So when someone is bluffing they're lying about their hand.
Which means that The real Skill is Not to catch a Bluff, but the ability to Spot a Lie.
There are Three levels of sophistication.
Knowing which level your opponents are gives you a great advantage.
Level 1: Analyzing The Cards.
This is when a player concentrates only on the cards
This is someone who waitsto play only premium hands and perhaps always calculate pot odds.
Usually, this type of players play TIGHT and fairly see through. (He's better of playing Limit)
Level 2: Analyzing The Players.
This is the person who understands that to win at No Limit Holdm you got to Play The Players,
not only the cards.
This is the guy who sits there all night and Studies your every move, cause he's convinced there are secret
tells behind every player, and he will do Anything to figure them out.
You can spot a player like this by watching himwhen the cards come out.
If he's watching YOU, rather than rather than looking at his cards, then he's probably in the second stage
of Sophistication.
Level 3: Analyzing How Players Will Analyze You.
level 1 players are easy to beat. You can bluff them out of big pots, rile them up, and thensit back until you
catch a monster and put them all in.
level 2 players are harder to beat, because they ubderstand the Cardinal Rule of no limit holdm, which is to
PLAY THE PLAYERS NOT THE CARDS.
You cant always push them around the table, which means you have to devise a different strategy.
Which way level 3 is so powerful.
Because when your a level player, you Know that the level 2 palyers are Analyzing you, and you simply stay ONE
STEP AHEAD of them.
A level 3 player is someone who gets pocket aces before the flop and takes forever to call a preflop raise.
Why?? Because by taking his time and making it look like he's making a contemplating decision, the level 3 player knows
HIS OPPONENTS WILL THINK THEY CAN BLUFF HIM out of the hand.
Sure enough, after the flop one of the level 2 players will go all in trying to buy the pot, not knowing they just fell
right into the level 3 players trap.
To be a level 3 player, you got to ADOPT YOUR STYLE OF-PLAY ACCORDING TO WHAT THE OTHER PLAYERS THINK ABOUT YOU.
Thats the key.
Sklansky: It doesnt matter if you win or lose, the only thing that matters did you play well.
So if your losing your good game will make more money than soemeone that plays not that well cause they
would lost more.
If you want you can induce a check in multiway pots through timetells, you make it look like you have a decision to make.
