Hey Tenkicker,

just wanted to give you my impression of NL2 and what I would have done in those spots.
I rarely call a raise on NL2, because their bluff to value ratio is too small to be good often enough unless I have the nuts.
Your first hand is a good example:
He is calling your open raise, which he can (and should) do with a pretty wide range on the button.
But I don't think a real range analysis on NL2 makes sense at all,
there are too many people spazzing around with the weirdest hands imaginable.
In this spot he is calling you on the flop, he is calling your turn bet and he is raising your river bet.
The only thing that makes me consider to call here is that he is not shoving his stack, what players
on NL2 tend to do, when they have the nuts on the river. Still think it's a fold though.

I don't really get what you expect to beat in the second hand. You only beat Tx or 9x,
there are flushes better two pairs trips and even straights possible. I don't mind the first call vs SB on the river,
even though we're beat most of the time, you get a reasonably good price, but against the raise of UTG and the call
of SB you're beat 110% of the time. Never ever call in this spot !

I will post a video of my approach on NL2 Zoom, which is arguably not the most efficient one,
but definitely a winning style. Let me know what you think.:f_drink:

Fold both hands!

Turn/river raises are usually pretty nutted so you want to call pretty tight most of the time unless you have more info.

Also hand 1 I'd bet both flop and turn a bit bigger to get max value from draws or pair+draw type hands. River is close, I guess we can bet for thin value against hands like KQ/AJ especially if they have a diamond but checking is a good option too imo as he might just fold those hands anyway. Check/call vs a small bet (half pot or less) in case he wants to make a thin value bet himself or to bluffcatch and just check/fold vs bigger bets. Plus he'll check back a good amount of the time here as well in which case we pretty much always beat him at showdown without having to put any more money in the pot with a relatively marginal holding.

Will be following, gl sir :f_drink:

I do agree with everything your saying, trying to range a 2nl player is impossible! Thanks for the feedback was very helpful, let me know when that video is up would love to watch

UPDATE

Results:

Hands: 1018
Profit: $3.83

Total Results:

Hands: 5076
Profit: $23.51
bb/100: 23.16

I am playing well atm, wouldn't say I'm playing as well as I could I made some very bad calls tonight and cost myself more profit :f_o:

At the normal 6max tables what is considered a good sample size? I know zoom tables is around 100k hands but I'm thinking the reg tables should be less maybe around 20k hands maybe?

Hey TenKicker,

since the variance is the same no matter if you're playing reg or zoom tables, the sample size that should be considered a good sample size, should be the same.
And yes I guess 100k is a good start. The variance on a 100k sample size is still big enough though, that your winrate may differ at least by +/- 2bb/100 on your achieved winrate. A 5bb/100 winning player (after 100k hands) could actually be a 3-7BB/100 winning player.

I guess thats right, i disagree on the variance between zoom and reg? I think zoom tables you come up against pp and big hands a lot more often, people at reg tables get bored and spaz out with A5 much more often

Well I guess you're right for micro and low stakes. People are more inclined to fold until they get a good hand at zoom tables.
I don't think you'll see much of a difference on NL100+

UPDATE

Had my first losing day playing nl2 reg tables today which was fairly tragic, was up 4 BI halfway through the session and wish I just quit now!

Results:

Hands: 2153
Profit: $4.45

Total Results:

Hands: 7229
Profit: $19.06
BB/100: 13.18

Very dissapointing end to the session, every board was running out against me no matter what I had, ran top set into straights more than once, ran aces into a flopped set of 10s.

We go again tomorrow :f_drink:

Your graph looks better now. Don’t forget if you have a link of your picture that you click on the picture button first before you copy paste it in your post:

That’s weird. Another option would be to drag the file of the picture in to your post and then your picture will be automatic uploaded here. Then you don’t need to use an extern site to upload your pictures.

This was my thoughts tbh, takes a long time to grind up a decent winnings and not long whatsoever to lose it!

I wouldn't say it is complete waste of time. It is good practice.
I know it doesn't pay very well but you can only look how many big blinds you have won, and if you are crushing it, be happy about it :)

If you are just beginning your poker career you will probably jump up and down for quite some time before you reach a good steady winrate at a higher limit so you can really earn money.

If you get a lot of experience at NL2 and can plug some of your leaks before moving up, you will save money.
