The Three Stooges

My new approach when it comes to fighting off donks: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

In the previous hand, CO blew off almost a full stack with a 53os that hit bottom pair, but didn't reload.

PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: $3.60 (VPIP: 72.73, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 11)
Hero (UTG): $12.25
CO: $0.06 (VPIP: 100.00, PFR: 33.33, 3Bet Preflop: 50.00, Hands: 3)
BTN: $5.00 (VPIP: 23.81, PFR: 21.43, 3Bet Preflop: 6.45, Hands: 86)
SB: $5.00 (VPIP: 14.81, PFR: 9.26, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 56)

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has J♥ K♦

Hero raises to $0.15, CO calls $0.06 and is all-in, fold, fold, BB calls $0.10

Flop: ($0.38, 3 players) 4♣ 9♥ Q♣
BB bets $0.05, Hero calls $0.05

Turn: ($0.48, 3 players) A♥
BB bets $0.05, Hero raises to $0.15, BB calls $0.10
(half-hearted attempt to bluff my opponent out of the pot)

River: ($0.78, 3 players) Q♥
BB bets $0.05, Hero calls $0.05
(calling because the bet was so pointlessly small)

BB shows J♠ T♣ (One Pair, Queens)
(Pre 25%, Flop 31%, Turn 17%)
Hero shows J♥ K♦ (One Pair, Queens)
(Pre 50%, Flop 18%, Turn 12%)
CO shows 9♠ 3♣ (Two Pair, Queens and Nines)
(Pre 25%, Flop 51%, Turn 71%)
Hero wins $0.65
CO wins $0.19

CO later went on to run his $0.06 up to $1.29 in true "chip & chair" fashion during the next few hands, but eventually got busted out anyway, despite some solid ICM shoves.

Scoopage!

In Omaha 8 (aka Omaha Hi/Lo Split) half the pot goes to the best poker hand, and half to the worst.

The best outcome is getting both

There were so many Hand-of-the-Day candidates from this tournament, but this was my biggest win and set me up to cash.

PokerStars - 1200/2400 Hi/Lo (6 max) - Omaha Hi/Lo - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (UTG): 28,266
CO: 12,904 (16.67/0.00/0.00/18 (V/P/3/H)
BTN: 16,450 (33.33/0.00/0.00/18 (V/P/3/H)

BB: 25,900 (77.78/22.22/0.00/9 (V/P/3/H)

SB posts SB 600, BB posts BB 1,200

Pre Flop: (pot: 1,800) Hero has 4♣:2♥:9♦:A♣:
This is a mediocre hand -- it lacks high cards and the 9♦: is unconnected from the others.

Hero raises to 2,400, fold, fold, SB calls 1,800, BB calls 1,200
Still worth a raise, though

Flop: (7,200, 3 players) A♠:7♠:8♣:
SB bets 1,200, BB calls 1,200, Hero calls 1,200

Turn: (10,800, 3 players) K♥:
SB bets 2,400, BB calls 2,400, Hero calls 2,400

River: (18,000, 3 players) 3♣:
SB bets 2,400, BB calls 2,400, Hero raises to 4,800, SB raises to 6,556 and is all-in, BB calls 4,156, Hero raises to 7,200, BB calls 644
The 3♣: gives me the nut low, and with 3 people in, even half the pot means I chip up, and If I can get the others to fold (which I expected) I get it all.
Hero shows 4♣:2♥:9♦:A♣: (High: One Pair, Aces, Low: 7432A)
(Pre 51%, Flop 64%, Turn 74%)
SB mucks 9♥:2♦:7♥:5♦: (High: One Pair, Sevens, Low: 7532A)
(Pre 12%, Flop 16%, Turn 10%)
BB mucks T♥:5♥:7♦:6♦: (High: One Pair, Sevens, Low: 7653A)
(Pre 37%, Flop 21%, Turn 17%)
Hero wins 38,956

Have a great weekend!

Good ol' Unibet donks

Context: we probably have around 80 hands with this villain at the table and he's bluffing like a madman. He's actually had some fair success with it so far, because that's what can happen when a player turns poker into a lottery. He's up by about 20 BB from his buy-in amount. But he can never stay successful forever... right?

