I guess he is having a T or a 2. Maybe even a flush or just a K or Q. A small pocket pair could be possible but I think he would have raised you all-in preflop with that.

On ace-high board the most people over fold on flop. His calling range will become a little bit wider as usual because he calls on flop also with FD combos.
It´s unlikely that villain shoves a flush on river he has showdown value with a flush and if he shoves then he will most of the time run into a fullhouse if u call.
So shoving makes no sense. Hands like JJ+ are raising preflop so u can discount them already.
In my opinion the most people are not bluffing often on these boards so I would just fold.

It’s a weird shove for sure, but I doubt he will ever shove with less or he don’t know what he’s doing, but his stats looks decent of him.

I guess with 88 we can check also a decent amount of the time on flop.
If we cbet and get called I think that often only better hands call. With 88 we can strength also our turn check call range.
