Best of luck to your new Job Xanham!
Thanks, I'm happy so far and had a relaxed start. I'll also learn a lot.
Still looking forward to playing poker and streaming a bit this weekend!
Hey guys,
new job is interesting so far, I'm happy with it
First time I work for a big company too.
But working 40+ hours per week requires a new schedule for my twitch stream. Also slightly related to the fact that I have to get up at 7 am on most days
:
Monday - Thursday ~22 pm CE(S)T (actually a bit earlier today)
Occasional extra weekend streams
Sometimes I'll have to skip a stream though, like tomorrow. FeelsBadMan.
Hey guys. can't stream this week, too much work. Might fire up a stream on the weekend. Cheers
Hi Xanham,
Nice blog and subbed ![]()
Look forward to watching your next stream and hopefully learning some spin tips ![]()
Regards and good luck at the tables
Matt
Hey, thanks!
Unfortunately, due to my job, I have to cancel my current stream schedule, because I'm required to travel to the client site on most weeks between Monday and Thursday. Those were exactly my fixed streaming days. I don't think streaming on laptop + hotel WiFi is fun. ![]()
I'll still try to stream on some weekends, and some occasions when I stay at home during the week. Make sure to follow me on Twitch! I'm closing my Twitter account because I use it too rarely.
Let's conclude with something fun. Daily quads, from last stream - aka "allright, I call". ![]()

Hero wins 41 BB
Hey guys, how is it going?
After the first month in my now job, I'm really happy. However, my poker volume sucked. But hey, at least my chipEV was good.

Couldn't do much about the volume. I didn't track my time spent, because I got a new smartphone (Honor 9, really nice) and ****ed up the data transfer.
June 2018 goals
In June, I want to improve volume. Somehow. No idea how
I'll try to get better at multitabling so I can play 4 tables consistently (when not streaming). I'll need to improve my fitness and stamina, because right now I'm too exhausted after work to fully spend the evenings on poker. But I'll be out of town a lot due to work. I'll already have to carry 2 work laptops (and explain it to airport security). Not sure if I wanna bring a 3rd one for poker.
So let's try this:
[ ] Play 750+ spins: 150 per weekend + some
[ ] 1-2 twitch streams per weekend
[ ] chipEV 50+
[ ] When travelling, focus on studying
[ ] Work on physical fitness and stamina: Running + back/core workout each 2x/week
[ ] Improve nutrition: Reduce caffeine and carbonhydrates, esp. sugar;
[ ] Quit smoking
The last point will be both challenging and interesting. It's not a good time with loads of work and a full, stressful schedule. But then again it's never a good time, right?
I'll give you this quick tip I've used in my life to improve stamina that seems super weird, but it's sooooooo good.
Stop using elevators, use the stairs instead. Seriously. It will change your life.
Other than that good luck on the new goals, improving at multitabling keeping your a game is a challenge. Not as big as explaining three laptops at airport security though, I know the feels.

I agree until like me you fall up the stairs!!
Glad to read your new job is going well and sure your find a ways to balance poker and work life.
I quit smoking and found that vaping really helped me to wean off successfully.
Looking forward to reading more successful results.
Hey guys, thanks for the advice!

It's good and I do it when I can!

Vaping nicotine free I assume? I'll think about it.
Indeed
But even if your just starting I would recommend coming down from 6mg to 3mg over a few months and then go nicotine free.
One of the biggest problems for us in the UK is that it cost more than smoking to buy ready made bottles of e-juice (that taste nice)
If you want to cut down on cost you can always make your own and it is easier than you think (and I know a lot of recipes). There are very little bad chemicals than you get in normal tobacco too. It worked out that I was spending around £100 a week on vape and £12 a week if I made them myself

Stop using elevators, use the stairs instead. Seriously. It will change your life.We tend to be over sedentary, if you don't want to get to a place all sweaty and stuff, just maybe take the elevator half the way, do the rest walking (going downstairs always cbet 100%).
Also, walk on escalators. Try to walk as much as you can, moving that body around.
I live on the 3rd floor in an old building (high ceilings) with no lift. I rarely have any opportunities to take bigger stairs. It's still good! But with stamina I mean longer stuff
I do enjoy running, I just need to do it more often and create a habit.
My poker volume problem is mostly about energy level and management. I want to be fit for longer periods of physical and mental activities. I have ideas, things to try, but it all takes time an patience. Damn. I'm not a patient person
About vaping: Thanks for the tips! I'm still a bit sceptical, because I prefer to be fully free, not replace a bad habit with a less bad one. Also any method to reduce Nicotine over time is not the right for me (it might be for others!). I also know people who vape and can't stop - just like with cigarettes. Some even go back to cigarettes from time to time. Especially when drunk
But if I fail the old fashioned way, I'll give it a try.
Allright, back from my first work trip. It was only 3 days this time (will usually be 4+). But too tired to stream or play tonight.
Last weekend I played roughly the planned 150 games. But after a good Saturday with decent volume and a long-ish stream, I had a super bad Sunday. I went on a short but heavy tilt session for 30 games.
What sucks the most is that I thought I'm beyond this. And that I'm not sure why it happened. I was in a good mood and results don't matter much to me. All I know is I played too fast (on 3 tables), because I want to improve multitabling. And I ran into coolers a lot so part of it was unlucky, but eventually just played bad (or maybe from the start).
I guess with that one session I ****ed up my whole June results. I'll try to post a graph mid-month. Remind me if I don't
I don't wanna check chipEV right now, but I guess it's now ruined.
But hey, good old Bob says there are

.. so we'll see how it goes. I'm motivated to play. But a bit insecure about my game after that happy accident.
2nd reminder. Stay motivated. Do it for us little league players. So that we can go on and brag about these sick grinders that we only know from the forums.
Hey guys, I'm still alive ♦ But drowning in work. With travel times (plane) I'm working 50-55 hours / week.
I don't really have the time to post updates on a regular basis... FeelsBadMan
So I'm sorry, but for now I'll focus on studying and grinding. I had a bad poker month in June, stayed below my volume goal and had my first ever "losing" month (cEV below 32 on 15s). It's not the end of the world (small sample, ~600 games) but it's a sign that I need to be more careful with my time and energy. I'm still around 50 cEV long-term on 15s.
The saddest part for me is that I don't have the time to stream. I hope I can do some irregular weekend streams from time to time just for fun.
Edit: Health/fitness stuff:
Oh and I'm still trying to quit smoking. Wasn't very successful so far, only had a few smoke-free days. I'm giving it another shot now, and if it doesn't work I'll change to e-cigarettes for the time being.
One good thing about my job is that I have a decent hotel (Hilton Bonn) with a fitness room, small pool as well as the possibility to go running next to the Rhine river. Very nice - I started with running to get some basic stamina (Nike Run Club app newbie coach program) and will add some back / core workouts or swimming soon.
Hey, Good luck with your goals. Crush this month!
BTW, I heard a great way to quit a bad habit is to have an "accountability" partner. Paying him 50$ every time you slip should eventually do the trick. Either by making you quit or leaving you with no money for cigarettes. Soooo, I guess I'll make a huge sacrifice here and be that guy, should I send you my skrill now or later?
Hey Constantin11, thanks, that's very nice of you! ![]()
I might even do it if it would help. But it doesn't - that's why most people don't quit smoking when pack prices increase. It's completely irrational. Everyone know smoking is stupid
