Although I'm surprised the UTG would raise/shove such a hand, in general your analysis was correct.

I often tell myself (out loud if necessary) "A good fold is a good fold regardless of what comes after"
I think that this fits that.
The alternative is to play for a side pot vs BTN, but since BTN shoved, I like that option less.

if BTN indeed has the 3-bet range that you assume, you might well just fold it - they're not going to donate their stack to you when an "overcard" comes - the only hope is to get paid by the recreational UTG.

i'd 4bet and cry-call it off (ideally we want BTN to fold and UTG to continue, which is certainly not unrealistic), BTN might be somewhat wider against the recreational UTG, and if UTG shoves wider that makes our odds better.
given your assumptions i'd just not put any money in the pot (fold), if you know for a fact that you are behind his range then why bother, insufficient equity and no fold equity

What Tomaloc said! And I would like to add that I would recommend to never cold-call anything from the SB. And more generally cold-call as little as possible, OOP.
You have a huge disadvantage that you can partly counter by 3betting/or cold 4betting etc.
If you ever cold-call OOP, do it with combos that have better playability, e.g. suited ones.

It depends. I don't think a cold call in SB wouldn't be bad all the time. In a single raised pot i wouldn't mind it, but in a 3bet pot it's more tricky with in mind the orginal raiser could shove like now. In this situation I would make a 4bet to like $1,20 and stack off against the short stack and fold if both players are going broke like now. if I would cold call in a 3bet pot I would do that as trap most of the time. if the UTG is fishy it would be a interesting move to make with KK+.

I like to cold call in the SB if the pot is multi-way and I hold cards that aren't easily dominated, yet can flop well.
Things like 76s for example.

Costs very little to get into the pot, and no trouble getting out if the flop brings no joy.

And surprisingly decent equity to go along with the decent pot odds...
