Hello everyone!

Not sure how much these introductions are really worth, but I'm doing so to try and take my game to the next level, as I'm sure many of you are as well

Little about me, I'm 22 and I've been playing poker since I was 17. I would consider myself an experienced player. Nowhere near an expert, but not an amateur by any means.

I mainly play a cash game on Saturdays at my uncles where we run a small 6-10 handed game of 25c / 50c. Very vanilla, only 1-2 decent players other than myself. I've learned there to mange my emotions, pick up reads, study and put into practice card theory, and so on to show results. Before, I would get angry and say "I can't win because they call with anything, and always win!" but I have since learned to use that to my advantage. I play online some, but feel like I am not disciplined enough to make any real success there.

My Strengths:
Capable of good reads (My biggest strength)
Can play calculated, slow and relaxed. Not a gambler
Capable of making big lay-downs
Decent understanding of Ranges / some theory

My Weaknesses:
When I lose, very capable of tilting. Gotten better over the years, but still a major concern.
Still get shaky when bluffing
Poor overall understanding of poker theory
Bad bankroll management / no plan
Poor confidence when starting a $1/2 game (Mostly because of the risk due to bankrolling issues)

I've been trying to tackle my local $1/2 game at the casino, but can't seem to land profitable wins. I prefer to play in person rather than online, and I feel like my game is stronger there. I once built a $2k bankroll with outside means (not poker) and over the course of a few weeks, lost it all doing $200 buyin's. I feel like every time I lose I learn something new, but still struggle to find proper ways to build a bankroll through just poker when the only live game going is out of my budget range.

Anyways, hope to get to know some of you! Cya around

Hi JacobTL
Welcome to PokerStrategy.com :welcome:

Be sure to check out the free money offers and bonus offers.
Read the instructions carefully -- they usually apply to rooms where you don't already have an account.

I know you said you prefer live to online, but having the online game available gives you the opportunity to play thousands of hand in the time it takes to play hundreds live.

Do you just play Hold'em or do you play any other variants?

Even though you've played a while I recommend reading our No Limit Hold'em lessons overview articles first.
That article leads you through the basics and beyond.
It makes a great refresher course. _biggrin:

If you have any questions, just post them in the Q&A forum.

All the best,
VS
