PokerStars Software keeps crashing on Mac

I am still facing this all the time.
A friend of mine who is also playing on PokerStars has the same issue.
Strangely I can't find any information on this on the internet.
There are some threads about MacOS crashing. And there is a tutorial by PokerStars on how to clean the clients local cache.
Tried it, and it didn't help.
I tried running a Windows dev image in a virtual machine. The experience sucks.
Using Parallels might be an option, but that means that I have to buy Parallels as well as windows, which I won't do just to play NL2. (Maybe when I make it to NL10 or higher)
Why isn't PokerStars putting any effort into this? Instead they make new stupid gimmick features.
This is still super annoying.
If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know.

Are you using an ethernet cable or wi-fi?

How stable/fast is your internet?
look for speedtest.net to check your speed (free)
multiping or pingplotter (free trials)

thank you for taking the time to answer.
I have a good internet connection. I measure ~30mbit/s download and upload speed at the machine I am playing with.
PokerStars recommends 128kbit/s.
Also all my other system properties exceed the recommendations by far. (I have a very new MacBook Pro)
Connectivity is not the issue. The client crashes, it fails and just stops. I have to reopen it, and log in again, which is annoying, sometimes in the middle of one or multiple hands.
When it doesn't crash, everything works like a charm.
I think I will contact PokerStars directly.

I think that direct contact is the way to go.
You can't be the only person with this problem.

Does Stars run on Linux other than the Mac OS?

There is no Linux client.

I contacted Pokerstars. They responded quickly and politely.
I followed their instructions which unfortunately didn't resolve the issue.
They said they would forward the issue to their programming team.

I do not have high expectations that this will be resolved soon.

Yesterday the application shut down while I was in the middle of two hands in raised pots at the flop.

The timer seems to keep running while I have to reopen, login, rearrange/find the tables.

It's like burning money.

it's the same for me. i found out that is crashes mostly during two things: when you have "active corners" active and go with your mouse into one of the corners, so i disabled "active corners" (not sure they are called like that in english, but you know what i mean). and if i close tables after i busted the software crashes sometimes, so i minimise all tables i bust and wait for a break or so to close them in case the software crashes.

Thanks, I will try this. With "bust" you mean when you want to leave the table?

I meant when I bust aka go out of a tournament, then I wait with closing the actual table window until an opportune moment

Oh, I see, I wasn't familiar with the term because I do not play tournaments.
Not sure if this works for cash games. I have to sit out and then become an observer I guess. Usually when you leave a table this is done by closing it.

I am still very annoyed with the PokerStars software. (The tips from BubbleNedRum unfortunately didn't help)

I cannot recommend it to anyone who is on MacOS.

The support was very polite and they said to forward the issue to the programming team. But who knows when this will be fixed. AFAICT this has been an issue for a long time.

I moved away from PokerStars FTW and found that there is other Poker rooms with really good and stable software.

That's unfortunate. On Tuesday or Wednesday they put out a software update and I disabled the aurora engine and since then it has not crashed for me, besides when clicking on "the deal". but the deal has been removed so there might have been an issue for everyone. but at least the were no more "surprise" software crashes while playing

However, without aurora engine user experience sucks hard, IMO.

same here, crashes all the time
the player notes feature is unusable as well, always causes the client to crash
during crashes we are bleeding chips and returning with depleted stacks
pretty frustrating for sure

I haven’t.
For me personally, I don’t want to run windows on my Mac, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought a Mac in the first place.
It’s sad that it’s probably the best solution because they can’t seem to get their software to function properly on this platform.

I haven't tried it. I would assume that this is works well.
Personally I do not want to spend money on Parallels and Windows license just to be able to play on PokerStars.
I have tried running a Windows virtual machine (free developer image) with Virtual Box. The experience is not great. I would think Parallels is way better... but I don't know.
