I'll try to keep up both blogs and will try to still keep it entertaining for all the busy double-readers!

Deposited 600 € on RIO today . I liked the software, traffic was really bad though. Still managed to play 3 tables of NL-100 for about an hour (would not have played a higher limit anyway to avoid crashing my whole deposit within the first session). Not many recs there (if any), but the regs seemed really nitty and did not seem to adapt sufficiently to the splash pots. Got in a lot of steals pre and abused my maniacal image later. In the end, I was up only half a stack due to a suckout when I got it in on 4-2-2r with TT against ATo. Still satisfied with the first session on RIO, traffic has to catch up though to makeit a real competitor to my main sites.

Not really happy with February-results. Took a week off to go on a skiing trip with my family (thus the small volume) and after my return I didnt manage it to really keep up my absolute a-game. Played too many tables and played sessions, when I wasnt focused or the tables were lousy. And although I ran slightly above ev, that was one of the months, were I'm totally sure, that I ran quite bad. Sounds stupid, but I had months, when it was exactly the opposite. When we hit our gut-shots, flop sets and get it in pre with AA against AK. February wasnt like that exactly

Goals for March:
-continue to work at least one hour a day with PIO-solver (on average)
-not more than 6 tables at once, no matter how profitable they are
-finish my next video for pokerstrategy
-play only, when I meet the right conditions: be fit and focussed; no session when I'm tired!!

Nice to hear from you DrObst and your experiences on the ROI site, it's pretty cool what mr Galfond is putting together, wonder what the the overall future goal with that is? Does he have a vision with it that you know of?

Hey, as far as I know, his goal with RIO is to create a player friendly poker site (and I'm sure he doesn't mind to make a few bucks out of it additionaly :tongue:). Main problem will probably be to create traffic in an already saturated market. Run it once has been known as a training site, and every poker player knows Phil, so potential regs at least know, that RIO exists and the rakeback system seems better than on most of the other sites. But to grow as a poker site, you need to attract recreational players. The possibility, to earn additional rakeback via Twitch-streaming could maybe spread the popularity of RIO, but I'm not too familiar with Twitch and stuff, so I have a hard time estimating how many people (especially recs) could be informed on this channel.

Lets hope for the best, a serious competitor could force Pokerstars to think about the way they treat their pokerplayers

Ah, cool to hear your thoughts on RIO. yeah, hopefully it will take of and create a friendlier atmosphere for regs. Yeah, also don't know about twitch. seems like it could potentially bring a lot of younger players.. but they'll only stay if they win money ;P

Some hands I played the last couple of days:

1)
Villain is a strong reg, 3-bet-happy and overall very aggressive. The hand does not seem too interesting, but I realized immediately after his raise, that his play should be highly profitable against me, because I tend to c-bet close to 100% in 4-bet pots on this kind of texture and I'd have to fold a bunch, even to his tiny raise. Definitely an eye opener for me, I was lucky this time to have a strong enough hand.

Villain seems reggish, but no reads on him. My hand could take different paths on the flop, x/c, x/r or c-bet are all valid options. I go for the x/c this time. Obv good turn for me, no reason to do anything else than x/c and x/r him off his bluffs. Now the river is, where this hand gets interesting. The 6 isn't a great card for villain, I doubt he would have fired two times with middlepair. However he should be worried, that I could have it myself, my line would make perfect sense with A6/K6/86/76/65/64. So I see at least a part of his Tx-hands check back river or go smaller for value. On the other hand, there are plenty of possible bluffs, clubs, flopped gutshots; So I decided to bluffcatch.

The opener is the table spot, 39/27/15, likes to splash around pre and post. Thats why I did not squeeze, I think I would have to deal to often with a 4-bet and my postflop-edge stays much stronger with the higher SPR in a single-raised pot. reg in the big blind (29/20/12, 14% squeeze) decides to squeeze. Now the fish only calls. Never saw him slowplay a somewhat strong holding pre, so I excluded this option. Reg behind flatcalls, with does not scream for strength either. Additionaly I thought, that the squeeze would have been maybe somewhat bigger with hands like AK or AQ, because the fish does not fold to 3-bets. So I decided that I have enough fold-equity (combined with my equity if called) to go for the shove and try to collect more than 30bb of dead money.

Villain is a solid reg, frequent 3-better and I dont like calling Axs with bad kicker OOP too much, so I decided to 4-bet. Flop is a small c-bet with 100% of my range. OTT I like to switch to bluffcatch-mode, I'm sure he will float the flop wide against my tiny bet, hoping to take the pot away later against all my non-A-hands. Consequently I'm calling his rivershove, expecting to see KQ/KJ/QJ a fair amount.

Hand 2: I can see villain bet turn easily with alot of 6x vs all your x/c'd Highcards and with all the draws out there. That being said u can go either way imo OTR, xc or xf are probably similar in ev here.
Hand 3: You're not repping alot either after overcalling pre vs fish+reg, The reg behind could be squeezing this small because he wants the fish to call, making his range alot stronger. But 14% and the other 2 guys don't rep any strength it should be ok. Also possible to just call and play IP, your A is probably good alot of the time vs the 2 callers, the squeezer has to play rather face-up here so u can find exploitative folds vs him on A high textures i assume.

thanks for your comment! Agree that I dont rep a lot on hand 3 but that said I think that both jamming and calling should be +ev here.

hand 2: caught him bluffing his 87o
hand 3: I took the pot down preflop
hand 4: I got owned by AQ

Poker-March begins mediocre, got quite some hands in and I am happy with my game for the most part. Had one really bad session (happens) where I spewed off 1 stack at the end (should definitely NOT happen). Most sessions were really good though, managed to play absolutely focussed nearly always and it happened rarely, that I played more than 6 tables at once. Got to catch up to my ev-line, since I'm not really good at all-ins ATM, but I'm working on it
