Thanks! I know these types, sort of. Everyone has a slightly different categorization.
I think I will try to work on a player type/stats matrix. I think that could be helpful.

Here is a list of the various player types I tag and make a note of.
1. TAG
2. Weak Tight
3. LAG
4. Loose Passive
5. Slight Loose Passive
6. Loose recreational/unskilled
7. Maniac
Preflop / post flop playing styles:
8. Loose Passive / Aggressive
9. LAG / Passive
10. Maniac / Passive
I am slowly evolving toward those.
I used to take detailed notes, but now with the new Aurora graphics, they are all more-or-less unreadable
<sigh>

I'd like to see that!
There used to be a chart that showed aggressive-passive on one axis, and loose-tight on the other.
I can't find it now though...
in my opinion, everyone should figure out their own system, which makes sense to you.
i like my tags to imply clear adjustments that i should make.
if i'm using a tag other than the simple "reg" for a reg (meaning i'll play my solid standard game), i want that to mean something clear.
"LAG" hardly means anything - are they the never-folding-equity type, or the type that is aggressive in small pots but respects it when you stand your ground, or something else? the adjustments are rather different.
recreationals have varying levels, too. some guy that opens 10 BB with 97o and doesn't fold second pair doesn't deserve the same tag as the 30/5 open limper...

That is a very good point.
I once used just a single color tag for bad players, nothing else. I know it is not very clear what bad means either, but at least it is simple and helps with table selection. Doesn't help that much with adjusting strategy, though.
i think it's reasonable to have two big generic "reg" and "recreational" categories, and other tags meaning more specific adjustments when you get those kinds of information. it's not exactly what i do, but that's the essence of it.
Thanks everyone for all the advice! I really appreciate this and it is very valuable. ππ»
I just had a small revelation moment while studying W34z3l's Preflop Powerup videos.
He says that a FoldTo3bet stat of ~60% is good (for several reasons I do not want to get into now).
I always had troubles achieving this. I thought my value is 74% which is way too high. And couldn't see how to improve because playing even more 3bet pots didn't seem profitable.
Then I looked more closely and found out that this is the overall FoldTo3Bet stat.
The correct one is called "Fold to PF 3Bet After Raise" in PT4 which is actually at 44%. So I was burning money all the time by overcalling vs 3bets.
Wow!
I first need to learn how to use PT4 properly, I guess.

At the top of the Pokertracker forum, is a sticky called https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=222133
If you go there, you will find links to a ton of PT4 tutorials, guides and so-on.
Enjoy

Thanks, I think for the most part I know it. It was a bit ironical and self humiliating.
I was actually overcalling vs 3bets while I was thinking I was overfolding and trying to find even more calls. π€¦πΌββοΈ
Hey ! First of all good luck with your challenge !
I read your blog while drinking my cofee today and i have a question, what ranges do you use if you use any ?
Having good ranges will help you and will fix you some of your problems and weak stats preflop.

Thanks. Will check out your blog as well.
I have played around with pre-flop ranges a lot. Here is what I did more or less:
- The simplified starting hand chart from the NLHE BSS
- Then the simplified short handed ones
- Then for very short the ones from here
- Then the ones from W34z3l's 6max micro stakes walkthrough video series from 2014
- Then I bought a cash game course from Raise Your Edge and used those a lot
- And now I am transitioning to the ranges from W34z3l's Preflop Powerup videos
I never stick to any 100%. But took them as rough guides.
Oh nice. W34z3l is a great coach so his ranges are always good to follow and i guess those from your course are good too.
I haven't played in a long time, but in my blogs ( if you have time ) you can find some helpful posts.
In December i always take a vacation for 1 or 2 months so i will start to play a bit of NL2 myself this month.
How many hands do you have right now ? Can you post a report with your stats like this : ( You use PT4 right ? )

Current BR: $55.15
@AgapieGheorghe here are my results since 1.11.2020. (Overall I have 50k hands)
Since I am constantly working on my game, it makes more sense to focus on the most recent hands played.

My thoughts:
- 50% RFI from BB is strange (I think this is because someone posted a bb in EP-BU)
- Fold to steal is too high (maybe I can defend more from SB)
- 3bet PF is tight but that is ok IMO
- Fold to F CBet could be lower, and Raise F CBet maybe a bit higher, not sure here
For the rest it is ok, I guess?
WTF, I configured the report in PT4 as you can see in the previous post. Then I changed the date filter on the left and all settings were reset to default. π€¬
We need more hands to analyze your stats. Over 10k atleast.
- From what I see you raise a lot of hands in EP but you miss some hands in CO.
- Your 3bet is a bit to low. Also it seems you 3bet just for value from MP, CO and BU.
- The gap between Vpip and Pfr looks a bit high. But if you have a lot of fishes at the tables is ok to play more wide and get involved in more pots with them.
- You give up to much on Turn. You bet Flop most of the time but you just check Turn.
Ofcourse with just 2k hands could be the variance.
Good luck with the grind ! ![]()
P.S. If you want to talk more you can send me a PM. I started to play again on Nl2 got close to 4k hands now.
Hey, during Christmas I will have free time, I will not go back to my home country because of covid, and in the country I live in, the 24-26 of December are bank holidays, and I have mandatory PTO
so if you'd like, you can record a video of 1h (2 Zoom tables or 4 regular tables), and I can review it like I did for LahtiPelican.
Edit: You can read this post and the next few ones to see how it can look like: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3186573#post3186573
I watched this video on poker bank about player types years ago and it's still a system i use which i think works very well as i like to keep it as simple as possible.

Awesome, I'd love that. I will try to make a recording and then come back to you. ππ»
I love this graph which shows the relationship between tightness/aggression and how the 4 main types relate to each other
