It looks like you are working very hard to get there! It's just a matter of time! Good luck!

It's been almost two weeks since I wrote anything in the blog, so I should really do this more often.
What I have written in the blog before is that I need to write down my thoughts to process information better. I find that I to do this more often!

The last few weeks of poker have been tough, with me even doubting to quit after a tilt. However, I think this is where the "boys" are separated from the "men". I'm not going to stop now, because things are going a bit less poker in a short period of time. When I look back and see what went wrong, I think it was mainly because I played a lot and studied little. Especially the tendency to play more when I am losing causes a negative mindset, I think you can compare this with a downward spiral. Discussing this with my coach has made me look more positive and look less at short-term results.

By studying more, having shorter sessions and more rest, I notice more positive results. It is often advised to analyse your hands after a while. This remains a weak point of mine, often I do not know how to analyse it, where to start. So I think I should focus on that first in the coming weeks. There are enough hands, where I doubt whether I am making the right move.
Perhaps there are readers of my blog who have suggestions to articles, YouTube or want to help me once via skype etc?

Personally, I regret being back at NL5, the fact that I had reached the NL10 milestone gave me a good feeling. Nevertheless, I am still very motivated. Only my approach needs to be slightly different.

Cheers :f_drink:

So yeah, sitting right now in a store for horse riding stuff while my girlfriend is fitting boots I am thinking about a discussion I had with some players on discord by doing a challenge. Inspired by LathiPelican that reached the 'get rich and die trying' challenge. congrats for that mate!

I want to do a challenge to reach $1,000,- not by setting a date. I'll move up at 25 buy-ins and move down at 20 buy-ins.

Ok will do the correct math in a later post, since I am in a store now. But I hope this challenge gives me a little more motivation.

Good luck for your challenge, I will follow! :f_drink:

The good news is your challenge perfectly fits the Get rich or die tryin' rules, so you can opt in too.

I hope your name will be in the winners list soon!

Thanks guys!..

So I made a calculation for the BR challenge. The last couples of day were pretty good that already boosted my motivation..

Yesterday I took the plunge. On Twitch I was following one of my favourite Poker players. In his chat I complimented his course that I am taking, asking if he would like to review a session of mine.

I never had him agree to this, but I was wrong. He said send me a message on Discord and we'll fix that. Maybe I'll put it on YouTube! So I was super surprised and happy !! :f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool::f_cool:

So this weekend I'm going to record a number of sessions. I hope to improve my game with his comments.

In the meantime, I have recorded a number of sessions. Two tables of Zoom for the coach who is going to review a session of mine.
I notice that I am not a Zoom player, I find the pool quite hard. In addition, my top game (until now) is not at Zoom but at regular tables.
Now that the sessions are recorded I will also go back to the regular tables.

For this week I will not play the tables either, but spend the time to study.

This is the result... With this, I am going to almost not reach the 3300 hands I had to play on NL5. :f_ugly:
The Br challenge is not a competition but a personal goal. :)

For the last couple of days focussed my energy on putting the ranges I have from the BTS Scrimitzu course in FlopZilla.
The reason is that I really want to understand ranges when to check/bet or fold. Probably, I have said this before in the blog and now I am sticking by it.

I hope if I put the ranges in FlopZilla, it's easier to analyze hands.

This evening I did play 1 session, only for the purpose to record it.
Again, I asked a coach to review one of my sessions. I have posted a video of him before and I still follow him on Twitch.

He has also indicated on his channel that if you ask him he wants to review a session. So no sooner said than done.... save the date! June 14th at 6pm UK time my session will be reviewed by none other than Weazel_1991. I feel quite honoured that he wants to do this for me.

If you don't know who I mean!

Two days ago, I discovered that PokerStars has new badges for the X number of hands you have played. This article is also described by PokerStrategy.

My feeling is that I should not show my badge, it is nobody's business how many hands I have played. They can tell that I play a lot, for example. Not everyone has this idea, which can be seen at the tables.

What shocked me yesterday is that there are players with, say, a 99 badge. What do 500,000 hands mean? But still being short-stacked. You would think that you would know a bit more about the game after half a million hands, wouldn't you?

It can be surprising first, but you can browse statname and find fishes, who played several 100k hands and they are down more than 60k USD on micro stakes! I don’t remember the name of this exact fish, only thing I know that he is Hungarian.

haha yes.. I followed one player a couple of tables a few weeks ago. You have to best fast because the wait-at-table (not sure if it called correct) I pretty annoying to use.. Like not usable. You have to click when there is a free space. But at the end I got some nice money of him. Maybe its the same guy you mentioned :_

A high badge might add to fold equity, similar to the way 500BB stacks at zoom tables 3Bet everything.

Then again, it might have the opposite effect.

A player with half a million hands playing short stacked is likely doing so deliberately.
At PokerStrategy.com we used to teach such a strategy, but it is no longer possible at most rooms to buy in with a 20BB stack

Edit: I just tried it. Although I could go up to 99, there is nothing to stop me showing a "44" to perhaps deceive some players

Always put up the pocket deuces :P

I think ill stick to nothing and not to deviate my strategy or something. I have a hard to time apply a decent strategy :f_p::f_p:

choosing 22 is too obvious. for deception, you probably wanna go a little bit higher

Is there a GTO PokerStars badge?
I so wanted to post my MicroMillions winner badge, but apparently my win was too long ago.

What is it, that I keep calling off marginal hands?

It is not the fact that I don't know my hands are marginal, but why do I keep calling them.
I don't get myself, is my brain playing a game with me?

An example hand: Me in MP with QQ raise > CO 3b to 9bb > BTN Calls 9bb > BB All-in... At this point, the SPR is too low and it's better to fold. But I just call it off and face KK (BTN has decent stats).. I can continue with this kind of hands, but you get the point. I noticed that I keep playing breakeven is because I keep making the wrong calls.

A dutch saying... your courage sinks in your shoes (de moed zakt in je schoenen). What can I change?
I eat pretty healthy, work out 4-5 times a week, get enough sleep, have no stress from work, and my private life is going great.
For 2 months I am pretty stuck around $200,- dollars. It might be better for me to focus on a mental poker study for the upcoming time.

In these multi-way pots although the SPR drops, the pot odds are very good (or at least until until BB shoves)

That is true, maybe not the best example hand :P

Last week I worked on the mental aspect of poker. I told the guys on Discord that they can start calling me Zaratras "the calling station". Because I call, with minimal or no equity.

I got a free subscription to the meditation app "Balance" and I'm taking the 'Dr. Cardner Unbeatable Mindset' course from pokercoaching.com. The first episode is mainly about how your brain works, where your focus comes from, and why you get distracted.

There is a clear difference between where I played good poker and bad poker.
Because I signed up for ACR poker with a bonus code including 27% Rakeback.

The huge loss was also due to a number of bad beats in a row. Which I can't be bothered about anymore now.
Victory is not always for the fastest or the strongest, but for those who persevere.
