 bet KQ, maybe not in this tournament.
It increases my 3 bet range and because I have a K and Q it reduces the AK, AQ,KK, QQ hands utg opened with meaning its more likey he has medium holdings and will fold.

Of course just becuase they are less likely doesnt mean he doesnt have them. So play carefully if called or you may be making a hole for yourself.

Even with less fishy players I wouldn’t 3bet often in a multiway situation from the BTN with KQo in a spot like this. Then you need to have some good fold to 3bet stats on both players I think.

I think at this level players just like calling so a 3 bet isn't good and a call and playing in position is.

I always though KQ was good to 3 bet with as it cuts out a lot of a players range.

It we give a hand range of AA-TT,AK,AQ,AJ - 78 possible hands
With KQ we reduce it to -64 hands

Thats less than I thought, and polarises his range by removing a middle chunk of possible hands.

If he only folds AJ thats 25% of his range being folded - not enough to 3 bet light.

Looking into it, it isn't good to 3 Bet UTG with KQ, but I think 3 betting later positions or loose UTG players that have AT, KJ type hands in there range is fine with KQ.

Thats the useful thing about these forums, It nice to work this out and realise errors or better plays.
