Dear pokerstrategy community,

I would like to say thank you, for allowing our beloved coach collin to teach us every Wednesday something new about tournament poker. Today, sadly he informed us that he cannot continue teaching us on regular bases in the new year. I would like to use this post to show my appreciation for Collin and his great work, not only on every Wednesday but also in his great videos for about 8 years. He really left a mark in positively influencing poker careers. Without his knowledge and distinctive analytic expertise in tournament poker, I would not have gained the understanding of poker I have now. I started to read his books even before he started working on this platform. The day pokerstrategy announced that Collin is going to work with pokerstrategy, I was very glad because I knew that Collin allows us to see poker a little bit through his eyes. His desire to understand, play and teach poker got transferred to his students and evoke the desire to do the same. This is what makes a good teacher. You can read the Hattie studies regarding this matter. Basically, the study shows empirically that the most important factor to learn the maximum in a lesson is the personality of a teacher. This means if you like the teacher and the teacher has a motivation to teach as good as possible the outcome of learning will maximize. Collin's intrinsic motivation for poker is exactly what you need to get the most out of it. He motivated me for 8 years and will probably do so as long as I play poker. Thank you Collin for everything you taught me.

If you feel similar or just want to show your appreciation towards Collin, I would appreciate it if you could leave some nice words for him too.

greets

maniac aka bennie

Ugh, this is sad news, actually no scrap that - it is devastating news!

Collin has been an inspiration to myself and many others in the PokerStrategy community and far beyond and his weekly coaching should continue in 2020. Admittedly, I have not been present in many of his live streams due to scheduling conflicts but I have always caught up on the VOD and watch his latest videos.

PokerStrategy - you are making a huge mistake here - this is practically the last good thing going for this site and you are about to ruin it - not only for yourselves but for many others.

HAVE A RETHINK!

On a personal note, I'd like to thank Collin for all he has done for my game and when I started streaming on Twitch. He always went above and beyond to help me in any way that he could.

Peace,
Gary

I have been a reg on Collins coaching for about 3 years and during this time I learnt a lot about SnGs and also MTTs! Collin explains very well. HeΒ΄s the best coach I can ever imagine and a great and kind person. I learnt a lot on his coachings and thanks to Collins great videos. Thanks to Collin I learnt a lot about SnGs and could grind up from the 0,1 € level now to the 10€, made more than 1.000 $ out of about 40 $ with SnGs and MTTs. Collin is a great inspiration for his students.

I am unbelievably thankful for this teaching and inspiration!:heart::heart:

It was sad news to hear it at end of previous coaching. I am sure most viewers mood went down pretty harshly because of it. At least mine did. Its also kind of sad news from side of PS coaching side as now there is no regular mtt/sng related stream at all? Well maybe they have evaluated that its not adding enough value to continue.

I tend to be bad on this sort of stuff. Anyway I have enjoyed participating weekly streams relatively often to give my opinions and talk of different spots. Learning some perspectives in process. One thing that has been good for community has been Collins approach of analyzing players hand histories as that can give great value to all viewers and afaik those have been free. Many players have likely found lot of "aha" moments from these. So thanks for lot of dedication and being enthusiastic through the years :)

While I also have to admit that I did not often make it to the live coachings on Wednesday evening due to my busy schedule, I agree that those are very sad news for this community. Collin is a true expert in the field of tournament poker, and well-deserving of his great reputation. He was truly an asset to the tournament poker community on Pokerstrategy, and he always had an open ear for grinders of all levels of skill and experience, including sporadic ones like me.

I realize that the poker boom is over and that poker sites, including poker schools like this one, will have to adapt and won't be able to maintain the same content that they could offer ten years ago. But there are a few things that are worth holding on to, to make sure that the community won't lose its purpose. Many of the static strategy articles don't age well, so fresh new content tailored to the current game dynamics in the form of live coachings is critical. Without that, what will keep ambitious grinders returning to this community?

Not many long-time members would dispute that this site is past its prime, I expect, which is not unusual given the overall developments in the online poker world, which is also clearly past its glory days. But while many of the past cuts in Pokerstrategy's content (expert hand evaluations, black member rewards, etc.) were understandable, this one may very well spell the end of this community.

I do not know the exact reasoning behind this decision, and there may surely be many factors involved that I'm unaware of, but I believe that this is an issue worth re-considering.

Whatever happens, I wish Collin and his family all the best in the future. Their efforts are much appreciated.

Bennie, thanks for these extremely kind words. You're a talented SNG player and a great person. I really appreciate what you said in your post about my motivating you -- it makes me feel great that this is the case!

Upay4dinner, that's really nice of you to say since you've got an awesome stream yourself and I tremendously enjoyed the ones we did together. Thanks so much!

Prim, You've always been there to support the stream and I'm hugely grateful for these kind words. Germany has an amazing Grindette!

Ghaleon, Thanks so much for saying that. I have absolutely huge respect for your game and I often measure how good my thoughts are based on whether you agree with them :)

Harrier, I'm grateful for these kind words and always appreciated your contributions to the coachings and thread!

I also wanted to say here too how much I appreciate Pokerstrategy putting on these streams for the past 8 years. It's been one of the absolute favorite parts of my poker career, having had this opportunity.

I do hope that we can work out me continuing to do some special event streams like for a SCOOP final table and year end review. If Pokerstrategy is reading this, please keep that in mind But either way, I'm super grateful to everyone here and look forward to still producing video content!

I want to add my voice/tears to this thread.

It's really amazing how Collin has been teaching us, how he always showed interest in how WE were doing, what he could help us with and how to grow in poker knowledge. I agree with UPAY4DINNER that it's a terrible decision not to continue these coachings.

In the poker desert of these days, his coachings have been a fresh water place, to drink, to rest and have fun. I am surely gonna miss this :(

Although I only recently had more time to follow the coachings, I always looked at the video's first, liking them a lot, but missing the personal input of question and answer. I really hope this shocking decision will be turned around.

Collin: I wish you and your family the best and hope we still will be able to enjoy your excellent video's. Have a great future!

I make a point of saying how rubbish I am at 2-card poker -- especially tournaments.
Collin went a long way to make a liar out of me.

Like Harrier88, I couldn't make many of the mid-week coaching sessions, but those that I attended went a long way to make a liar out of me.

His presentations are clear, easily understood and his guests always presented an extra dimension.

All the best, Collin!

I have always enjoyed the coaching sessions of Collin Moshman.
A good mix of his professional view on sng/ mtt poker formats and spots, educational content, fun and personal attention to the remarks and questions of the attendees during the session! _thumbsup:

It was sad to hear that Collin's coaching does not go on next year.

As a beginner I had many "Aaah"-moments. I have to admit that I followed the coaching quite passively. Neverless, I learned alot. Collin can explain very well, so that also beginners can understand it.

All the best Collin for you and your family πŸ‘

Oh, no! And what will be of his class? Have you thought another coach yet? Or we won't have free classes anymore here on Strategy.com?
