When I was little, diesel locomotives had almost completely taken over, but on very long uphill grades, they would use steam locomotives as pushers to help the diesel make the grade.
This excursion train went past my home town for several years.
We took our kids on it a couple of times.
Not exactly a "listening to" -- more of a "watching it for a bit of nostalgia"
