very interesting block this gives me hope as a newlyish snger having hard time grinding low limits to get into profit

Thx DaPhunk, TheBrood, Terrorblade and tigerace999 I'm sure you will be successful tiger you just need determination to get you there coz it can be tough at times grindin the micro's. Its worth it in the end tho when you can look back on what you've achieved, for all the hard work you put in.

Last week I played for the first time in a bit, n I was grinding the 9 mans but felt like I lost interest n was tempted to withdraw my bankroll.. but when it comes down to it poker is the love of my life so I would miss it too much haha. So instead of quitting I've decided I'm gonna play MTT SnG's instead coz they're way more fun. It does involve higher variance but a much bigger reward if you get a win. I'll be playing a mixture of $5 18, 27 and 45 mans mainly, and some 180 man SnG's, n look out for any juicy looking tournaments.

This week I'm gonna say screw the world outside n get to some serious grinding! I played quite a few games last night n today, I'd never really played the 27 mans much before, n when I was getting itm I kept on being the first to bust n finishing 5th which was well annoyin, but just finished one now n managed to come 2nd ♦

My BR is upto $587 now, I got over my nasty downswing/monkey tilt n hopefully things will continue lookin up. I've also been playin successively n I forget about it when I lose pretty quickly, so I can focus on the games I'm playin.

I guess I'll be seeing you on the tables then, I'm gonna get my money back from NL2, haha

Meh... dunno if I can handle the variance of mtt SnG's. I keep going looong stretches with no cashes, I'm not used to losing so much, mtt's are so swingy.

I'll stick at the mtt SnG's for a while longer, n if I don't see any improvement may have to try somethin else.

Withdrew $50 n down ~$70 since my high point a couple of days ago, remaining BR $478.

Ok whine over made up for my losses n won a little more. Won a 27 man, came 2nd in one and 3rd in a 45 man. Current BR $569.. n updated graph..

What buy-in are you playing $5.50 or something?

Yeah I'm playing $5.50's, I quite like the 27 mans. I'm mainly playin 18, 27 and 45 mans, also $4.40 180 mans and just joining whatevers mostly full if I bust in one of them. I'm not sure if I would be better off playing $10+1 9 mans, but mtt SnG's are more fun anyways.

@Wendy. Me n my boyf have sorted our issues for now He's been staying at my place in the weeks mostly, which is why I probably don't grind as much as I otherwise would.

i see that you played the $3 + 0,4 18Man. How good were you when you played these levels?

Im currently grinding those 18Man, having a huge profit. I still dont know if im lucky to have a major upswing or these level is just easy to beat.

Do you experienced any difficult moving up to $5 + 0,50? What's your BRM?

I don't believe that I'm a great player but the 18 mans are pretty easy to make profit on, I used to play $10 ones a while ago on fulltilt and made most my profit through them.

The skill level is pretty much the same between the 3.40's and the 5.50's. I haven't played that many of them as I'm mixing between the different mtt SnG's on stars but heres my results for the 18 mans I have played on stars...

I'm currently using a 100 buyin rule, but I think if you are just playing 18 mans 50-70 buyins should be sufficient.

Have you ever managed to achieve top 50 on the sit n go leaderboard? Its seems so hard, even when i have a major upwing i still don have enough points to win some bucks. ♠_cry:

Hey, I'm just playing 4 tables.. I tried 8 tabling 9 mans with some success but find it a bit too hectic. Maybe if I invest in a new monitor I could play more tables but 4 is all that fits on my screen at the moment. And I haven't been in the top 50, or even the top 100 I think, whenever I do well for a bit I always seem to have a downswing after so I never made it yet lol.

Last week I cashed out $240 to help my boyfriend pay his rent, which I will get back in a couple of weeks, my remaining balance is now $397.

When I was playing last week I decided to see the withdrawn $240 still as part of my bankroll, but I'm really bad with money so when I see it in my hands I might end up spending it, so maybe I can get back to over $500 by then and I won't deposit... If I'm still hovvering around what I'm at now I will redeposit it.

