Hello, here pokersnowie advise fold on the flop, which I agree is better, but on the turn it suggests that call is better? Can anybody give me reasonable explanation why it is better to call on the turn than fold?

The only reason I think of you could call the turn is that you have more outs to win and on the flop you have only backdoor outs or an ace that could help you.

do you think that ppl 3-bet AT or A8 from SB? cause this is what we beat. Pretty often if we flop an Ace, we will be behind and we will lose. We will not stand the aggression we will face OTF and OTT, except if we flop trips or better, which will happen so rarely and most probable we won't get paid often enough.

I would 4-bet bluff if I have info about the villain being LAG and never call, even being in position because we have so much more card-disadvantage which probably can't be compensated by skill+position advantages.

To Jakks:

People 3-bet A2-A5s often. Also we have to play not against one hand (like "we beat AT and A9"), but rather against whole range (for example,in 20 % we'll hit A on the flop, and his TT-KK or 22-55 wouldn't look as great as preflop).

Against 10 % polar range we stay pretty good. You can change some bluffs (like other SC) or ad KQs etc. - it doesn't change much... So, why we have to fold such a good hand in position or turn it into a bluff (thus removing over positional advantage)?

GL my friend :f_drink:

Against 10 % polar range we stay pretty good.

ppl 3bet way tighter than you think, especially from SB. Let's check the below, I am not saying my way of thinking is correct but some hands are called "trouble hands" for a reason - so we flop an A in 20% of the time and if the villain has underpair he will check, we bet and we win the pot in the ideal case. And here is the math, so we are slightly behind even if we win in 20% of the times.

(0.62*20%)-(0.25*80%)= -0.08

What about when he has AQ or AK? AK is a very big percentage of our and his 3betting range... The picture looks pretty ugly in the long run. I would call a 3bet only with hands which play good post-flop and can win big pots when we hit to compensate for the times we miss.

In my understanding 4bet is way more profitable than calling a 3bet with AJo.

:f_biggrin: Yap, poker is so simple - we can just calculate it...

Spoiler

I didn't say we win in 20 % of time! We can see A-high board in 20 % of time! And we have some other good hands in our calling range! I mean that 4-beting with bluff smthg like A4-A2s, K9-K5s is much better! Bluff is only a bluff! We want our opp to fold after we bluff-4-betting! It's the meaning of the word ''bluff''! So we can use "semi-junk" suited hands with blocker, because they are weak and will not play good in 3-way pot, but if villain has a weak hand - he'll fold anyway (whether we have AJo or K6s). It will be very tough decision if we'll see 5-bet-jam to our 4 bet with AJo... Insted we can easily fold real bluff like weak A or K... But AJ-AQ play well in 3-bet-pot in position BUTvsSB (the image from Equilab in previous post) In that way we maximizing our EV.

In my understanding 4bet is way more profitable than calling a 3bet with AJo.

OK, it's your decision.

P.S.

Spoiler

Little tip: I'd 3-bet from SB smthg near 17 % against you.. :roto2: because you

would call a 3bet only with hands which play good post-flop and can win big pots when we hit to compensate for the times we miss.

.. Autoprofit! :truestory:

Agree with this. And also there are many different ways this hand can play out. It is not just "he checks, we bet, we win". We could miss the flop, he could check, we could check behind, he could check the turn, we could bet and we could win without a hit or with a hit. Or then we xxxx and he xxxx and we xxxx and he xxxx and so on. Replace the xxxx with any action or any card that comes.

My point is that thinking we can just say "we hit 20% of the time so our EV is -0.08" is not accurate and it is almost funny to think like that. And also worrying about couple of combos in a range of dozens of combinations of hands.

And lastly, SB should mostly defend by 3betting here. I don't 100% agree with the statement that they are not 3betting or doing it with just good AX hands. We have position which gives us a nice advantage. I think AJo is definitely playable in these positions.

Snowie suggests AJ is a call because it assumes that opponent bluffs often enough on the turn, and check/folds often enough on river which is not the case in reality on NL2-Nl100. Regarding preflop, it is very standard call vs 3bet unless you have a read that opponent is tight.

snowie suggests you to fold flop because your hand doesn't have playability to improve to nut hand, and only 3 outs to dominated top pair. On the turn, you have 4 outs to the nuts and once he checks on blank river you win often enough with check behind meaning you have a bluff catcher on the turn with nut potential. Compare AJ with 88-JJ hands, both are bluff catchers and both will win similar % of time on river once villain checks and both will fold vs river bet which makes AJ a bit better bluff catcher than 88-JJ due to having more outs for nut potential. 7x, Qx has 5 outs for 2 pair or trips but still has good equity. Anyway all those 88-JJ, 7x, Qx, AJ hands are no brainer fold vs turn barrel on NL2-NL100 especially on KQxxx board which hits very well SB range.

Thanks everyone for making my day

Snowie isn't that great anyway, it's no wonder you find weird spots with it. A coach for another site says it's crap, and the coach Ilares says it's nearly only worth it for multiway spots.
If I had to explain it though I'd go for my predecessor's way.

I think a new Snowie discussion thread would be better for that :pcuser:

But I'm still going to tell my opinion about this here :f_biggrin:
Imo Snowie is a good tool if you know how to use it and use it for the right purpose. I sometimes check what Snowie would do because that is often close to "optimal" but I know it doesn't apply in micros. I use it for studying and learning to look situations from many different angles. I often think what are the reasons behind Snowie's suggestion and then think about how well it applies at the micros and what changes we should do. But I never use it to just check how some spots should be played and then apply that at the microstakes without thinking about it.

Snowie can definitly be helpful in some spots. But in some other spots its doing wired stuff. I dont use snowie anymore if i want to know how to play optimal in some spots then i take a solver. Snowie is not playing gto.
In a solver i can also insert my own ranges and make node-locks if i need it.

Yea I agree that solvers are better for this. Sometimes it just takes a lot more time so I end up using Snowie. But since they took out the starter subscription and now it would cost 99$ / year I probably stop using it too.
