Something that I do not understand in this hand is why he folded? I was just having a guess that he holds nothing..

The villain probably thought the board was too scary and he had air and didnt want to show a silly hand? Lol

most likely he had a hand that missed the board made a c-bet as the preflop aggressor and gave up when his c-bet failed to pick up the pot.

Villain may have had face cards that didn't hit, or any other pocket pair lower than 6, or even deuces.

Preflop I’d rather 3bet or fold suited connector from SB.
Flop is as dry as it gets, and villain has range advantage so he should c-bet 100% of his range.
If he didn’t connect in any way on turn as well, there’s nothing for him but to X/F.

If you thought that villain's fold is strange so you expected him to call or raise you on the river. Did you bet to get call from worse hand than your? Or did you prefer to get raise, fold and just leave 8 cents as a tip for nice companion?
