So i've been playing for a long time but nothing serious really, trying games FL, NL, SnGs, learning the basics and so on. In the process i was not loosing money, lets say i was a break even player, maybe slightly winning. So recently i've decided to stick to Fullring NL, i had the bankroll so i started playing NL 5. With right table selection these are very soft games. I study almost every day about the game, i post hands here in the forum, so all in all i have never been so confident about my game. So far i have around 10 000 hands played and i am around minus 4$, i know it is not a very big sample, and i hope it is not a good sample:f_biggrin: I started pretty good, then went down a little and then.....Like the gates of hell opened:D Some sick hands for the last 2-3 days, i mean pretty standard hands, not even tilting about them, 80% of them not even considering posting in the forum because there was nothing to post about them. I am much better now at recognizing when i am affected by something, i am very rarely tilting and even when i am on tilt i just stop my session. So today after the last "are you f....... kidding me8-o" hand i just stopped and came here to ask you for advice guys. Should i be worried, is this swing normal, or i am not doing something right? I will not be playing for a while now because i feel like i am becoming more scared and passive because of this situations, so i will wait until this feel goes away. Thank you 
I ever saw 40 BI down swing which made me drop 2 limits with 10bb/100 win rate for hundreds of thousands hands, so! And many up to 25BI dawns as well!
Lol, bless... If you were the best player in the world you could have a 50,000 hand downswing in the micros. This shit happens to everyone. And it gets way, way worse than what you just described.
After your first million hands these losses roll off you like water off a ducks back. After 2 million hands you start praying before you play.
Ok guys but i have another question which was always very interesting to me. How live players manage to do this whole thing. I mean even after an year lets say, the hands that they play live won't be enough for a decent sample. I suggest they can make 50 000-60 000 hands per year. I suppose live games are very different from online and suppose the winrate is bigger but still...

The live game has nothing to do with the online poker 
I guess so, but where the difference comes from exactly? I watched a couple of live players online, i think they looked at their winrates based on an year stats. What is it? The general way the game is played, the live tells maybe?:f_rolleyes:
Vlad, I could tell you if you learn the max you can about the game in general and if you work hard to improve your game and know your opposition you'll be fine. Truth is, those are very important, but in my opinion if you especially learn from your past mistakes, trust me, you'll be a winner player in the long run. The downswings will be harsh, but the upswings will be there for you as well.

Live games are much slower. Tells come into it too. The games are softer. The rake is often higher. And you can’t use a HUD!
But Poker is Poker. Whether live or online it’s the same game that requires the same calculations. Same sort of variance applies to both.
If you can play one you can play the other... Provided your tells don’t ruin you, which they can.