I've withdrawn over $400 over the last few months, which has been helpful but its pulling back my progress and stopping me from moving on to higher limits, so my goal is NoT to withdraw untill (if) I reach over $1k.

I've decided that I'm going back to the 9 mans, reason being I don't like losing! And playing the sng MTT's I don't seem to win that much, even if I'm slowly making some small profit. I had been playing way too tight aswell, I think thats because sometimes I don't feel like I'm in control of certain aspects of my life and at the poker table I like to be in control...

You look like you're doing well, nice job. I was playing alot of MTTs before exams, and while yeah, it does suck that you play so many without cashing, I love how with a bigger tourney you have that chance to cash big! That pretty much tilts it for me. Grinding 9 mans is such a...grind

edit: I just read your last post and maybe 9 mans are better if you play too tight. I love the opportunity to let loose and be aggro late in tourneys, because it's where all the money is made. If you're too tight, you're just not gonna get that no.1 spot

I'd recommend strongly against cashing out in general at this stage in your career (except for emergencies obv). You've proven to be a winning player and the amount of hours that go into winning the $$ you earn now is far lower than if you waited for a 1k$+ BR.

Im facing that problem right now. How tight should i be? Should i bet more preflop? How can i play on the bubble?

I think those questions will be answered all by yourself, when you already played a lot and have a lot of experience to deal with this situations.

Hey sgaf, I was managing to make some profit playing MTT SnG's but it seemed like a hard grind with not much big success like I was hoping for.

Thx TerrorBlade hopefully I can keep up the good work, I won't cash out now unless it is really necessary.

Well Alverine, I showed stievro (cannell555) my stats and he said I had been playing a little too loose at the early stages (around 12/3) and he said 9/5 reasonable for the first few blind levels, and around 25/50 blinds I was still playing too loose but more aggressive (around 12/9) and I should be playing really tight around those levels. When the blinds get bigger you should be playing more LAG, especially short handed on the bubble stages around 21/19 is good for vip/pfr (I was playing around 16/15 which is wayyy too tight) Hope you find this helpful!

Earlier I joined a 90 man SnG but got bored :\ I left it then came back an hour later and had around 1.7k chips, I managed to get a bit lucky and became chipleader with around 40k, maintained my chiplead up till the bubble, then 2nd chipleader decided to limp/call my shove with A6s vs my ATo and a magical 6 appeared on the river.... my bad luck continued and I busted 7th to make $9, but I suppose its better than the -$3.30 I would have got had I not decided to continue playing.

I think I might dump my boyfriend too (only kidding ) I've only had time to play 2 days this month, but I'll kick him out tomorrow so I can grind some.

Hey pokerQT, i think my stats are ok, check it out:

I dont know why some blind levels are negative, maybe its variance.

I never studied my stats. Im playing the turbo's one, so whenever i reach 50/100 im already at push-fold. On the earlier levels, i just play according to SHC with some adaptations ( i use the advanced strategy on the silver section) and i almost alway reraise with AK.

Speaking of variance, this mtt sng deffinitly have more variance than stt sng. I had a monster upswing (+60bi), monter downswing (+45bi) and now a good upswing (about 40bi) only playing the 18man. But that doesnt mean that they arent profitable. IMO those sng's have a higher variance but you have a higher ROI.

omg im sooooo happy. I was getting a bit down about poker coz I had no time to play and well... this his how my month went before last night...

that on top of having withdrawn 75% of my BR made me wanna give up on poker...

Last night I had the first proper chance to play with no distractions, so I decided to join a $1 donkament, a $3 PLO mtt and a $3 9 man, I won the 9 man and managed to win 3rd place in the PLO tourny for $96 and 2nd place out of 4900~ players in the $1 tournament for $441, so I'm pretty damn happy I decided to play. Thanks to skelton aka dadude77 to railing me in the $1 tournament.

Before I started playing I had ~$200 BR on stars which now stands at $653, and $48 on fulltilt which is now $141 (which is pretty damn good considerin I withdrew it all off fulltilt and started up from $3 rake back) so $248 --> $794 in one day USING BRM ♦ ♦
