Let's ignore the obvious -- this should be a pre-flop fold

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BB): $37.73
UTG: $26.26
CO: $24.90
BTN: $87.80
SB: $37.41

SB posts SB $0.10, Hero posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has 9♣:6♦:

fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.60, fold, Hero calls $0.35

Flop: ($1.30, 2 players) K♥:7♦:5♠:
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.62, Hero calls $0.62 <<< I have a gutshot, and if he has no king, I may yet take it down. I figured floating one street was OK, intending to fold to turn aggression if I don't improve.

Turn: ($2.54, 2 players) 8♦:
Hero bets $1.26, BTN calls $1.26 <<< OK, so I improve. I didn't want to give him the opportunity to check behind, so I bet medium-sized.

River: ($5.06, 2 players) K♣:
Hero bets $1.69, BTN raises to $5.40, Hero ???

It is maybe nitty but my first impression is to just call. In my opinion if you raise, there is not much worst hands calling, but many boats. But I am calling it 100%.

I would raise the river, maybe even shove, to try to extract the value from Kx hands... Your straight is very well hidden

Check raise flop, BB has hands like K7,K5 and 75 whereas BTN should not. As played I would re-raise river

What Kx exactly? It is nl25 and vs uncapped range…nl25 is kinda nitty OTR. In villain shoes when hero is reraising OTR I am folding nonboat Kx most likely. The donk OTT from hero looks like strong hand scared from opened backdoor FD. I just dont see many worst hands acctually calling the reraise. Call is fine option to catch bluffs or overvalued Kx.

But the bet OTR should be sized up definitely.

I would always check to the aggressor. Turn i would consider a check/raise, but it's a little bit villain depended.

I am x/r turn and overbite/jam on river, If he made a silly full house so be it, he has bunch of Kx that will call ant bet and if his ATS is low. His only boats IMHO are'7s and 8's, but I don't think he is betting 8's on flop so you are down to 7';s.

keep grinding

Thats very reasonable. But what do you suggest to do as played? Still jam?

Only 40 hands or so, but opponent has 35/30

I will often call flop and lead turn. Is that bad?
I'll do it when I hit a second pair, a set and so on.

I'm surprised to hear people would x/r the flop with a mere gutshot.

Also a bit surprised at the notion of jamming river with a straight on a paired board.
K7, K8 and K5 aren't likely, but pocket 5s, 7s and 8s are.

I'm just starting to get back into hold'em and it looks like I've got a lot to learn.
I left a bundle of money on the table in this hand for sure, since he showed down AKo

Aha, so you folded and he showed the cards?

C/R Turn is mandatory. Allow him to barrel everything. Even hands like 8x or TT may want to bet small to check back river.
Basically most check backs OTT are hands that will probably want ot give up -- this is the reason for your OOP float too.
I don't see any value by leading turn.

River fold is out of the question of course. We are beaten by 13 combos if I counted correctly... There are more that we beat, but we are only guessing how often he calls with them. I would just call. :f_thumbsup:

No, I made what I thought was a crying call, because folding is even more πŸ” than I am

It sounds like the spot to get it in is the turn, and I missed that opportunity.

Finally I find some time to put the hand into snowie and according it it is 100% call OTR, never raise although the raise is also slightly +EV, so it is not huge blunder. As played (when missed XR OTT) you played the hand just fine, but the bet OTR should go to pot size.

Thanks for putting out the effort!

It's good to know.

I don't have a solver, or any other GTO software.
I would get something, but I just don't play enough hold'em to justify the cost
