Recovering well

Wow, I´m recovering really well, when the "gas into the fire" (Paxil which is an antidepressant and can trigger mania) is eliminated. Doing well, exercised yesterday, concentration improves, so I think I can do a little "trial run" at the tables tomorrow. _biggrin:_thumbsup:

@Prim I'm glad to hear you are getting better. In a eye's blink you'll get back to fish the fishes at poker tables. :f_drink:
Best Recovery Wishes !!! :f_thumbsup: :f_thumbsup: :f_thumbsup:

Poker just sucks (sometimes)

I´m back at the tables, barely recovered and have to see how my KK and AA get cracked, how I loose against 3-outers and get tons of total junk hands. Oh dear, this goes on and on and on and in such moments I think about how nice would it be to quit poker. I would have more time for other stuff, I wouldn´t have to worry about equities, about donks, about bankroll....... how nice would it be just beeing a recreational player.....

This is so far the longest and worst bad run I ever have had....

Now comes this shitty mental game, bla bla bla.... and I know running away has never been a solution, but keep going isn´t either? Will this sh!t ever end? Or am I just the sucker with AA, KK and other hands as at least 60 % favourite?

Will I hit a board ever again? Ten thousands of junk hands, ten thousands of totally missed boards, oh, and when I hit, I get rivered or encounter a cooler. K-flush run into A-flush, FH goes down the drain on the river, set goes often down the drain against some lucky lucky river, mostly some idiot gutter, but the most frustrating thing is loosing most of the hands I jam with pf with 60-80 % equity to some random lucky lucky anything: you name it!

Every pecularly long downswing I contemplate quitting too. It's easy to wonder why you are keeping up with this crazy game, you feel like a masochist and all...
The sad but true reason why I've kept on until now is mainly because I don't really know what else I'd do with my time. I wish you find yourself a better one though ^^

Well, I love poker....I actually love poker .....

That´s why I do this to myself. Maybe I´m masochist? :f_ugly:

But I thought too, I must be a f*cking masochist to do this to myself

Taking a break and a health update

As the title says: I decided to take a little break from the tables. This downswing is now getting terribly on my nerves!!

Speaking of nerves: My central nervous system is beeing put on a test now: Paxil-withdrawal and the dosage chance of Lamictal. Side-effects as well as the withdrawal symptoms start to set in. It´s not bad but I´m very very very tired and drowsy at the moment _zZz:_zZz:_zZz: Nothing to worry about and very normal at the beginning of med/dosage change. So I will take it easy today, fortunately my work-load is normal, I won´t take any more orders until the end of the year, so I have now more time to rest.

Besides I try (the 99999th time) to eat healthy and not fussy!! _ugly: I´m not as disciplined as "Oldschoolpapa" _ugly:, well, in fact I was until the Paxil came and my appetite went down the drain, then I just ate whatever I liked (urm..mostly sweets  ). So now with the Paxil gone I will go back to healthy diet with a lot of vitamins, high carb (central nervous system needs them) and not too much meat.

And now I have time to figure out which healthy snacks I can eat while grinding MTTs for 6,7,8 or more hours. Will look for recipes for good, healthy finger-food. Yesterday the book I ordered arrived and I´m looking forward to read it after work! _thumbsup:

Where my luck has gone ...?

To my better half! Definitely! My husband hits the tables and I´m supporting him a bit, answering questions. HE is getting lucky at the tables, getting the nuts, flopping well, etc. So the luck that left me went 100 % over to him. :f_ugly:

Aaaww! And I´m super tired! _zZz:_zZz:_zZz:

@Primrose Sorry about Paxil effects. Discipline everyday takes lot of time and efforts especially at start, then it becomes a routine.(Poker & Non Poker)
Once meds side effects, corticoids and unhealthy food got me over 120 Kg i quickly understood i better do something. Not for the look coz i don't give a sh*t about what peoples might or might not think about me but for my own health and to feel a bit more confortable despite bad health shape ...
First i did hate green food , vegetables , salads ... Now i even start to love it ... If you change your food habits or try to, make a daily plan for the week and stick to it.
If you follow it to the letter then reward yourself with your favorite food or a restaurant you love with your husband. Something that makes you happy.
If you don't follow it to the letter then no reward ! Your brain will start to remember it and adjust to it , then it will become easier.
When you try to change or to apply anything new , the more drastic it is , the harder and longer it takes to adjust ...
For most human beings anyway ...
The best if you have troubles to deal with changes and discipline is to start to make the changes slowly but to follow your plans.
Also it's a good habit to write down (hand writting is better than to write on a computer) what you wanna change , why and how you plan to.
Then as soon as possible read what you wrote at start as a reminder to the brain. Also the more logic you put in , the easier it will go on the long run.

I always thought that was how a couple was supposed to work
Now I know what I have to do if I want to run better. I "just" need to find a cooperative girldriend. Well, it's not over yet then...

Papa, you know, exactly that´s the point: weight! I´m at a perfectly healthy BMI of 20. The problem is: I don´t have the urge to watch my diet  When I was in my 20ties, I was even thin and could eat what I wanted, I only had to watch my weight when I was into ballet and acrobatics, okay, then I had to go on a diet to stay really thin! But afterwards there was no need, no urge, no pressure, I went to normal weight and that was it. Guuuuys, I love sweeets and salami and cheese :rage:

Okay okay, I´m gonna eat more veggies, less meat, less salami and WAY less sweet stuff

Floxy, yeah, find yourself a girlfriend who is in a very nasty downswing _thumbsup:_biggrin:_ugly:

Well, if it keeps going like that, all you need to do is wait until your husband starts running bad again, take over and enjoy the upswing. Until you start running bad yourself again, at which point hubby takes over, and so on...

It's unbeatable.

Seriously though, I know those tough stretches when it seems like you can't win a hand no matter what you do. It can often help to simply remind yourself of the times when things where going better, and I definitely remember a time not too long ago when you were crushing everything in your path - click the sharkies for some examples from back then:

_biggrin: _love: _cool: _drink:

You clearly got what it takes. Just take a break until you got your mojo back.

A Question from a beginner: being a masochist, is this not a requirement to become a good poker player?

Wow! Thank you very much, the idea with the sharkies is so cute!

My loosing streak takes SO long that I totally forgot and cannot imagine to win again..... shame on me. That´s one of the main reasons why I´m taking a break besides the withdrawal-symptoms and side-effects.

By the way: Brain-zaps started to set in. Those are little electrical "shocks" which go from your brain to your body, it´s a feeling like a little lightening would strike you (but only a tiny little one)

The poor girl should be going through a very nasty downswing to end up going out with me indeed :]

And geez, ballet, acrobatics,... is there something you didn't do ?
Besides house chores of course. Ain't nobody got time for that.

You weren't rich enough ? That'll come ! ;)
You just have to wait for your husband to lose. Easy.
