Tricky hand, but after his min raise on the turn I'm pretty sure you are always beat and you have a straight draw as back-up. That makes a call decent, but on the river I would always fold or you think he can bluff like this.

My brother is a good player and he’d fold to the river bet. This is understandable, as this villain declared on the turn that he has us beat.

I would sometimes play it as you did. The way I justify the call is that I plan to write lots of notes. Notes like this a real valuable:

“Didn’t Cbet strong tp ip”
“Min raise turn after flop slow play, nutsish”
“Min raise pre AK”

Guess you are right , now that i think about it, this line really doesn't make much sense with a weaker hand:f_thumbsup:

Min-turn raises are very strong, but with those odds you can't fold tbh. You have a gutshot besides a strong TP.
Once you call OTT you have to call a blank river.

Zetozenio... You don’t have to call a blank river bet after calling the turn bet.

You never have to do anything in this game. This is a very important piece of theory!

In this example, our TP is almost completely dead when he makes his mega-nutty turn min-raise after min-raising preflop and then checking back the flop with initiative HU. AK is the bottom of his range after that shit, and AK has us owned. Our TP could improve to beat it by hitting the Q, we would also beat hands like AT, but if we do hit our Q, the 4 straight will be out so we cant expect him to bet and we can’t donk.

We’re calling the turn almost entirely for the gutshot.

One good thing about the villain min-raising is the amazing price. This 40c call gives us a price of 5-1. Our odds of hitting the gutshot are about 11-1 so we need to make roughly $2.40 extra on the river if we hit.

This is all the money the villain has, so we need to ask ourselves, “can we get this guy to put the rest of his stack in on the river with a 4 straight out??” The answer. Hell yeah we can!! This guy jams KQ preflop! He’s not folding to any bet when he had anything he considered to be a mega nutsy hand.

This is the other thing that is great about the min raise: The price is made better by the fact that the villain has a super strong hand because it means if we hit a better hand our implied odds are enhanced.

In this example, to be sure we get the money off him, we’re going to have to donk jam the river when we hit our straight. That brings our play to around B/E. If we call the turn, we also make some random profit when he checks back the river with air, however rarely that may be. If we add to that the profit we make when we pick up the Q we are making money baby!

The turn call seems profitable, but the river... My brother would call me a fool if I call that bet and he’s probably right. I could just write some notes on this guy without seeing his hand lol. On that river card we are dead.
