Hello everyone,
I guess some of you may now me from the poker discussions but I suppose most of you don`t :f_biggrin:. First of all, I am going to write this blog mostly about myself, so I cannot guarantee about my English and if you`ll understand it.
My name is Petar and I am from Bulgaria. I graduated law this year and I am planning to work as a judge or lawyer in the next years. I had another job as a sport analyzer which I left two weeks ago. The reason to leave was that I was making more money from the poker than the job ( it was part time and not very well paid) and also to study for lawyers exam which will be November or December. I also play tennis semi-professionally ( I am amateur but play tournaments at least once or twice in a month and dream to become the best amateur player at least in my country). I also write a book about which name should be " Mental game of tennis" which also something I really want to finish and which also suggest about my interest in psychology.
I was planning to start this blog earlier, but didn`t want to do it when I am in a very good mood or when I run very well, because it was possible to get disappointed when the bad run come. So today I had maybe the worst session in my life or at least one of the worst, so it is a good day to start. :f_biggrin:. I had session where I lost 6.5 BI in 30 minutes. That really hurt and was not good.

So a few words about my poker journey. I play poker for an early age, but not seriously of course. I played a few years online where I busted a few bankrolls also not seriously. This year when the pandemic started and during the lockdown I decided it is the perfect time to improve my poker knowledge and become better player. First of all I bought a course from another site ( I don`t know if I can mention the name) with 30 videos which really really helped me. The guy had also a book which also very good and help me a lot. After that I got bought premium for another site and watched most of its content. I found it really interesting and useful, too. Then I read another book, which was not so helpful because it was mostly about life poker. After that I bought another cash game course, which everybody told me was the best course which exists ( I still haven`t watched the whole course).
In March I deposited 80$ in bet365 poker and started playing. I crushed 10 nl pretty easy as the players there were awful. However I had bigger problems on 20 nl and I spend 2 months there.
Since August I reached 50 nl and I am running not bad on it. I didn`t have so much time for play as I had a job and studied law but tried to play 2-3 hours per day. I have around 70k hands on the 50 nl and I have around 2 bb/100 which is not so good but I had some downswing the last days.

I guess the most important thing in creating a blog is to set a good goals and to achieve them. Elliot Roe says that the goals should be such that could be achieved. So I think it is a good Idea to set some goals in my first post:

1. My first goal is to take my lawyers exam which will be next few months ( I guess it doesn`t sound seriously in a poker site, but I spend around 6-7 hours per day studying law , around 4-5 hours playing poker and 1 hour playing poker, 1-2 hours playing tennis.)
2. My second goal is really to improve my mental game (as it is really important in poker, tennis even in law and will be helpful for my book).
3. The third goal my winnings for this and next month to be at least equal to these I would get on the job I left ( I know result oriented goals are not goals, but this really is not so big number)
4. 4th goal is to improve to around 3.5-4 bb 100 on 50nl and to make around 200k hands until the end of the year.
5. Fifth goal is to finish Alex Kanu`s course until the end of the year( even better until the end of November)
6. Sixth goal is to make a significant progress on my book, because that`s a problem too, because I need to read books and to improve my mentality to be able to write how other people can improve their mentality.

I would be absolutely surprised if anybody read half of this blog, but good luck to these at least to these, who read this message. :f_drink:

One funny hand from today. The villain looked really bad (91/18 preflop ) and made really strange postflop. I didn`t feel like I could fold my flush after such a strange overbet :f_biggrin:

It is nice to know that players like this still exist at NL 50
I think that it would be tough to call with a baby flush when the turn bet is so large.
Well done!

This looks like the beginning of a great blog...

All the best,
VS

After a few bad sessions the previous two days, today was a pretty good session. I also have date for the exam which will be next month so I have less time than expected, but I still study law around 6-7 hours and play poker 2-3 hours , tennis two hours and study poker around an hour so I think it`s going well.

One hand against one of the very good regs, which I think shouldn`t happen for him. I was sure he`ll bet the river and I was pretty happy he overbet it. It`s a little strange what I can fold after I`ve called the turn but I guess he believed I could flush draws or I don`t know.

And one hand that I messed up, but I was not sure I had to raise the turn, but maybe it was a good idea. The river was just horrible and although I did not want to fold and don`t think there was another option.

Today I had one of the worst session as a level of play and one of the best sessions as a result but we all know that doesn`t really matter. I won 10 BI and I ran under EV, but I deserved to lose the same amount.
I`ll just post the worst played hand in my whole life here and maybe the more interesting ones in the hands discussion forum

---------------------

Here I played the hand in a wrong way maybe in each of the streets which is just terrible. The idea to call the flop was that the other two players were very weak and did not expect them to shove or reraise and I hoped to play against SB in position. On the flop I guess it is standart to call. On the turn I`m not sure. I guess to shove here, but i liked my flush draw and I`m not sure if call is really good option. And the river is just awful I think, absolutely terrible. The worst possible play. My bet here is the biggest shìt possible. Obviously this is very difficult to be value bet, although I guess he can call with KK and maybe even with AA without a flush which he for sure has in his range. I think however I just needed to check here. I`m really disappointed with this hand.
-----------------------------------

Otherwise the month was good . I won 1200$ on NL 50 and 500 $ rakeback which is absolutely fine. I started to shot on 100 NL. Yesterday there was livestream in pokerstrategy about me and I think I got too proud because they told I`m pretty decent player which resulted in a bad play today.

That x-r with QT full house on river seems pretty optimistic versus good reg. KK and KQ will obviously snap call but what worse will call? Only one combo of TT which could very well fold. So Q9 maybe. Seems like you will likely just value town yourself.

Today is an interesting day, because my exam was postponed for unknown date for the future maybe next year, which means now I can become full time poker pro . I don`t know how this is going to work and what the results will be , but I guess it would be interesting. I am planning to move to one more room, because there`s not enough traffic during the day in Ipoker. My two options in Bulgaria are bwin and pokerstars and I`m not sure which is better.

I don`t have interesting hands for today, so this is a spot, where I think I had pretty easy fold of set.

At first I was puzzled because neither BTN nor SB were all in.
It took me a few seconds to realize both players showed their hands

Nice escape,

That's how it often seems to go in omaha cash when I play versus vpip 100 maniac. Though there equities run closer preflop.

With player like that behind it might be good idea to 3bet bigger than normal as you can expect cold call to come with high frequency and BB then has pretty great pot odds to call. Also reason to 3bet less perhaps. Well going big relatively wide to iso BB would have merit. But could create some really spewy stuff versus BU if he thinks we might try stuff like that :)

For that QT hand I commented earlier. Curious what bluffs are you finding there on river? KT and K9 are reasonable ones imo not beating any value but blocking full houses. Qx is probably too strong to use as bluff. Do you expect average reg to go for such bluffs on your games?

For the QT, I`ll not bluff agianst that guy especially and I would play the hand in different way against regs maybe. This guy was a big fish and I expected him to call with lots of garbage, just guess his hand was total junk. I don`t even think I need bluffs against overbet on the river here. I don`t expect any average reg to go for a bluff here.

And about the guy with 100 VPIP, I adjusted, correctly, I raised more against him, i took one stack from him after that it was just sad how he hit every river against me
