LeMahdi posted a hand, https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3075176#post3075176, when he faced an All In River shove when he had AK, TPTK, with no flush scare, straight scare, or full house scare. Some players said that Villain must have two pair or better. Thus, Hero must fold. Others stated that TPTK was strong enough to call the shove. Below is an example where I faced a River shove. Of course, with my full house I was pleased that Villain shoved because I practically had the Nuts. The hands are very different. However, I disagree with those who are willing to fold shoves when they also have All In quality hands. I make most my Big Blinds with All In. Frequently, Villains shove with poor hands. My advice is that you should not assume that you are beat when facing a shove. If you have TPTK or better without a flush/straight scare, it is best to call Villains’ shove. I do not plan on posting any more 25 BB hands. I just won my goal of 1,500 BB with this hand and now will move up to 25/50. Please, wish me luck at the next level. :f_grin:

im puzzled by the preflop raise size and the turn betsize too. can share thoughts on preflop? this is how 10bb/100 is done?
was the plan to overbet all-in on the river? i c villain has 16% chances on the turn somaybe the small turn bet is best choice.
how long did winning 1500bbs take? week?

The primary purpose of this post was to advise players to not fold their All In qualities hands to shoves by Villains. But, I will explain my betting actions. I limp/call most hands. But, QQ is tricky. I raise to 8 BB with the intent of shoving the Flop if there are no Kings or Aces. Instead, I got lucky and hit a Monster. The sizing of my Flop, Turn, and River was to not scare Villain away from my Monster hand. Yes, I slow play and trap often. I only play 1 to 3 hours per day. It took me 3 months to win 1,500 Big Blinds. Regardless of whether players agree or disagree with my post flop play, please consider the primary advice of this post. Don’t fold your All In quality hands to a Villain shove due to fear.

dispite the fact I have never played NL25, I 'm sure people at 2NL play totally different. From what I've heard is the aggression at 25NL a lot higher. People at 2NL are often very passive and the majority just doesn't shove light that much. Plus there are so many fishes around @2NL, it's just not worth the risk to "gamble" your stack while you can print money in so many other spots.

btw, this hand is wierd. You're playing a total fish so it seems. An 8 BB open wtf...
but 1500BB profit at 25NL??? big fat kudo's. I bow to you sir.

The 8 BB open raise is an experiment with QQ. I am still not certain as to how I want to play this tricky hand. I do not state that 8 BB is best.

I am very result orientated. I win 74% of my All In plays. Of the last 1,500 BB won – I won 5,200 in All In plays, lost 2,800 when I folded before the Flop, and lost 900 when I played post flop without All In. I would not give this advice if my All In strategy was not working. At LeMahdi post, https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3075176#post3075176, about ½ of the players thought it was fine to call an All In with TPTK. So, many players do not believe that “it is the worse advice”.

Normal I would go for a standard 3x raise. 8x on a unknown table seems to much. The rest seems alright. Maybe a higher bet on the flop like half pot for value, but that's it.

Cheers,

vengeance77 - This post relates to LeMahdi hand, https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3075176#post3075176.. He faced an All In with TPTK. There was reasonable disagreement as to whether he should fold. This hand argues that he should not fold because Villains sometimes shove poor hands. Of course, nobody would fold the nuts. Since, my style is unorthodox. I offer the below proof that it is effective.

Well if player pool on average is horrible enough to call 8bb open raise from early position with A8s versus passive opponent it can't be that bad exploit to open huge with monster hands.

True! I have admitted in many previous posts that I am a NIT. I rarely open raise (this hand is an experimental, exception). I prefer to limp/call. My VPIP is quite low. My 37% WWSF is much lower than the normal 42% to 52% WWSF. “Say it loud. I’m a NIT and I’m proud.” – James Brown, 1969. Do some poker players use the term NIT in a derogatory fashion because they are jealous of the successful NIT? LAGs play exactly opposite to my style. I am not jealous of a winning LAG. In fact, different winning styles and counters to those styles are one of the most interesting aspects of poker.

14 % VP FR translates to 21 % VP 6max.

Interesting tactic. Not judging at all. I've always learned you should do the opposite (or at least something different) of what others do.

Strange to be proud of preferring to limp / call, as a low stakes cash game player.
Since:
1) you don't want to be the "agressor", giving away the action to your opponents
2) you therefore play postflop most likely passive as well, and cannot choose the bet size
3) you prefer to have the pokersite collect the rake, while by raising and taking down pots preflop you don't have to pay the rake.
4) you learn yourself a style that is not profitable in the long run (no arguments given, think about it yourself)

in this specific hand, you open 8x? but even then you don't manage to get the sizings correct to push ALL in on the river,... this is just a major fokking leak, and that I -a cashgame fish- have to tell you, is disturbing. :f_drink:

I could not have said it better myself. My strategy was developed to counter the normal poker approach. If it continues to work, I will continue to use it.

If you knew he was a crazy maniac good play.

If you didnt make it 4 or 5 BB and bet way bigger on flop. This makes your variance much smaller.
