Awful board indeed but he has nothing left so it might be a call depending on what 4bet calling range you assign him. Could be quite wide BU vs CO you know. You need to be good 30% of the time to call and with the (maybe quite optimistic) range I put on Equilab AA has about 50% even on that ugly flop !

I think quite the opposite, imo it is a horrible fold. With a spr of 1:1 and your opponent most likely being a fish this is never ever a fold. So many hands you beat like T9,J9,AQ,KQ,KJ,QJ. Just because you wouldnt play those hands this way (3bet and call 4bet) doesnt mean others would do the same. And beacuse there some turns you dont want to see particularly 9,8 but also K,A I would just push

definetely bet call, al lot of hands will pay you off expecially when shortstacked. I assumed that was the reason why your 4bet was so small pre yo get called on flop with wide range of hands

I think the 4bet size is ok for most spots. I 4bet to roughly 2.5, which is quite on the large side already.

Standard size indeed. Could also probably go bigger at NL5 but whatever.

I guess versus the fish call would be profitable in the long run but it is for sure a high variance play.

the main consideration here regarding 4bet sizing is SPR. this sizing sets up the effective stacks to about pot, which is alright.
of course against a standard reg we're doing very badly, but folding against this particular opponent with a SPR of 1 seems extremely pessimistic. jam or check/jam it.

Well, BU vs CO I have thight regs calling me with low PP so no it's not a fish thing. Asimos recently made a video about loosely calling 4bets even OOP...

And it's not "high variance play" it's just f*cking 4bet pot. How can you even talk about variance with such pot odds ? Calling a PSB is high variance now ? Come on.

I also think this (without any specific read on villain) an awful fold. Villain is a small stack - so most likely not a reg. Therefore, he will have a wider 4bet calling range.

Of course it's an awful board, that doesn't have anything to do with reads on villain. Whatever his range it's a bad board.
And he isn't short, just shallow. There are lots of shallow regs you know.
