draw heavy tu but HU against my second pair, turn check for value/pot control or bet for protection?

fold, Hero raises to 4 BB, fold, fold, SB calls 3.5 BB, fold

Flop: (9 BB, 2 players) 4♦ 6♦ 6♣
SB checks, Hero bets 5.5 BB, SB calls 5.5 BB

Turn: (20 BB, 2 players) A♦
SB checks, Hero checks - Here I choosed to check because I believe he fold all worse hands and call only Ax, sets or flush draws. I dont want bloated pot. This way pot will be reasonable on river and I can call reasonable bet. He can try to steal it (more value for me, he will not pay it to me without my check on turn) and if I am behind I will loose less. Is my line of thinking correct or I need defend these positions on draw heavy turn HU?

your line of thought makes sense, but it is somewhat "old school".
do you think he's folding a hand like 77 on the turn? or any pocket pair with a diamond? also, what about all the Ax in your open raising range?

being in position, you'll also usually have the opportunity to check the river when you bet the turn. i'd size small with all hands that i decide to bet (a lot), think about the size that would make a pocket pair uncomfortable between calling and folding - maybe like 8 BB.

I think on the turn is a good time for an underbet, its a different strategy, I would even bet a little less then what Tomaloc suggests, I may even bet 6bb but 8 would work as well.

if villain reraises, then it is very acceptable to fold as then he is showing his hand, if he calls okay, check down to river and if he folds great news...

He can be carrying bunch of junk hands in this senerio Kdx and as said above PP with a diamond in it, 57, 53.. could float with all kinds of stuff.
