Why you are betting the turn? Check/call turn with combination of marginal made hand and a draw.

Only way to have 14 outs if you count flush, 9's and 8's. Than you need to be sure 2 pair is good against villains range. I would most likely check/call turn as well.

Only two pairs you lose to are Q3, Q5, Q9 and Q8. We block the last two and I would assume he often raises the first two. So I think we can count 14 outs as being live.
That being said, I don't see too many pros in betting turn. Ofcourse you're ahead of loads of hands but you get into sticky spots when raised or even when called. I'd checkcall and re-evaluate river. If we hit the perceived nuts (a flush or a 9). I'd go for a lead on river, two pair cc and if we brick, it's kind of size- dependent wheter I call or not.

I think the main lesson here is to keep the pot small on the turn since we like the turn but we're still not super excited about the hand.

Why wouldn't you have SD value with second pair in a limped pot on 35Q9cc? He can have a boatload of draws, floats, lower pairs that call the flop.

Yeah just x-c turn. That way you allow villain chance to bet his flop floats like gutshots and keep pot in control. If it goes checked you can think about value betting some rivers without improving for thin value.

As played I would still call turn in cEV game but it has become unnecessarily ugly spot.

Let's say turn and river goes check/check, you don't think your pair of 9s can be best and win at SD? Or Villain bets turn or river with bluffs , you can beat bluff with pair
