I started playing on PokerStars today, making the switch from Unibet. I must say the difference in level is night and day even at the microstakes. Anyway, I was doing well, getting to a 240 BB stack until disaster hit and I lost nearly half of it.
I'm a bit unsure about how well I handled this situation, starting from the flop. It's a 3-way pot at this stage. I have AKs, am in position and have a flush draw. SB bets, BB raises, hero calls. Correct call, or my first mistake?
I hit the flush on the turn. I figure there is not much that can go wrong at this point so I decide to slowplay and just check it back - I guess this was very wrong - possibly my 2nd mistake.
The river brings another 9 so here I realise I could be beat, but when my opponent bets, I'm thinking his range at this point indeed contains pocket 4s, pocket 3s, pocket 9s (hands that have me beat), but also any A9 and maybe even K9/Q9, and possibly a lower flush like QJ/QT/JT/87/76. So I raise.
When he 3-bets all-in, I know I can rule out anything that is not a flush, but I thought it was too small to fold - possibly my 3rd mistake.
So was this very poor play, slightly poor play or do you just accept that this is poker and move on? Any comments are welcome, be it about my play on the flop, the turn or the river.