NLHE €0.02/€0.04, 6 seat

SB: 92 BB
BB: 80.5 BB
MP+2: 108.3 BB
CO: 48 BB
BTN: 163 BB (hero)

Hero has 8♦:7♦:

Pre Flop (€0.06)
2 fold, Hero raises to €0.12, SB folds, BB raises to €0.20, Hero calls €0.08

Flop (€0.41, 2 players) 7♥:3♠:7♣:
BB bets €0.04, Hero raises to €0.20, BB raises to €0.36, Hero calls €0.16

I decide to just call his re-raise rather than going ahead with another raise, because he may as well have A7 or something. But his min-betting on the flop has been a tell of him playing rather weak hands so far, so I'm still feeling fairly confident.

Turn (€1.12, 2 players) Q♣:
BB bets €0.85, Hero calls €0.85

River (€2.81, 2 players) Q♠:
BB bets €1.81 and is all-in, Hero?

Oh my goodness, if he has something like KQ, I'm losing it. But he's been bluffing so much, I can't turn this down...

Spoiler

Hero calls €1.81

Showdown (€6.40, 2 players)
BB shows A♦:T♦:, Two pairs, Queens up
Hero shows 8♦:7♦:, Full house, Sevens full

Hero wins €6.40

Sorry, but it is J8 offsuit that is the new nutz.
You run great risk by playing the suited, inferior version of Jack-Eight

In other words -- NICE HAND!
(and magnificent sound bite)

There was a short stacked, splashy villain at the table, who could also be expected to be on tilt because he dumped off half his stack to my nut flush in the previous hand. So my pocket Jacks were a welcome sight. The flop was even more welcome.

When you wish your opponent had a bigger stack

Unibet NLHE €0.02/€0.04, 6 seat

SB: 106 BB
BB: 33.25 BB
MP+2: 101 BB (hero)
CO: 75.75 BB
BTN: 52 BB

Hero has A♣:A♦:

Pre Flop (€0.06)
Hero raises to €0.12, 1 folds, BTN calls €0.12, SB folds, BB calls €0.08

Flop (€0.37, 3 players) A♠:Q♦:4♦:
BB bets €0.10, Hero calls €0.10, BTN folds

I was unsure if I should call or raise here. I don't want my opponents to see a cheap turn to complete their flush, but I don't want them to fold either. And my Ad rules out many of their diamond combos, so I only face a couple of broadways and suited connectors. Any comments?

Turn (€0.57, 2 players) Q♠:
BB bets €0.10, Hero raises to €0.28, BB raises to €0.46, Hero calls €0.18

No more fear of a flush, so just gently letting my opponent bring his chips to the table. His re-raise means serious strength though.

River (€1.48, 2 players) 8♣:
BB bets €0.65 and is all-in, Hero calls €0.65

Showdown (€2.77, 2 players)
BB shows A♥:Q♥:, Full house, Queens full
Hero shows A♣:A♦:, Full house, Aces full

Hero wins €2.77

I actually felt for Villain here, that's pretty sick to walk into and I suppose anyone would have busted all their chips on that hand.

Slowplay gone wrong

Unibet Banzai NL10

Banzai is a 6-seat format where you can only buy in with 10 BB. It's a high variance game, but if you manage to grow a stack, it becomes very profitable as you just pick off the incoming shorties.

SB: 39.1 BB
BB: 76.2 BB (hero)
MP+2: 121 BB
CO: 10 BB
BTN: 32.5 BB

Hero has K♣:J♥:

Pre Flop (€0.15)
2 fold, BTN raises to €0.20, SB folds, Hero calls €0.10

Flop (€0.44, 2 players) K♥:Q♣:5♣:
Hero checks, BTN bets €0.20, Hero calls €0.20

Turn (€0.84, 2 players) J♠:
Hero checks, BTN checks

While the action has been quick preflop and on the flop, Villain has now used his full time allocation before checking. Could be nothing, but I have a feeling he is in a tough spot, either medium-strength hand or a very strong one that he just made on the turn. AT crosses my mind.

River (€0.84, 2 players) K♦:
Hero bets €0.70, BTN raises to €2.85 and is all-in, Hero calls €2.15

Showdown (€6.48, 2 players)
BTN shows A♣:T♠:, Straight, Ace high
Hero shows K♣:J♥:, Full House, Kings full

Hero wins €6.48
