Is it useful to filter HUD for stacksizes? What are reasonable settings?

Hey guys,
for months or maybe even years I wonder if or how I shall filter my HUD for stackdepths. I´ve already talked to a couple of other players regarding this topic and some think it´s a good thing while others think it´s not. Mostly the argument for not doing it, is that you won´t have enough samples on a certain stat. well, I guess this is true even though you might have a huge DB.
Actually I´m convinced it´s quite useful to set filters and most of the time I apply them. But here I struggle to set good, reasonable filters. I use PT4 and the predetemined ranges are pretty wide. E.g. for actual stacksizes between 21 - 35 BB you have the option to filter for stacksizes between 15 - 40 BB, 21 - 35 or 20 - 40 BB. So what would be a reasonable good setting. Or should I only set filter for the shorter stacks like 1 - 20 BB?

thanks and cheers :f_cool:

I'm not a tournament player and I'm not familiar with PT4 but I'll give you my opinion.

Yes, it is wise to filter based on stack sizes. If your villains play differently with different stack sizes, why wouldn't you want to filter for those specific situations?
Yes I get the counter-argument that then you would have a very small sample size, but I think it is not a valid argument. If you don't filter you will have a larger sample size but it also means you have inaccurate and not valid stats. How useful is villain's overall flop cbet % that you have got on early stages of the tourney when you are deep, when you actually are playing late stage of the tournament with short stacks?

That is almost the same if I would use hands from cash games when I'm playing spin&go. I doubt villain would play both games the same way.

Exactly every game should have his own folder on postelsql, one for cash and tournament
With fpdb you can split both kind of game,...

Can you give me some good advice, what would be smart settings?
For instance..
for acutal stacksizes of 1 - 4 BB you have the option to filter for 1 -10BB, 1 - 4 BB and 1 -15 BB
5 -10 BB: 3 - 15 BB, 5 - 10 BB and 5 - 20 BB
11 - 20 BB: 7 - 25BB, 11 - 20 BB and 5 - 20 BB
21 - 35 BB: 15 - 40BB, 21 - 35 BB and 20 - 40 BB
26 - 55 BB: 25 - 60 BB, 36 - 55 BB and 30 - 60BB
56 BB+: 30 BB+ and 56 BB+

Let´s assume I want to set a filter for stacks of 5 - 10 BB: which option shall I choose? In my opinion there´s a big difference in playing a 5 BB stack or a 15BB stack. for instance when you look at the stat how often villain calls a 2bet when he´s in BB.
Or for actual stack sizes of 21 - 35BB: a 15BB stack plays quite differently than a 40 BB stack. the same is true for 21 or 35 BB stack.

Seriously, you SHOULD use RFI stat, raise first in, it tell you how agressive the player is.

This stat says how often the player raise when there is no raise before him.
