fairly standard session, ran some bigger bluffs against capped ranges which got mostly called by very subpar hands, not sure if opponents too good or too bad :f_confused: had a big suckout in my favor and lots of smaller ones against

to be fair, i'm not sure how he should be playing this. hoping for AK that called flop is very optimistic (specially with his sizing), and he has the A:d, so unknown reg's continuing range is extremely narrow. as far as i'm concerned, my range for continuing ott is exactly KK only, since i give a lot of credit to 4bets utg vs mp in this limit.

Man, you are a talent

Have you read the Mental Game of Poker? Or any other book that can increase your motivation? Or a motivational coach maybe? You are so close of becoming a successful poker player :f_thumbsup:

Will follow this blog for sure :f_drink:

Cheers,

hey, thanks sir you are spot on actually, productivity has always been my biggest leak by far in every aspect of life.

i've read the Mental Game of Poker books. i feel that it comes down to having no real motivation to get tons of money, since i am a rather simple frugal person and feel like i don't need any more money/income than i already have. i live modestly and i am happy with it, getting thousands just for the sake of having thousands somehow doesn't appeal to me.

if someday i go broke somehow, THAT would be a real motivator :f_biggrin:

what about having motivation to invest money into buildings and then rent them and so then you dont have to work, or have to work little when you feel like?

Did not read whole blog, but in first post I saw you are student. Maybe not anymore ? Are you having job so that you have enough money?

hey, just saw your post. i've always noticed that the poker community is full of very ambitious people however, only the real hard workers actually "make it", and i almost never see anyone actually working hard (and, perhaps more importantly, keeping it up over the time required to make it) :f_biggrin:

i'm not one of these people. my previous post said it all, spend a ton of energy getting rich and then more energy investing? i honestly don't give a fuck while i can afford a simple place, food, internet and have some money left for random expenses.
i have worked hard on my skill and improved enough to beat micros very convincingly, but that was mainly due to love of the game, not out of any major moneymaking ambitions. when i don't feel the "love of the game" (like these last months), i just don't study and play much less. i don't want to make poker my main source of income, because i know myself well enough to understand that i just won't always feel motivated.

of course, poker is very fair over the long run, and those who work hard and keep at it end up actually "making it". i have a great amount of respect for those who actually have made it (like HansTheGreat, we started playing at about the same time!), it really takes an amazing amount of work ethic which, in all honesty, i can't keep up consistently.

weird sizings by him, doesn't make that much sense with AK (though it's possible), thought it looked like AJ (though he shouldn't be playing it) but then he probably also has AQ AT (which he also shouldn't). def didn't expect offsuit AJ at these positions, all in all this hand is ok

i've been so out of touch with pokers that i don't even know how much money i have across all sites anymore. at least i didn't lose any significant amount to bullshit "inactivity clauses", apparently...

of course, i'm a recreational player at heart, and my first and true love is stars zoom. i should just withdraw everything from everywhere else and fuck bonuses that i don't give a fuck about (as of now) :f_rolleyes:
so, in that topic, i just rebuilt my stars roll to $1000, which means i am (probably) ready for nl10 now :f_biggrin:

i started lurking in here due to a few friend recommendations, with zero money and zero knowledge. i eventually got the pokerstrategy starting capital, found my true love in the fast fold cash games (beat up to FR50) and grinded it up to some cool thousands in lifetime winnings with a lot of breaks and without ever depositing.

i would describe myself as a young talented lazy university student with the short attention span that is so common in this new generation and, as such, i love zoom.
from the very beginning, when the lowest available fast fold limit was FR5 on full tilt and i wasn't good enough to beat even that, i would already spend a few BI in shots there... then black friday came, and i was sad and grinded on everest poker (which was not under ipoker at the time), but as soon as zoom came to stars i moved my roll there and never really looked back at normal tables since.

my thoughts on the matter are: normal tables might net a higher winrate, but zoom is way more convenient and, most importantly, FUN! and, uh, a few more things which i don't want to elaborate on.

imo my biggest leak doesn't actually show up in my winrate, but it makes me lose A LOT of money anyway (in opportunity cost). that is, despite clearly being a winning player in my games, i switch interests very often and lose motivation very easily, and as such it's not rare for me after a few bad days to just randomly go a few months without playing at all.
even if i'm tired and/or busy with uni, my C-game should at least be breakeven (winning with rakeback)... it's almost as if i don't like money, what the fuck?

so anyway...
sometime in the past year, i worked up a profit sharing deal with BrokeSoBroke behind the shadows :f_biggrin: worth it, i refined my zoom ideas and increased my vpip/pfr in a few points, all that while still managing to fold less! i also definitely have to thank him for being very understanding with me with regards to my university and mindset situations.
so well... for this year, i'll try to go for supernova and climb a bunch of limits along the way! it's definitely not "hard", but it will require not randomly quitting the game. :f_mad:

i'm currently playing sh25 zoom with a super massively huge bankroll of a bit over 80BI for the limit, going to move up when i feel like it. :f_eek: i'll be posting weekly updates, because daily updates suck for a variety of reasons.

oh, sometimes i also evaluate hands as a voluntary hand judge in the nanostakes forums!
i've played a fair amount of hands at these limits in the last year with what i'd call pretty good winrates (nl5) (nl10) and, while i don't evaluate much, when i do i try to give it my best effort and i hope that it shows. cya!
