My first tournament session ended in a small win. Still far away from high stakes, but I'd rather take a slow restart :f_cool:

Thank You Zoran, I guess you really brought me luck :f_drink:

1st place in 25€ rebuys tournament for a little over 1k is not a bad comeback :f_thumbsup:
I though I will play more tournaments this week, but unfortunately I got sick. Hopefully not Corona :f_wink: My energy levels are almost refilled, need couple of days to feel perfectly prepared for grind again. Unibet Online Poker Series is still taking place next week, so expect me to be involved here some evenings :f_drink:

One more session ended with a victory :f_drink:

It was a 10€ rebuy MTT, 128 participants. Still not very happy with my overall game in most tournaments, but my play improves greatly at the final tables. Not sure if it is because other players feel some kind of pressure, or maybe it is just a good run of cards :f_biggrin:

Hi guys, it's time for a monthly review! Maybe not much changed from September, but at least I've started to play :f_biggrin: So let's look at my goals from beginning :f_thumbsup:

1. Make 12 trips
February - MPN Madrid 895€
February - Kings of Tallinn 1880€
March - Unibet UK Tour London 95€

One of my biggest motivations in poker is travelling, so it is very painful to have only 3 this year. To be honest, I often have night dreams where I play Live events in some nice places, proving how much I miss those trips :f_frown: And the worst part is that there are no signs that Live Poker is getting back soon :f_zZz:

2. Get some profit over 10k games at 100$ Spin&Go's

Still haven't played any Spins last month, but I've already scheduled some sessions in the coming days. Hopefully my skill hasn't vanished, but probably I will have to start from lower stakes.

3. Everlasting study of poker - 360 hours
January - 35 hours
February - 30 hours
March - 37 hours
April - 34 hours

May - 20 hours
June July August - 0
September - 9 hours

As I said, it will be a slow restart :f_rolleyes: After 40 weeks, the figure stands at 165 hours. Fulfilling this task seems unrealistic, but I'm definitely going to kick a higher gear :f_thumbsup:

4. Update trophy room or win Online Major

I'm very happy that my play helped my nation to win bronze in World Cup :f_drink: With not much travelling, this tournament was the biggest event for me this year and I'm very happy it was a successful one :f_cool:

5. Practice French language

Last week I got a reminder that my first French lesson started one year ago! I'm not going to pretend that I could make a normal conversation in French, but it makes me happy whenever I see some French words on TV and I can translate some of them. Current 9284 XP is not far away from expected 12000, so I'm on track here :f_thumbsup:

6. Buy some land outside the city

Some progress here :f_cool: Together with my wife we started more seriuos to observe and shortlist areas in our region. Tomorrow we are going to take a look directly in couple places, so I'm more optimistic about this goal! The prices range from 10k to 100k, depending how far away and how big the land-plots are. My favorite for now is in the picture below, but I would need another Final Table for Battle of Malta :f_biggrin: It is next to the river, close to the mound (something Lithuania is famous for), but it would need much investment as well. Also to note, one of my football teammates is working with solar power systems, so we have already arranged works for building one if my task to buy land is complete. No way back, I guess :f_ugly:

7. Hold a healthy body through proper nutrition and active exercises
Well, having a baby is much more challenging than I have expected :f_biggrin: For sure raising a girl is the most fascinating thing in my life now, but it changed my diet and sports regime completely. Luckily, I have a wonderful wife who takes even more responsibility so I'm slowly getting back to trainings again. A little proof that I'm getting better, is that I'm scoring goals in our restart league :f_biggrin: Only my teammates are above me which I'm very happy for.

8. To maintain strong relationship with others

With possible restrictions of meeting people in public, I don't have much complains and negative feelings, as I have 2 wonderful people at home :f_love: And cat as well :f_biggrin: Our daughter is growing fast and we are very happy to see her smiling every day! I've read that when you become a father, you instantly lose a "killer instinct" and you try to minimize risks whenever possible. It would be a disaster for a poker player, so I will have to be very careful not to carry over the softness to the tables :f_biggrin:

9. Get promoted with Top Kickers to League III

I've mentioned earlier that my teammates are topping the table for the goalscorer, so it's no big surprise that we moved up couple of places from last time. The first part of the season was very bad so after first round we were only playing for Surviving the league. Since restart we won 3 matches from 3 games so hopefully we can finish the season on a higher note with Only 2 games left.

