Today, 20:36 I have no idea where to even begin. Things that should be happening a fraction of the time happen in almost every big pot or clutch situation. Ive been playin for over a year now and especially these last 6 months or so, the beats have been HORRIBLE!!!! Im not even exagerrating when I say I lose nearly 80 percent of ALL my AA or KK. Every single AA i have gets crushed by constant four card straight and flush draws. If its not those its sets and two pairs. Legit the only 20 percent of hands i win with superior hands like this are little to no pots. Any ax i have against another ax w a lower kicker, there kicker always hits. Ill lose set to set, two pair to two pair. Earlier i got called in a 50k tourny. I had 86 against a5. flop was 4,8,10. check check. turn is a jack, i shove he calls and then the river is an A. which is so routine on this site. Nearly any card they need comes on the river. LITERALLY almost any time i have top pair after flop and shove and someone calls w a flush draw, the flush literally comes the next card 8/10 times. I may not be the best player, or make the smartest moves, but regardless i should not be running into this amoubnt of bad beats ALL of the time. I dont sit here and multi tables tons of tables. I play maybe 2 SOMETIMES 3 at a time the most, so its not like im playing 1000s of hands. SO it blows my mind to see the amount of times things like this happen. I have the best hand preshove nearly 70 percent of the time, always called by a worse hand or someone chasing something, yet by the time the river hits i always lose. THis is the case in almost ALL tourneys of significance. Normally id crush it the entire tourney until righ tbefore the bubble, then the bullshit starts. Now I can barley do that. WHich i find funny bc any time i play the freerolls or with play money, these things seems to rarely happen, if ever, again, only when it is significant like the later step freerolls when the wins actually reward you. Im down about 6k overall. Its just funny bc theres a satalleite into a contest where they give only 3 seats. So you have to place top 3 out of 500 plus players on avg. Ive done this numerous times, yet i cant place in ANY paid tourneys where the entrance fee is over 2$.

I dont want to sound like im whining, but this is literally all day, every single tourney, every single game. It is so discouraging. this doesnt sound like variance to me. ANd again i dont have to be the best player, i dont even have to b a winning player, but these things are just occuring WAYYYYYYY too OFTEN in so many convenient spots. A great example is ANYYYYY time im against an overpair I ALWAYSSSSSSS connect top pair on the board. Ill lose set to set, two pair to two pair, flush to flush, a high flush to straight flush, full house to quads, at such an alarmingly high rate. I feel i don play NEARLY enough hands to experience this like its routine.

does anyone else play on blackchip?
are you a winning player?
I really feel the site may be rigged.

Just quit for a while.
What you think are just bad beats are in fact, most of the times, bad decisions due to tilt.
Look at your stats, review your game and you'll see that you have been playing badly.
Bad beats happen to everyone. Focus on making good decisions and money will come, don't worry.

Sometimes variance is hard and it feels like we get sucked out every single time. That is normal. What makes a difference between a winning and a losing player is winning players' ability to handle the swings without tilting and doing stupid stuff at the tables.

You said that you lose majority of your AA and KK hands. If you have a decent sample size, that is very unlikely. Sometimes our brain can do tricks and it remembers all bad beats a lot better and it makes us feel like that. We can easily check that if you are using a tracking software like HM2 or PT4. You can easily filter for KK and AA hands only and then check if you are really losing money with those hands. It would be interesting to see a screenshot from your tracking software :)

im not even considering bad plays by me. I will have the best hand almost every time on flop or pre flop, and by the river it is a suckout. Just played first tourney of the day. Sat in top 10 for the last two hrs of the tourny, then last level i lose TT to KQ. Flop JXA. Turn is a T. its just nonstop. This is SO ROUTINE. I will crush so many tourneys for hrs, and then get sucked out right before the bubble pops. This is literally every single game iive been playin. There are probabilities in which these things should be occuring, i just dont c how im experiencing them all day, every day, when as i said, its not like im playing 1000s of hands a day. So given that, and taking consideration of the hands i fold pre flop, i dont understand how i run into these on an hourly basis

lmao perfect example, literally right after i just sent u that message, I just got knocked out again, after rebuying before reg ended, worked myself back intop the money at 23rd place, and just got knocked out AA to 74. turned a straight. First two tourneys of the day, and im 2 for 2 w the nonsense. I just cant understand it. This is literally every game smh. so annoying

I'm a cash gamer, so in terms of tournaments I'm not the best one to help you.
But it's normal in tournaments to be eliminated by variance a lot of the times I think. Did you review your sessions?

