QJs, 3B vs a fish

The turn is a good bluffing card for us as it holds decent fold equity but i like checking when we hit for some pot control.We can induce bluffs and pick off protection bets and if villain checks back the turn we have an easy river value bet

Against a aggressive player you could also call than making a 3bet bluff out of position to keep the pot small post-flop. Only if he folds a lot on 3bets I would 3bet here. QJs a hand that could play well post flop.

So what would the 3B range should look like vs this kind of player?

I think i slightly prefer to check on turn and valuebet KQ+. We dont know yet if he is calling station.

About preflop ranges - I would actually tighten a bit compared to 3betting reg, probably cut some of suited connectors as those rely mostly on fold equity and we have it way less against recreational player. I think its also worth to consider calling preflop with hands like Axs, smaller pockets or KJo if player on BB is not very aggressive - we dont care about being capped against weak player as he wont realize that and will also make a bunch of mistakes postflop.

do we fold this turn? Would it be a x/c line better?

Preflop I like to 3bet too. Despite playing well postflop, flat calling from the SB leaves you capped most of the times, you will always be OOP, BB could squeeze you out of the pot.

With your range, I'd say that flop is a mostly a check with all the range, even overpairs. Board is dry enough and BTN will have more 8x (hands like K8s, Q8s, J8s), so you can't just start firing despite being a paired board. Against a fish, increasing aggression with good hands might be ok.

As played turn is probably a mix between betting and checking. Folding is exploitable for sure, but I can't see any hands BTN should be raising your line with (not even Q8s or 88 or 5x). Q8s still looses to AA and KK. Raising here will prevent you from shoving OTR with overpairs and strong Qx, which is undesirable from BTN perspective when he holds a monster.
3bet shove would be the standard play vs that min raise with any Qx and better.

However, a fish won't know this.
Once you have some 5x too, better Qx and overpairs, I think it will be ok to fold QJ vs this "nut-looking" turn raise.
