Introducing: Fishy Fridays

Yes, it´s Sunday and I´m late for the party but you know what? I DON´T CARE! :f_ugly: After veggie Tuesday comes the fishy Friday! Another food challenge day, which Harrier brought up and I decided that I´m in!

So, let me show you what I ate on Friday:

For lunch I had avocado with tuna salad. And for dinner we had salmon:

my daughter-in-law made rice pilaf -- but with curry.
It was way tastier than it sounds, but a bit dry.

To accompany it, she made 3 different varieties of chicken wings -- one type was supposed to be ultra hot.
I tried one. It was spicy, but I could eat it w/o pain, so I'll know for next time to take a couple of 'em.

We have acquired a third cat who failed "dirt box 101".
It either scrapes dirt out on to the floor, or pees over the edge -- both of which require extra clean-up effort on the part of the luckless goof (me) that has the honour of doing the catbox daily.

So I cut down a storage bin to put the litter box in.
I'll let you know how it works....

Not bad for store bought stuff that you prepare in a couple of minutes.

Do they taste any different from each other? :f_biggrin:

Yes, those breakfast items did taste like they're supposed to. :f_wink:

For the waffles, I even paid extra to get some which are said to be made from "bio" eggs and flour. I guess there's some leeway when it comes to those labels, but the cheaper waffles that were available were explicitly made from eggs from industrial barn hens (not battery levels, but not all that great either), so I thought the other ones were worth the extra Euro.

Today we won't have vegetarian Tuesday, but we will have cheesecake

Sounds like a win to me.

The cheesecake was underwhelming.
They used to be a real treat I would look forward to.
This one was too dense, the crust was almost chewy, and the strawberry topping looked like it had been frozen at some point.

I'm going to go out and buy some presents that nobody cares about & will probably never use. Not that I care. Have an o.k. day. Or at least an acceptable day. Whatever, it doesn't matter.

I ran the dishwasher this morning.
It has been two months since we got the replacement installed and working.

I am still surprised when it starts. I wonder if I will ever fully trust it.

In other news no-one cares about, Mrs Vorpal's car is acting up.
It is 15 years old, and probably not worth fixing.
She wants to take a 1600km trip later this month...

OH OH! I smell a new car coming up...

I made me some nice sandwiches tonight with spicy salami, ham, lettuce, cheese and mayonnaise. Who needs Subway anyway?

Heated in the oven for 5 minutes, without prior pre-heating. Really good stuff, though one or two extra minutes in the oven maybe could have further improved it.

My salami sandwich looked like it needed something, so I added a slice of real cheddar. Nifty

The temp hit 32C yesterday, and it got up to 29C inside the house.
It is only expected to hit 31 today, then it cools down over the weekend...

Would have loved to see a picture. :f_grin:

Those sandwich buns were a new addition to my store's lineup, btw, (at least I didn't see them there before) which inspired me to make those sandwiches. Before that, I usually stuck to plain old toast, but a proper sub sandwich bun really goes a long way in turning those things into a genuine meal.

Fellow trolls and not-carers may be familiar with Harrier's Burgeria already, maybe we'll see another series with basic sandwiches now.

I never think of that until after it is eaten.

I may have another tomorrow.
