Villain 24/18 (38 hands)
I would like to reinforce my understanding here, because I have gotten conflicting opinions on this.
I have never used a solver, so I have no intuition for the GTO solution.
But it makes sense to me, that the only way to get value from a worse hand is to let them bet/bluff/semi-bluff. This works because my hand is not vulnerable at all.
W34z3l talks about this in his "C-Bet - Sizing and Selection" video:
Characteristic of an OOP Check as PFA:
- Anything that doesn't have significant vulnerability issues
- Strong hands and semi-bluffs can be check/raised
- Most one pair hands can be check/called
- Weaker draws can be check/called
I have also seen this situation discussed in other coaching videos where the coach favors a check.
On the other hand two reviewers of this exact hand favored a cbet, mainly to keep initiative and charge for draws and maybe even for worse 2nd pairs.
What is the correct strategy?