10. Read 15 books
1. "Factfulness" by Hans Rosling
2. "Think like a cat" by Pam Johnson Bennett
3. "Unlimited memory" by Kevin Horsley
4. The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo
5. 2nd World War by Robertas Petrauskas
6. "Kiss me" by Carlos Gonzalec

7. "The gentle sleep book" by Sarah Ockwell Smith

The last book is also about raising the babies :f_pleased: It explains why the patterns of baby's sleep is so irregular and what to expect in the coming months. Very useful book as we are much more aware of her behavior. And when you know that it is very normal to get up every 2 hours at night, you don't ask yourself "What I'm doing wrong?" anymore :f_thumbsup:

So that was my September, still far away from my normal grind, but with more optimism and happiness for the future :f_thumbsup:

The most difficult part for me was to make sure my wife got sufficient sleep.
Since I lacked the equipment to do the feeding, I tried to do as much of the rest as I could, but I worked long hours when I worked.
Fortunately, I got a lot of days off.

What was the "Unlimited Memory" about -- were these techniques for improving memory?
(sorry -- too lazy to go to Amazon to find out)
If so, I desperately need this book!

Cheers,
VS

Yes, you will find some techniques for sure! The man trick is you have to exercise your brain everyday like you do your muscles. And it adds some practical tips as well :f_thumbsup:

Weekly review, part 42
2020 Challenge
Weekly profit 776 €
Previous profit 16 032€
Current profit 17 105€

Restarting my weekly reviews, after missing more than 3 months :f_rolleyes: But I'm happy that my bankroll goes up despite playing low stakes. All the profits came from Unibet Tournaments, although this week will be more to choose from. First, tomorrow I will play Live Event in Lithuania "The Fisherman challenge", the biggest event of the year here. Seems like people are not afraid of Covid, as registration numbers are very high. One more proof that people miss playing poker :f_cool:

Hello guys, another week has started just :f_thumbsup: Small profits in last 7 days, all from Spins. However, I was running above EV, winning most flips so can't say that I played really well. But for a restart after a long break, I can take it :f_cool:

Also I played in the live local 220€ event. It was a tough day 1, finished a little over starting stack but less than average. Day 2 started well, made one double up, but then I received 99 and raced against AK preflop. Ace on the flop was enough to end my journey. It was a nice live play, so hopefully I can try that again soon :f_drink:

Nice week!
This week I had a revelation about EV -- you run above EV even if you're on the top side of the flip.
You win 100% of the pot even if your equity is 55% -- you it looks on the graph the same as a suckout.

Three cheers for +EV !

Indeed! Or you lose a flip, it seems like you are the most unluckiest man in the world :f_ugly:

So the poker gods showed me my place :f_biggrin: A bad week, although it was not so bad until Sunday highroller events. My plan was to play 100 Spins last week, which was fine. Positive ChipEV, lots above money EV, and some profit in the end.

So you can imagine my tournament session was bad. Played 2 events of 500€ and bricked both. One was a standard flip lost, other was my stupid bluff on the River. Just before the game I was watching BenCB video about successful bluffs on the Rivers, so I thought that was right on the topic :f_tongue: Overall my loses shouldn't be so high as I won couple of MTT tickets which I can use in the future, but it isn't included in the overall balance. For instance, I won a 300€ MainEvent satellite, but I couldnt play on Saturday. And as it was a specific tournament, I might wait a long time for the next one :f_ugly:

It was a long time since my last losing week so I hope this week will be much better. Off to the tables and GL all! :f_thumbsup:

Remember a while ago we were discussing how you wanted to buy a nice piece of land?
Yesterday I came across a youtube channel where a young couple made this step - buying a nice piece of land in the middle of nowhere in Latvia. The couple is Latvian-Greek and ... it looks like they have a lot to do.
A short intro video, maybe it gets you into the hunt for nice places, as well:

Good day guys! Last week was one of the best for me in this year :f_thumbsup: Had success in all formats: Spins, tournaments and even promotions :f_biggrin:
Lets start from the spins..

Profits of 1700 dollars in 169 games, just shy above over 10%ROI :f_ugly: According to moneyEV, profits should have been even bigger by more than 1000 :f_eek: Nonetheless, I was very happy with my play, 97 ChipEV is more than I could expect in the long run. And if you play on PokerStars, you know about the leaderboards of Spins, where the first 50 games of the day go into calculation. And one day was so good, that I finished second, claiming additional 1000 :f_love:

Interesting fact - the difference between me and 6th place is only 2 points, meaning that if I would have lost one Spin in the lowest 2x buyin, I would only get 200 dollars instead of 1000. So that is one more proof to keep your focus even in the lowest buyin games :f_tongue:

And as for tournaments, I had some success on Unibet, reaching couple of final tables on Sunday. However, in the latest phases I couldnt beat my opponents and finished 3rd and 7th respectively for around 500€ profits of the week. Also played on PokerStars for bounties, but it looks like I'm not too familiar with that format. People get involved in allins so easily, especially if they cover the other player by chips, and my reads often are wrong. There is no way that a player will call Allin 40BB deep with T♠:8♠:.. Wrong again :f_biggrin: Will have to study more about bounties for sure :f_cool:
