THE WAKE UP CALL I NEEDED!

Whats up everyone? Its been a hell of a 2020 so far amirite?

I really want to end this year on a positive note. It's time I get my ass in gear. I currently work full time and it's been pretty stressful the last few months. It feels like I could get laid off any day if things dont pick up. It's lit a fire in me and I have been working my ass off to put myself in the best position possible if I do get laid off.

Last week I sat down and really thought about where I am in life and were I want to be at the end of the year. I realized I had been neglecting a lot of things out of just pure laziness. Poker is one of them. I have a hobby that I can make money at during these crazy times. Why am I not taking full advantage of this? I need to be better and more accountable. I am hoping this blog will help me with both. I wrote down a goals for the rest of the year and a plan of how I will be reaching all of them. Here are my poker related goals for the remainder of 2020:

GOALS
1. 10k profits from poker.
2. Taking shots at 200nl by end of the year.
3. Improve SH/HU game.

Lets get this thing started and end the year strong! Good luck everyone and I'll talk to you soon.

It looks like you've been around a while, so I presume you know about the free money offers and bonus offers.

What kind of games will you be playing?
Cash Games? Sit-and-Go? MTTs?
Do you just play Hold'em or do you play any other variants?

Best of luck :gl:,

Hello! Very ambitious indeed, I assume you have been a winning player before that's why you are fixing that 10k profit goal?
I usually would go with volume goals instead of monetary, because variance!
Good luck to you tho

Hi Vorpal! Definitely setting my goals high but I think they are very doable.

I will be playing mostly 9 max NLHE across Bodog/ACR, currently playing 50nl.

Been playing 25-100nl FR for a while now. I am a winning player but my last decent sample my winrate wasnt the greatest. Most of my winrate comes from having very good game seleciton. Bit of a bumhunter here.

I also really like your point of using volume goals instead. Going to redo a few of my goals because of it

Lame!

I like monetary goals. Volume might become just a simple dull grinding at the tables and you may neglect the off the table work. But with financial goal in sight you can switch things up. Study more to increase winrate. Move up and down stakes while adding or removing tables (how many run or how you feel). And just put in a higher volume when it will be necessary. When you try to make a living from it - sometimes you will have to add these extra few hands. Can't just make a break because you hit your volume. You will still have to pay the bills and you will be happy when your saving are still there next week.

Goodl luck!