Im not sure how to screenshot and upload. But I can ASSUREEEEEE you, I win less than 20 percent of any AA, KK that is played, RARELYYYYYY everrrrrr amounting to any significant amount of chips. and i seriously think 20 percent is a GENEROUS number. Like i responded to the other guy, today again, I get AA in the last level, and lose to 74. Its ridiculous. THe second i saw his hand i already knew exactly what was gonna come on the board. its been a pretty downward swing for a while now. Again, just like i told the other guy, im talking strictly about hands that i have that are best pre shove, and then opp just sucks out by the river. It always takes place in the most convenient of spots, its just all around fishy

If you manage to get a sample of 100 AA preflop shoves and you are really lost even more than 60 of those I will be surprised.
Sometimes shit happens. If villain had 74s he will win your AA 20% of the time so it is not that rare. Roll a dice, see how often you will get for example a number 6. It is not so rare for that to happen.

And about the TT preflop shove against KQ, it is almost a coinflip. If you calculate the probability, you should lose that almost 50% of the time, so nothing weird in that either.
Btw, what stage of the tournament was it? What were the stack sizes and the positions. What was the action before you or did you open shove it? There are a lot of factors you must consider, so are you sure it was even a good play with the TT?

I don't know about your poker skills but I guess you are still a beginner. You give us very little information in your examples so it is basically impossible for us to know if it really was a bad beat or not.
For example in your first post you said " I had 86 against a5. flop was 4,8,10. check check. turn is a jack, i shove he calls and then the river is an A."
1) why did you decide to shove that hand 2) what were the effective stack sizes 3) did villain have a flush draw?

It is possible that you are running bad. But it is also possible that you are making mistakes. For example some shoves you do preflop, maybe you shouldn't have. When you play postflop, maybe you should have given up on earlier streets or maybe you missed a bet and let villain realize his equity cheaply.

I would like to help you with this but it is impossible with this amount of information.

Probably just another mental fish convinced he's the only one to lose with big hands whereas it's part of the game...

I´m an MTT player and I can say: MTTs are indeed super-swingy! So the answer is YES! You can be indeed that unlucky.

yes but this isnt even about mistakes. I make a mistake or not, I dont feel people should be hitting two outters on every turn or river in every all in im involved in during any significant spot. This isnt about being a fish and thinkin im the only one suffering from beats like this. Its the FREQUENCY IN WHICH THEY OCCUR. I experience them in literally every single tourney i play in. AGAIN, im speaking STRICTLY about hands im ahead in preshove and then end up losing to four card draws and other less likely hands that hit. Ill give the latest example, and again, the first tourney of the day. A4 suited on the button against K6. He raised preflop and i called in bb. flop comes 3t7. check check. turn was a 9. he shoves i call. cards r shown and again, I already knew and 8 was coming on the river. and of course i was right. I can literally call out the cards that are going to come on turn and river once i see cards after shove. I should not be able to do this, I am not a psychic.

and as i wrote this article, I just got knocked out in ANOTHER all in JJ v 99. I shoved UTG called by SB. He hit a 9 on the turn. This is EXACTLYYYYY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. smh insane!!!!! lmao like gtfoh theres just no way i should be losing in every situation that counts.

You know what? Meeeee toooo! At least at the moment. You can´t do anything about it: It´s called a downswing. I know it´s very very hard to deal with bad downswings but stop complaining, just move down a limit or two, play cheap (!) tourneys and grind it out. Or quit poker! It´s up to you.

Yes, you are probably right. You are more unlucky in long term than any other player. Also, losing so often with AA? Oh, shit! Are you serious? Maybe this strategy video might help:

You are welcome! :yaoming:

You need to learn how to loose to. It needs skill, how to handle bad beats and bad run. Here is good example.

I think you are overreacting so much. If you have 5000 tournaments and you keep losing probably it's just not bad luck. You have leaks. Could be a monster downswing, but I wouldn't bet on that.
Ans: I don't play at black chip.

Listen: That´s exactly what happens to me at the moment and I´m not a loosing player (at least not at low limits :f_biggrin: ). Luck is part of the game, as long as you don´t have a HUGE sample size. It´s the law of large numbers in math. So either you play through the downer or you quit poker. Everybody here had experienced a downswing and had to find a good strategy to get through it somehow.

I use to go down in limit and play it through very cheaply, as cheaply as I can in order to minimize my losses.

So, maybe you wanna play very cheap tourneys and do some work on your (mental) game?
